About this property
Blue Magnolia - Hidden Gem
There's a secret location at the end of a lane way where Blue Magnolia lies. This 1840s Heritage Listed stone cottage has been lovingly restored and extended, transforming it into a gorgeous, spacious, contemporary one bed accommodation. Blue Magnolia offers privacy, comfort and space in a unique location in central Hobart.
The front courtyard features a stunning stone wall and contemplation bench. Entering through the new front door leads to the well designed, high spec kitchen, great for those who love cooking. The expansive glass sliding doors opens on to an outdoor decking perfect for alfresco dining. The living spaces located within the stone walls of the old cottage have been modernized and meticulously appointed and furnished.
Enjoy a good book by the gas fire place in the cozy reading nook or hang out, relax and watch a movie in the living room.
The luxurious light filled sleeping space is reached by a wide staircase dramatically illuminated by a glass ceiling. The glass ceiling is repeated in the en suite revealing an ever changing skyscape which can be enjoyed as you soak is the deep luxurious bath.
Blue Magnolia is fully self-contained and private, accommodates two people and is for guests to fully enjoy. Breakfast goodies and some staples are provided to get you started. There are two outdoor areas; the front courtyard and the back deck, which receives the morning sun and is a perfect place for alfresco dining.
There is an easy to use Miele washer/ dryer laundry. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board are upstairs. Instructions are in the Compendium.
There is street parking with some 2 hour restriction during the day in front of the property but further up and across the street there are no restriction.
Blue Magnolia is designed for a private getaway. Everything will be set up and provided before your arrival and we endeavor to make your stay special. There is no need for direct interaction with our guests, however if necessary, we are available through contact by mobile or email. Enjoy your privacy!
Check in time is 2:00 pm and check out time is 10:00am. There can be some flexibility with this if so please let me know what your plans are.
Blue Magnolia is is a five minute walk from the city center and all it offers. It is central to everything: Salamanca Place, Battery Point, the North Hobart restaurant strip, the waterfront and its myriad restaurant strip, the waterfront and its myriad galleries and restaurants, are but a five minute drive away.
For those who like to cook there are many places within a very short walking distance to buy good quality and gourmet food.
* Huon Valley Meats, gourmet butcher is located across the street on the corner of Goulburn and Molle street.
* Next door is the famous Pigeon Hole Café which sells great breads and baked goods.
* Eumarrah organic and natural food store is located one block down Goulburn street.
* Truckle & co – cheese, fine foods and wine store is only three blocks away on Bathurst
street.
One of the features of Hobart is its breathtaking setting; nestled between the lofty heights of Mount Wellington (Indigenous name: kunanyi) and the sparkling estuary of the Derwent river. One of the most enjoyable ways to experience the beauty of Hobart is take a cruise. Boats leave from Watermans Dock in the city. Hobart is host to many superb and exciting festivals including: Dark MoFo, Mona Foma, The Summer Festival, The Festival of Voices, The Wooden Boat Festival, The Tasmanian Arts Festival, The Taste Festival, The Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. Whether it’s Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter there is always something on in Hobart to enrich the senses and inspire the soul.
Blue Magnolia is located within walking distance of the city, but the easiest and most convenient way to see the many attractions that Hobart offers is by car. Alternatively, cabs are easily accessible and affordable and UBER has recently entered the market in Hobart as well. Hobart also has a public transport bus system.

About the host
Hosted by Eve Dembowski
My husband and I love bringing old buildings back to life, creating beautiful spaces with quality design and an eye for detail. When we bought Blue Magnolia the 1850 stone cottage had an 1950's lean-to addition which houses the very uninviting kitchen and bathroom. We set out to make this an oasis to be enjoyed by all.
Why they chose this property
Hobart holds a special place in our hearts. We created Blue Magnolia because we love this beautiful city and Tasmania. Sometimes an opportunity presents itself and you just have to grab it. That was how we felt when we found this old building, full of history. It meant so much to be able to restore it, giving it new life. The end result was truly a labor of love and has exceeded our expectations. We are proud to share it with visitor from around the globe.
What makes this property unique
The location of Blue Magnolia, tucked away from the street and yet within walking distance from the city center, Salamanca place. It is comfortable and nurturing environment for anyone wanting to get away and yet remain close to the action.
