We stayed at this cottage the year we met so thought it’d be nice to return for our 20th anniversary, along with our 17 year old son and dog.
It’s still very quaint and hasn’t changed one bit.
On this visit though there was notable smell of damp when opening the doors and cupboards which we found overwhelming.. the cottage needs a good clean behind the sofas in the lounge as it was very dusty. My husband is extremely allergic to dust - because of this and the damp we had to return home early (3 out of 7 days), which is hugely disappointing as this was our only holiday.
WiFi would have cheered the 17 year old (especially as it was his birthday), however we were aware of this prior. We hoped to eat in the garden if the furniture was poor so had to eat in the kitchen.
To summarise, the cottage is pretty in a fabulous location. It needs updating and cleaning inside - then I would highly recommend.

The cottage is a lovely place to stay - a very quaint place with a cosy lounge, a functional kitchen and three comfortable bedrooms. The heating was great and we never felt cold while we were there.
It’s not too far from the main road but it was actually very quiet throughout the day and the night.
There was no WiFi internet but my phone connections (EE) were okay so it didn’t cause any problem. There were a good selection of films to watch.
We stayed just before Christmas and the decorations around the house including a Christmas tree really made us feel cheerful festive.
When we arrived, a bottle of wine and some mince pies were waiting for us and that was a fantastic touch :) it was great!

Lovely, cosy cottage.
Lovely, cosy cottage. Plenty of space for two, but the single bedrooms would be a bit cramped for more. My wife and I used it as a based to visit our children and grandchildren who all live close by. We had a really excellent week, despite the variable weather. I made the mistake of booking in the belief that there was Internet as I had work to do. That was my mistake, but it is a shortfall. The cottage is also in an exceptionally poor area for mobile signal, so this is fine if you positively want a spell away from external contact. But it made contacting our kids to coordinate activity quite problematic, too. This is a serious nuisance for most folks these days, and I am puzzled as there are clear signs of telephone sockets throughout the cottage, so for the cost of a few pounds a month, it seems an odd omission.

Lovely little escape cottage, plenty to do in the surrounding area, touristy stuff if you want that
Lovely little escape cottage, plenty to do in the surrounding area, touristy stuff if you want that type of thing, or just meandering along the trails across the common and the moors if you want to avoid people (that was my goal). A bit quirky, as you would expect in such an old building, but all the neccessaries you need and a very comfy bed too. Ok, no wi-fi, but I knew that in advance and it didn't bother me in the slightest, but if you are a slave to a connection please don't book and then complain about it. A lovely retreat for us humans and perfect for dogs with an escape proof back garden, and miles of excellent walkies to enjoy, a wonderful break. Thankyou Richard and Gail!

A great place for walking, biking.
A great place for walking, biking. Lots of National Trust land near by. Rail Transport links 3 miles away with parking, to the coast, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard was fantastic! Easy to reach Petersfield- lovely market town in South Downs, and Guildford. Nice local pubs serving good food, observing covid restrictions well. Cottage is in a quiet location, felt safe and welcoming.

A beautiful cottage in a stunning part of the country.
A beautiful cottage in a stunning part of the country. There's plenty of walks right on your doorstep, and the OS maps that the owner has provided make them easy to navigate without getting lost. The spacious garden was a big hit with our collie dog, and the pubs, which are about 2 mile away, are great places to dine out. Very pleased with our stay; would definitely recomend.

In the visitors' book another guest was moaning that the cottage needed some TLC.
In the visitors' book another guest was moaning that the cottage needed some TLC. But this is a 300 year old cottage not some swish modern duplex. The facilities were fine for us and the position, on the edge of Passfield Common, are ideal for anyone with a dog. You just walk out of the front door and can then go for miles. We were fortunate in that we had wonderful weather but the fact that this was our fourth stay and hope to go again next year should be enough recommendation.

had a lovely stay at this cottage was perfect for what we wanted.
had a lovely stay at this cottage was perfect for what we wanted. Had all we needed others may want wifi but this did not bother us. It was central to everywhere we wanted to visit. Obviously being the age it is, it is hard to remove all cobwebs etc as im sure once removed the little spiders are remaking there homes again.
