We rented this place out for 5 adults staying for 3 days for the Kendao Mountain Festival. Great location for the festival and for exploring nearby via car. The place was big enough for us as a close group of friends and we had everything we needed. Really friendly and responsive host!

Glad you enjoyed your break at Holme Cottage, thanks for the 5 star review.
The cottage was in a small village, much quieter than the larger towns in the Lake District. Cottage was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Neighbours friendly and helpful. Would recommend the property for a holiday in the Lake District.

Hi Ben
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review and glad you enjoyed your stay.
Hopefully the trains were not too much of an issue.
Information regarding trains for future guests - the last train is around 10:30pm and as it is only a short line between Kendal and Windermere they are only two / three carriages and therefore not high speed trains.

We had an amazing holiday, the location was stunning with the scenery of beautiful mountains all around. As well a really nice river flows through the village. The village is nice and peaceful and with Windermere being very close by we visited it twice in our three night holiday. The cottage was very decent and clean being the perfect size house. All in all we had a fabulous time.

Thanks for the five star review it sounds like you had a fantastic time at Holme Cottage.
This was a wonderfully situated cottage in a wonderful location.
The process was smooth from booking on the site and check in to check out.
Staveley has some good small businesses catering to most, if not all, needs. Special mention must go to Hawkshead Brewery and More Bakery which gave us something to look forward to when we returned from walking to Potter Tarn.
I would definitely recommend booking this wonderful cottage to anyone.

Thanks for the five star review Andrew, I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday in Staveley. Like you say there are some great independent businesses, it's surprising the level of amenities for the size of the village.

Quiet place. Only a quarter to get to lake Windermere. Good equipped kitchen. As well as wasmachine and dryer. Enough space for two till four people.
The beds are not comfortable

Glad you enjoyed your time in the Lakes, sorry you did not find the beds comfortable you are the first to mention it. Obviously there are that many different types of mattresses and different levels of firmness perhaps its the opposite end of what you are used to.

An Okay to Good Rental Property in the Lake District
It was an okay rental property experience for my husband and I. It was good value for the money. The bed was comfortable, the wifi worked as well as the kitchen appliances. The things that were a minus for us was the stove was quite dirty and you are behind another house so there is not really a yard of any sort, but there is a small patio with table and chairs on it. I think from the picture of the property it looks like lots of space around it but that is not the case.

Im glad you enjoyed your holiday and found the cottage good value for money. I will mention the oven to the caretaker. There is plenty of open space outside the cottage (far more than what the photos show) however some of it is communal.
This is an excellent house in superb state of repair with very good quality furniture. It is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The booking process was simple and Martin Wardle of the agents was extremely helpful. The house is situated in a village which is very near Kendal, the lakes and just over one hour to the Solway coast. There are some very good dining places in the area with our favourite being The Watermill Inn which has its own micro brewery producing very tasty beers. All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday and brought back many memories of when I worked there in the 1970s. If it is available we would certainly stay at Holme Cottage in the future. Thankyou very much to all concerned.

Melanie was fantastic and extremely helpful in ensuring that we had the best stay. From taking our calls post 12am to providing advice on local attractions Melanie was always there to help. The cottage was great, cosy, clean and had all the essential utensils etc that one would require for a weekend stay. We will certainly be back.

I would recommend this place to stay, a lovely location, the village has a great local pub and the local railway station is just at the top of the road, which was handy to pop into Windermere.

We had a lovely break the house was a great size for the four of us, the bedrooms are a decent size, the provision of equipment was also good more plates and mugs etc than just the bare minimum four often provided. The heating kept the house warm and cosy. Although set back from the road through a gennel it does make for a quiet place. We loved it!

Glad you enjoyed your holiday and stay at Holme Cottage.
Had an amazing week away in this fantastic cottage in the centre of picturesque Staveley. The place was immaculate & had lots of little extras not usually provided in a holiday let. Booking was easy & communication was excellent. The caretaker was brilliant checking on us throughout our time to ensure we were happy. Staveley is not only beautiful but is a perfect base for exploring the Lakes. It has many shops, takeaways, cafés, pub, Hawkshead Brewery, small artisan businesses, play park & local walks. Despite this, the village was always peaceful with very little traffic. The facilities were all in a 10 minute stride of our tranquil cottage. The neighbours were all really friendly & helpful too. We would definitely recommend it to others.

A little gem, tucked away in a lovely village. Nipping clean and very well equipped with everything we needed, good quality bedding and comfy furnishing. Parking was a bit tricky at times but that was all explained by the property manager prior to our visit. An excellent price for such a delightful property
