About this property
Echidna on Bruny, luxury within island bushland
The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus a bunk room.
A wood-burning heater (cut wood provided) with backup heat pump provides warmth on arrival. The heat pump is also an air-conditioner.
Your drive in is through native bush so keep your eye out for the wildlife, many of which make their presence felt in the dusk silence.
Bruny Island extends 55 km from Dennes Point in the north to Cape Bruny Lighthouse in the south with a modest resident human population of around 800. Access is via a vehicular ferry from Kettering, a half hour drive south from Hobart.
The island is rich with specialty produce and craft cottage industries; however, you need to bring your own food for your stay. Tea, coffee, and basic cooking condiments are provided to assist you on arrival.
We are a 15-20 minute drive from the ferry disembarkation at Roberts Point.
Within a 15 minute drive from Echidna on Bruny you can enjoy fresh local oysters, artisan French-style cheeses, locally smoked meats, inviting beaches for walking and swimming, a cafe with an outstanding view, an art gallery showcasing local artists, Tasmanian whiskies.
A number of moderate-difficulty bush and coastal walks are within a short drive. The historic Bruny Island Quarantine Station is a 20-minute walk away.
