We have a two night minimum in our newly renovated cottage on pristine, spring fed Schoodic Lake that sleeps five in a beautiful handmade (double) bunk bed and one single bed in separate bedroom. Enjoy your morning (wake up) coffee on newly built porch overlooking the lake as the ducks and loons swim past. Enjoy your morning swim (50' away) by walking directly into the shallow water in front of the deck. (Ideal for young children) Deeper water further out in the lake.
Comfy cottage has dishes, pots & pans, silverware, glasses, toaster, coffee pot, refrigerator, stove, TV and internet available - everything for an enjoyable stay.
Bring your own boat that can be launched at the public landing one lot away. Great for fishermen and all kinds of water sports. Once on the lake, great views of Mount Katahdin and the Appalachian Trail mountain range that are spectacular. Sportsmen love fishing for togue, trout and salmon. Be sure to bring your fly rod too! Cameras are a must when traveling to Deadmans Rock, and standing on the enormous sawdust pile left behind by the Merrick Spool company of the 1800’s.
For those that enjoy hiking, Gulf Hagas, Borestone Mountain and Appalachian Trails are a short distance away.
Bring your own ATV. ATV trails that will take you all over the state are just up the street from the cottage.
We open May 15th of each year and close October 1 unless prior arrangements are made with the owner.
Check-In Time: 4 PM to 9 PM Lock Box available for people to check-in after 9 PM. Please request lock box in advance.

Dogs must be kept on a leash while outside the cottage or taken out for their daily duties. Bags will be supplied to pick up their waste that can be disposed of in a provided garbage can. 3. Dogs may be off leash as long as the owner keeps an eye on them and not allowed to wander over to another owners land. Should this happen, the dogs owner must pick up any waste promptly with bags supplied. 4. Dogs must be tied to a tree should owner have to leave them unattended for any reason.
If guest wants to bring more than five people, we do allow them to bring a small camper for them to sleep in. The cost for the camper will be $10 a night and $22 dollars a day for each additional person. Towels and wash cloths will not be supplied for the extra guests. Gorgeous lake, easy shore access, fantastic for kids with shallow water. Everything you could ask for. Friendly & helpful owner! Kids asked to go back next year.
We had a great time at Leon and Elaine's cabin. The cabin itself is well set up and we had all the essentials we needed for sleeping, cooking, and bathing. The outside space is great, we had a fire almost every night and paddled as far as we dared on the large lake which is easily accessible from multiple points on the property. Leon was very helpful with information and supplies and patiently made friends with our shy dog over the course of 6-ish days. There's some great hiking near by and a medium-sized grocery store about 20 minutes away. We would stay again.
Accommodations were excellent, hosts were amazing and looking forward to a return visit

Mark is a perfect guest that any host would be thrilled for the honor and opportunity to have as their guest. I know we did.
Mark drove all the way from California to honor his Father's request to have the ashes scatter around the camp on Schoodic Lake that his Father built when I was just a kid growing up. He accomplished his goal and promised to return with some more of his family and I hope he does. Would love the opportunity to talk to him again to get more details of his memories living on the lake.
My 3 kids and I had a fantastic time. We rented the canoe and had so much fun paddling on the lake. The cabin was perfect and right near a great spot for swimming. The hosts were awesome and really helpful!
We had a great 3 days kayaking and other activities. Plenty of room for the 3 of us. Leon is a great host. Thanks again.

Afternoon Kevin,
If you enjoyed yourselves just half as much as we enjoyed having the opportunity to meet you and yours, then all is good. Thankyou for your choosing "Our Little Piece Of Heaven" as your vacation destination. Please come back again. You are welcome here anytime.
Best wishes,

This was our second visit with no regrets. The owners are absolutely wonderful and very helpful with the area. The accommodations are great. The camp is very neat and well stock with everything you would need for your stay. We not only stayed for a whole week but feel that we have made wonderful friends.

