About this property

Swan Cottage, South Creake, Norfolk

Swan Cottage is a large traditional brick and chalk detached Norfolk cottage dating back to the 19th century. Set in the middle of a one acre plot with uninterrupted rural views over the rolling countryside. close to South Creake, this hideaway boasts a 10m outdoor heated swimming pool, plus an outdoor kitchen with wood-fired pizza oven and built-in gas barbecue.

This fabulous property is set in a fantastic location, close to Burnham Market and only a short drive to the coast with its glorious vast stretches of soft sand. Swan Cottage boasts five bedrooms, including two master suites; one upstairs with a large en-suite including a cast iron bath and walk-in shower, and one downstairs which comes with a king-size bed, wood burning stove and en-suite shower room. There are three further bedrooms upstairs and a family bathroom.

The heart of the house is undoubtedly the open-plan kitchen and living area, with an Aga and conventional oven, relaxed dining area, comfy seating area, television and a wall of folding doors which open onto the rear garden which has garden furniture and a table and chairs. There is a separate more formal dining room and also a main sitting room/snug with open fire and television. Downstairs has natural stone flooring throughout making the house perfect for dogs and children and there is solid oak flooring upstairs.

Swan Cottage offers guests luxurious little extras such as 400 thread count Egyptian Cotton linens and soft pillows and duvets to provide a wonderful night's sleep, Egyptian cotton towels, complimentary toiletries and a welcome hamper on arrival.

The outside is just as lovely as the inside and you will adore the swimming pool and dining alfresco together on warm summer evenings. This is a perfect space to enjoy the garden with a wood fired pizza oven, built-in gas barbecue, brazier to provide some heat later on, large polished concrete bar with cupboards beneath and power sockets to plug in your music. There are bar stools around the bar and a round rattan dining table with glass top and six chairs, all undercover with with colour changing LED lighting. There is also a rattan sofa and two chairs with coffee table looking out over the pool. The garden at Swan Cottage is a wonderful place to enjoy the more clement weather that Norfolk has to offer.

The poolside garden is fenced and gated from the rest of the garden - children must be supervised at all times. Please note that the River Burn passes through the bottom of the garden so again children must be supervised. The front garden is fully-enclosed making it secure and suitable for dogs, once the gate is shut.

An extremely well presented and equipped property.

Swan Cottage looked good in the brochure but every expectation was exceeded by the quality of the property, its facilities and furnishings. The pool with adjacent covered barbecue area - not forgetting the pizza oven - provided the ideal setting for relaxing days and evenings with the family.

Fabulous

What a place to be locked down in. The house and garden are truly beautiful and it was a pleasure to stay here. the area looks lovely, long empty beaches to enjoy and some of the nearby restaurants and cafes looked great but were unfortunately closed due to the lockdown which occurred on the day of our arrival. We will return in happier times.

Very nice cottage

The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. It made a great place for all the family to interact. Making pizza was a good night and the bbq is a good size. Rooms are very plush and couldn't be a better location for a holiday. Thanks. Will Highley recommend it.

A great new year stay for all the family

We were an extended family of 9 and 2 dogs, the house was perfect for our needs, a lovely big garden and plenty of parking for 3 cars. It was spotlessly clean throughout and the kitchen was very well equipped, even the Aga worked very efficiently (which has not been the case in previous property rentals. The children loved the 2 massive TVs with Netflix and sky. Many of the lovely beaches were only a short drive away so it was in a great location. We would certainly stay here again. Many thanks.

Great location

We had a great week at Swan cottage. The house is very well equipped and comfy. There is plenty of room for all and the dog was well catered for outside. Our only regret was that we couldn’t use the pool, obviously a great asset in summer months. We could not use the outside barbecue as the lighting had failed. 85/100

Fantastic Christmas Break

My husband and I and our dog stayed at Swan cottage for a week over Christmas with my mum joining for a couple of nights. The cottage is lovely and done to a very high standard. The downstairs bedroom with the log burner was wonderful and the bed and linen very comfortable. The pool wasn’t open when we stayed but I imagine in the summer it would be wonderful to spend time in the garden, which is very private, enjoying the pool and the outdoor kitchen. Both gardens were secure for our dog which is very important to us. We hope to return in the summer!

A wonderful home for a family holiday

The only problem we had were the amount of flies in the kitchen we do realise that this hot summer has caused a problem but this was excessive my husband went around the county and found one fly paper which had at least 50 flies within half an hour. The other problem was warsps we could not sit outside in the BBQ area for lunch or the evening we spent evenings collecting the fallen apples of the tree but made no difference this is not a complaint about the property it was just one of those things We had an amazing time and two of the young ones started to swim without floats which has given confidence for their swimming lessons

An excellent location in North Norfolk

We have had an excellent and most enjoyable week at Swan Cottage. The location is very good for visiting anywhere along the North Norfolk coast, and there are plenty of visitor attractions to suit all ages. The cottage itself was a wonderful family home, that took three generations of visitors with ease and great comfort. There were plenty of little details that made for a very comfortable and enjoyable week and plenty of space to be together or in one's own space. With good weather the garden facilities are memorable. I can thoroughly recommend the cottage.

