About this property

2 Bed converted stone farmhouse, stunning character, views & location

Newly converted barn on working sheep farm, The Old Farmhouse dates back to 1750 with original stone hearth and inset log burner. Open plan living, dining and kitchen with underfloor heated stone floors. Both bedrooms are en suite shower rooms with heated towel rails and the property has beautiful original stone walls and exposed beams. Stunning views and a private out door patio make it a very special little retreat.
On site, there is a games room, drying room, safe cycle storage and picnic/bbq area. Guests can enjoy fresh farm eggs and milk delivered to their doorstep each morning.
Ideal for a family or small group of up to 4 people. This property can be prepared as a double and twin bedrooms, or as 2 twin bedrooms if required; each with their own en-suite shower room.
The first floor offers a beautiful variety of views from each bedroom. In particular, the double room has wonderful views of Magpie mine, and you may also be lucky enough to see some of our wonderful sunsets, which can be particularly stunning in the winter months as the red glow shines through the silhouette of trees in our woodland.
The open-plan ground floor is flooded with light from the large glazed opening which leads to your private patio area. A well-equipped kitchen, including a dish-washer, is designed to make your stay as easy as possible.

About the host

Hosted by Julia

Host profile image
We are John & Julia, the owners of Manor Farm which is a working sheep farm. We are new to farming and have learnt lots about our growing flock of Jacob, Herdwick and South Down sheep. We also have 2 goats who love to interact with our guests, chickens, a dog called Honey who loves everyone and two cats called Smudge & Tigger. We have pigs to see during the summer (and bacon and sausages available to buy!)

Why they chose this property

The Old Farmhouse is extra special because it was the site of the original Manor Farm. We have managed to save the original stone hearth and there are exposed beams and feature stone walls throughout. A beautiful oak staircase leads to 2 en-suite bathrooms and there are wonderful views across the open countryside.

What makes this property unique

A stay at Manor House Farm Cottages will create many lasting memories as it is such a special place. We feel fortunate every day to live in an area of outstanding beauty and look forward to sharing the experience with our guests. Our small woodland is a special place and for people interested in history, we also have 2 neolithic burial mounts, a lime kiln and a mine shaft on our 50 acres of land.
