About this property
A peaceful ground floor apartment within our refurbished Sussex barn.
With two double bedrooms, lounge, galleried dining area, bathroom and laundry room, the self contained suite of rooms is situated on the ground floor of our beautiful Sussex barn. Guests can sit by the lake, or use the garden, with its patio area and barbecue, while enjoying wonderful far reaching views across the countryside.
Heartwood Barn sits on the edge of the popular village of Ticehurst, with its award winning pub and restaurant, The Bell. Set as we are within an Area of Outstanding Beauty, there are many beautiful walks to be enjoyed. Bewl Water is a few minutes’ away on foot, or a short car journey takes you to Bedgebury Pinetum, Scotney Castle, Bodium Castle and the wonderful gardens at Sissinghurst and Great Dixter. But with a complete change of mood, the bustling town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is only twenty minutes by car and London can be accessed easily from the mainline station in the neighbouring village of Wadhurst.
The south coast is a pleasant drive away, through the leafy lanes. The ancient Cinque Port town of Rye is a ‘must see’, while we are especially lucky to have so many great fish and other restaurants to sample at the resorts along the coast... towns such as Brighton, Hastings, Lewes, Eastbourne and Bexhill. Heartwood will provide you with a peaceful, comfortable, country retreat to return to after a busy day’s local sight seeing.
We provide quality bed linen and towels, a housekeeping service, plus a ‘welcome’ basket of local produce to introduce you to the area. We love where we live and we hope you will, too!

About the host
Hosted by Ann Spencer

Our family have lived at the barn for the past fifteen years, lovingly refurbishing it and creating the garden that now surrounds it. There’s still plenty to occupy us, but it’s a wonderfully peaceful place to be and we love it! We are classic car enthusiasts and as such, there may be the occasional beautiful car to see around the barn. We are also able to offer you secure parking during your visit should you wish to bring your own pride and joy.
Why they chose this property
We love the south east of England - it has always been home for us having grown up in Kent, and East Sussex is just that little bit more peaceful.
What makes this property unique
Our home is a quintessentially Sussex barn... black clapboarding with red tiled roof... and is situated in an absolutely ideal location, being right on the edge of a pretty village, yet with far reaching views and with a tranquility that everyone comments upon. Our accommodation offers a wealth of quirky features and comes with a warm welcome, whatever the season!