The accommodation was faultless, albeit that there were faults on the tumble drier and dishwasher that were repaired on our last day. We struggled with the lounge tv/dvd/sound bar and gave up to use the kitchen/diner instead - perhaps some clearer instructions would be helpful. We will definitely recommend the cottage and have already suggested your company to friends.

A pleasant stay

Swan Cottage, is a fabulous warm, welcoming and very well equipped home, and very well located. We stayed in April, sadly we had a week of bad weather that was reminiscent of a foggy week in Victorian London, we only saw past the tree at the end of the garden the day we left. However, the weather didn’t seem to matter as the cottage kept us warm and cosy. It was very comfortable, spacious and equipped with enough to entertain the three generations (9 years to 84 years) that made up our party. On arrival, the welcome basket was a very welcome surprise! the only minor problem we had during our stay was resolved very quickly by Norfolk Hideaways and the caretakers. We are a difficult group to accommodate as one of our children is totally dependent upon a specially moulded wheelchair, when booking The team at Norfolk Hideaways were great, measuring doorways and steps for us before booking to ensure that our stay would go smoothly, which I’m pleased to say it did. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend both Norfolk Hideaways and Swan Cottage, better weather would have been a nice bonus, but in this lovely home it’s not essential!

Fabulous family stay at Swan Cottage

My family and I stayed at Swan Cottage for a week in early April and had a wonderful time. The location is only a short drive from some fantastic beaches such as Holkham and Burnham Overy Staithe. Wells-next-the-sea is a mere 20 minutes away and a range of supermarkets can be found 15 mins away in Fakenham. The Cottage it’s self is very spacious and well equipped and the grounds are lovely. The only thing I’d change are the mattresses which were all on the soft side, not condusive if you have back troubles and I’d move the family room sofa so you can look out at the beautiful garden! We took two dogs who recieved a wonderful welcome pack and made the most of the secure front garden (once gate is shut). They didn’t love sleeping in the utility room - lots of random noises which saw them barking at around midnight and 4am every night, not a problem unless you are in one of the two upstairs doubles.

So good you won't want to go home!

This is a very special home. It did not feel like a holiday rental more of a home where the owner has left you the key and you have moved in. The attention to detail was excellent and the decor fabulous. It was homely if there was just the 4 of us or a fabulous entertaining space when there were 9 of us. Bearing in mind we stayed at Swan Cottage in March when the pool and outdoor kitchen were not used we loved every minute and felt very content. The hub of the house was the kitchen and garden room which was a great family space. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped and the Aga a bonus. We would love to stay here again. It was a happy, friendly well loved home. The bar has been set incredibly high for other visits. This is our second Norfolk hideaway the first being Sea View Barn which is also of the scale and very special.

Half term holiday with the family.

We had a lovely family holiday in a beautiful family home. All ages (from 5 to 75) were catered for and none of us wanted to leave. The welcome pack was a nice added touch and the real fire kept us warm despite chilly February weather and a power cut! There was so much to do within easy reach of the cottage and the nightly visit from the owl became part of the evening entertainment. The kitchen was so well equipped that we enjoyed cooking in as much as eating out - the local mussels were a particular highlight. Keen to go back in the summer as the children were desperate to use the pool! Thank you

Our wonderful week

For the past six years our family get together for a weeks holiday. Swan Cottage was by far the best we have ever stayed in. The size, quality and comfort was second to none . My only criticism is nothing to do with the cottage but the extra late entry and extra early exit. It would make an excellent stay into a perfect stay.

A lovely week had by all our family

Swan cottage is a beautiful home, it has all the amenities you could possibly need. We had a great week weather wise so the pool was used daily. A Tawny owl visited the garden most nights and star gazing is amazing with there being no light pollution.

Beautiful Swan Cottage.

We spent a week at Swan Cottage, and didn't want to leave.. The property was spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfy, the showers were amazing, and the Egyptian cotton towels and bed linen were beautiful. The heated pool was a real bonus, and the gardens were gorgeous. The owners have thought of everything to ensure visitors enjoy their stay, including Sky tv, dvds, books and games. The outside area includes a pizza oven, barbecue ,fridge, bar area and lights scattered around the garden. This is by far the nicest cottage I have ever stayed in.

Fabulous

We enjoyed our stay. Enough room for all of us. Love the fact that it is well stocked with anything one can think of. Only negative was we found a dead frog in the pool, as our check in was 4 days after pool was cleaned. Great for those that check in on Friday as the pool man finished cleaning as we were getting ready to leave. An electric gate would be ideal for us with dogs. Many thanks and am booking it again for sure. Thank you very much for everything. Xx
