Our 2nd time to Florence, this time a full week as home base. Perfect living space for the two of us. The views thru the massive floor to ceiling windows were wonderful - enjoying even more the terrace spaces. We finished most nights on the broader terrace at the little table/chairs provided, taking in the sights and sounds, playing cards, etc.
The location was spectacular. 5–8-minute stroll west to Duomo and all the sights and sounds of city central. Equal distance south to Arno/Vecchio. We stayed on foot throughout Florence, including Piazza Michelangelo, train station, etc. A perfect jump-off point for it all.
We fell in love with the small piazza that the apartment sits above - Piazza di S. Pier Maggiore. Café/fruit stand by morning, charming Restaurants in the evening. We ate many of our meals sampling the few restaurants here. Just outside “city center”, it is our opinion that the food was superior, as were the prices.
We fell in love with the very narrow road, Borgo Degli Albizi, when the mood called for people watching in the large piazzas. A very safe, quiet stretch (stopping for gelato each time). A very memorable experience for sure.
FYI – the stairs to the apartment may not be for all. I’m mid-50’s not in great shape. A bit daunting, but oddly rewarding each time as well. For us, it really just enhanced and solidified the overall memories made on this trip to Florence. We did not find noise to be an issue at night. But it was a hot week, so we did keep the windows shut (appreciating the air conditioning) at night. Out on the terrace near bed time, we truly enjoyed this indistinct sound of chatter and dining, nothing more than soft white noise in our opinion.
No regrets on our selection and would choose it again.
