The house is a traditional Portuguese property with a lovely garden. It is situated in the heart of Tavira and very close to restaurants and places of interest but also very quiet.Maria the host is extremely friendly and communicated with us on WhatsApp prior to our arrival and was there to meet us at the property and explain how everything works. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and Maria was always on hand as she lives closeby to answer and questions.
We felt completely at home in Tavira. Maria was a perfect hostess and made sure we had everything we could possibly need while we were there. The weather turned awful and before we went out the first morning there were large umbrellas waiting for us in the outer hallway. The location is absolutely central with restaurants and shops right outside the door. If you have a car, there is parking right behind the house. If you are there is the fall as we were, you can pick oranges right off the tree and have fresh juice and fruit.

Muita obrigada your had wonderful holiday here. Hope seeing your again one in Tavira 😊🙏
Maria was a great host. More than willing to answer questions about where things were in Tavira, how to get there, made sure we had everything we needed, greeted us with a smile every time we saw her at her shop next door to the rental. The historic house is in a fabulous central location but is quiet and private because it is off the street. We had everything we needed. Beautiful home with a fabulous garden. We could have stayed here much longer and been very content! I’d love for it to be “my little secret oasis” to come back to again and again!

Thanks very much for your very lovely review ❤️. You and your friends welcome always!! Nice meeting your here.
All the best 🙂
A lovely apartment. Very clean, very quiet and very comfortable. Bang in the centre of Tavira, near all the restaurants on the riverside and the shops, but in a quiet back street. The owner is very friendly and helpful and will give you all sorts of advice and recommendations.

Muitas obrigadas Gabriel. I am happy to had your family here. Welcome always.
Great place to stay for a couple. The master bedroom is super but if you are using the second bedroom its not up to the same level. You will need mosquito spray. The garden is lovely.
Communication was top. Super warm welcome. Great place to stay. Recommented. Thank you Maria and for the oranges, lemon and mandarines too ;-).

Spacious and traditional Portuguese style home in the heart of Tavira old town. All the highlights, shops and restaurants within walking distance. Our favourite restaurant we went to for dinner was Restaurante Ti Maria Tapas whichvwas busy so the customer service was a little rushed but understandably. The food was delicious! Our favourite breakfast spot for coffee and a fresh pastry was La Baguette artisan Boulanger Français... soooo yummy (sadly not open on wednesdays) and two very good ice cream shops, Delizia da Ponte and GelatoMagia - Traditional Ice Cream Gelato. We drove to Santa Luzia (7min) then caught the ferry to the nearest beach which was spectacular, then ate seafood back on the strip afterward. The house was spacious, clean, quiet, comfortable AND has a relaxing garden. Maria was the perfect host, very friendly and helpful. So glad we chose to stay here and would definately stay again.
Weather was a shocker, no fault obviously for the host Maria. Maria could not have been more helpful from start to finish, even left us an umbrella and boy did we need it. Communication was instant and once we arrived Maria pinned us everywhere we needed to go from suoermarkets to vakery..great hostarrived Maria sent larrived
Great, walkable location, easy check in, and comfortable accommodations. Very kind hostess, full of recommendations, easy to get a hold of, and quick to respond to any concerns or inquiries. Bonus: Cute turtles in the garden :)
Despite its location on a well traveled street the lack of noise once inside the flat was amazing. Clean flat with a lovely private garden. The host, Maria is helpful, and super easy to work with.
What a charming location only a 10 minute walk from the train station. It was in central Tavira, walking distance to everything. The garden was so beautiful and we enjoyed her turtle "Timmy" who would come for visits. Maria was so easy to work with and took care of all our needs.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Maria’s traditional house with its quirks and delightful garden and patio. Very spacious with nice modern bathroom. The bedroom looking out to the patio is wonderful- you feel like you are sleeping in the garden. Maria is very easy to contact as she lives upstairs and her shop is next door. She is a great host. We would stay again in this lovely traditional house- very authentic experience and excellent location in Tavira.
This property is very well placed for what Tavira offers. The property and its owner are one of a kind. Be prepared for something a little different and non N. American. Maria is kind and helpful but hard to understand. I particularly enjoyed the garden/patio.
Maria is a welcoming and very helpful host. The accommodation is a sprawling and spacious two bedroom ground floor apartment with immediate access to the Praca do Republica. It is very well equipped. There is a very pleasant, private garden, which was a great place to relax in the evening. A great balance between cosy and comfortable. There were lots of mosquitoes in the area at the time of our visit but Maria guided us to ways to minimize them. There is free parking nearby.
The location could not be better, very close to the central square on a very pretty street. We loved the garden area and living area off the garden of this rental. The garden smelled so lovely. The place was very clean, a nice bathroom. We recommend this rental but suggest you check with the owner about construction. They are building next door and renovating part of the building where this property is.
Maria was a excellent hostess. She was extremely helpful with places to go and eat. We loved the location of the house in the town center. The house was quite charming and the garden was beautiful.
There was some construction close to the house that was a bit loud at times. We also had some mosquitos in the house that were a bit irritating at times
The apartment gets full marks for location but in all other respects it gets a failing grade.
It is overdue for a good cleaning, basic maintenance and a fresh coat of paint.
With only two heating units, most of the space was cold and damp. The wood stove mentioned in the listing appears to have been removed.
During our two week stay we planned to have most of our meals in. This was a challenge. The small cooktop was temperamental. Frequently we had to squeeze into a drawer in order to unplug and replug it, to get it to work. The bar sized sink made washing dishes awkward and messy. Most of the dishes we took out of the cupboard needed to be washed.
The modern bathroom is fine. It has a nice shower with lots of hot water, however the window doesn’t close so the room is cold and buggy.
According to the posting, there is parking onsite. This is not the case. During the week, parking is in a metered lot a few blocks away or in a free lot a wee bit further. Of course there is no guarantee that a spot will be available. We were told we could park in the adjacent alley on weekends, however the spots were either taken or too small for our rental car.
There is a nice private patio and garden but these too need some attention.
With just a little TLC, this rental could be amazing but as is, it just doesn’t measure up.

We chose this 2 br, 1 bath place (sleeps 4) for the 3 of us. We were charged an extra one hundred dollars for our five nights. Maria said it was an “extra person” charge. But the listing sleeps 4. She charges an extra ten/night/extra bed w sheets after the full bed. That was not disclosed to me at booking to my knowledge. This wasn’t stated anywhere in the listing. Construction is going on right next door. It starts at 7:30 on weekdays. You will hear it. And to get to the unit you have to pass through a long, narrow walkway between construction barriers and a concrete wall. The window in the bathroom doesn’t close, so all the chilly air and mosquitoes crept in all day and night. The gate can be opened without a key. The garden is lovely. The bathroom is newish. The full sized bed was comfy. The washing machine works but drying space is very limited, especially w rain. Pillows are flat. Kitchen utensils, plates and cups are all mismatched. Maria and her family live upstairs. You can hear them. I believe you share the wifi with them. WiFi is strongest in the twin bedroom and kitchen. It barely reaches the living room and does not reach the main bedroom. There’s no place to hang a jacket or umbrella. There were cobwebs in the dresser in the main bedroom. There is charm and beauty in this location, as well as convenience - you are absolutely in the middle of the town. The train station is a 5 minute walk. Maria is very personable and met us at check in.