Gloria and Phil have stayed with us twice and a nicer couple would be hard to find. They love to travel and take in everything while doing so. Easy to talk to and share their experiences with anyone who takes the time to ask. Phil loves to go fishing and a great companion in a boat. She wanted me to teach Phil how to clean a fish, but quite frankly I think they knew more than they let on. :)
Any host would be honored to have them as their guests and we recommend them with 10 stars. They promised to come back next year and we sure hope they do. We started missing them within ten minutes of their leaving our driveway.
If you want a quiet place on a lake this is the spot. A cozy cabin, easy access to the lake for swimming, kayaking or whatever you like. The owners were extremely friendly and accommodating making sure we had everything we needed. My wife and I were able to sit back and relax and forget about the pressure of everyday life and would recommend A little piece of heaven.
I could not have picked a better place! Clean, comfy, well-stocked with essentials. Lake frontage, fire pit, boat rentals, deck, and great neighbors including the host and hostess. It was heavenly! Thank you, Schoodic Lake!
The owners are wonderful people very friendly, caring and helpful. The cottage was small but clean and well set up. The weather rained and was windy every day we didn't get to enjoy the beautiful lake unfortunately. We recommend the property to others. We enjoyed our chats with the owners and sharing stories they made us feel very welcome!! Thank you!
Leon and Laney, immediately make you feel like family, almost like they are your parents or your aunt and uncle. The location is breath taking. The lake is pristine. I paddleboarded out a long way and even a couple of hundred feet out you can still see the bottom, the water is that clear. It's very rocky, so not much sand, but no seaweed at all either so awesome for swimming and watersports. Anything you need before or during your stay the hosts are great at helping with. Their is a very nice size yark (pebbles not grass) for kids or adults to play in while you are there. The beds are bunk beds and on the small side so that was a bit cramped given I'm six feet tall and 230 pounds. There is one single bed ground level. The hosts supply a fully stocked kitchen to make your stay easy. This place is super quiet. We will definitely be back.

Big Bummer: Not as Expected
I spoke to the host upon my arrival. He was gracious and welcoming and tried to work with me regarding my disappointment. I was very sorry things were not as I expected. I realize my opinion is in the minority.
I hope my comments and observations will help other travellers.
The cottage appeared clean and well-maintained. It is listed as a one bedroom and also lists a bedroom 1 and 2. It is a three bed studio. In the photos, you can see the bunk beds near the kitchen, but the single bed is shown as a closeup so you wouldn't know it's not in a bedroom. It is in an open alcove behind the door. There is one or a pair of windows near the kitchen table. The photos show it with the drapes closed. If you want to sit there for a meal and open them, you'll be looking at the neighbors' front yard, a large pontoon boat, and some cars. There was no furniture on the deck. If you want to sit outside with a cup of coffee you could probably touch the house on the right. To the left along the property line runs a long chain-link fence with plastic privacy strips in it, again not visible in any of the photos. Wider angle photos of all sides of the house and inside would give a clearer picture of the rental/surrounding property.
Boaters/those who want to spend the day on the lake would love it here and it's fine as a place to sleep and go out to nearby attractions during the day. Primarily,I didn't find the setting fit my idea of a lakeside cottage stay in Maine and chose not to stay.
We couldn't ask for better accommodations! The cabin is very clean, well equipped and right on the lake! Private yard with a boat/swimming launch, picnic table, grill, ect. Anything you need to enjoy a getaway!
This is a lovely cabin, with great access to Schoodic Lake and plenty of hiking nearby. Leon & Elaine are wonderful host! They are helpful, friendly and communication was terrific! The rental was very clean, beds are very comfortable and it had everything we needed. The best feature is the lake access right outside the door! We will definitely visit them again!
This was just the spot we needed to unwind. The property is as described -- clean, tiny, and in the perfect location quite literally on quiet, rural Schoodic Lake. Leon and Lanie were amazing hosts. We were able to swim in the lake each morning, enjoy nearby hikes and trails, rent kayaks, enjoy a boat ride with the host at the helm, do some fun aerial sightseeing near Mt Katadhin, and see neighboring lakes and forests. To be clear, this little rental is tiny, but fit a family of four and two dogs just fine and has everything you actually you need -- bathroom stocked with towels, kitchen with all the essentials to cook, and a sleeping/seating area. Being able to wake up and watch the sunrise, enjoy sunsets from on the lake, and watch the stars at night made the experience especially memorable. My kids loved every moment here.
