Private, spacious and remote location was an ideal setting for quality family time. The home was beautiful and rustic and included many interesting photos and pieces of history about Ted Williams.
We had a wonderful stay at the Red Sox Retreat. It was spacious and comfortable with all the appliances needed to accommodate our families needs. The grounds are stunning and it's very peaceful. I would highly recommend and will definitely look stay there again during our next visit to Putney.
We had a great time at this Redsox retreat. This is our second year back and we just loved it.There is plenty of space to roam around and be comfortable. Huge kitchen and just about everything you need to cook with. The beds were very comfortable and bedrooms huge with attached bathrooms that was an added bonus. The hardwood floors are gorgeous as is all the memorabilia from the Red Sox days. Our only complaint was that we could not control the heat. We tried numerous times to turn it down and even ended up shutting it off upstairs and it still stayed at 79 degrees. Not sure if there was an issue or if it just kept running because it was so cold outside. We ended up opening windows which helped a lot. The views are stunning, the house is very comfy especially for our group of 9 and we just loved it. Would stay here again if in the area!!
The visit was fantastic. The owner/manager of the property was very communicative and quick to respond with any questions. The place was a wonderful house to visit with friends. Plenty of space to gather in the kitchen/living room area. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you for a great time!

Beautiful
Unfortunately, we didn't have the best weather, but this space was still amazing!!! Communication was easy with the owners, and they were very responsive. I loved how things were labeled for ease. This was a perfect and beautiful getaway
We stayed here during a recent trip to the area for golfing. While not baseball enthusiasts, we very much enjoyed the Ted Williams and Red Sox theme. So much history and memorabilia, it was also educational! You could feel the passion his family had when renovating and decorating the place.
The view was fantastic and the location was easy to access and find.
The house was very clean and accommodating. It had all the utensils we needed, including a coffee bar.
We hope to stay again next year!
We were very excited to find this property! Our family is from Westminster and we’ve outgrown guest rooms and couches. Renting two hotel rooms in Bratt or Springfield or Keene has been a drag. This was great! Everyone got their own bed, plenty of bathrooms and showers, quiet setting. Beautiful views, and just a few minutes to both grandparents!
The teens had fun trying to figure out who Ted Williams was and looking up the family’s histories. House is full of memorabilia for Ted and his wife. A bear game by one of the mornings to poke through the trash, we didn’t see him, but were then glued to the windows hoping to see him come back.
Definitely coming back here every visit to VT!
Ted Williams' onetime home turned out to be the perfect place for our little family reunion, with a variety of seating and sleeping arrangements indoors and expansive grounds outside. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen roomy and well stocked. Not everybody in our party cared about all the Wiliams-related artwork and memorabilia, but I was thrilled to be amongst it all -- and some of it is quite impressive. The location is secluded -- but so is practically everything in this part of Vermont, so the need to travel some distance for groceries, restaurants, etc. is a given. It's such a lovely area, you won't mind the drives. Anytime I'm bringing a large group of people to southeastern Vermont, I'll hope to book this house again.
The Splendid Splinter is a real show piece! Everything the listing claims and then some! We had such a great stay and enjoyed every nook and cranny of memorabilia.
There was plenty of space inside and outside for kids to adventure while the adults could gather in the kitchen/living room area. Large dining room with the fireplace also gave the adults an area at night while kids slept to socialize. The bathtub and sauna were added bonuses, b the property grounds themselves were amazing to explore!

Vermont's Finest
We arrived shortly after the southern Vermont area was hit by devastating flooding. Roads near the Splendid Splinter were being repaired and upgraded, but the Splinter was easily accessible and high and dry. The site has a beautiful overlook of the Connecticut River and New Hampshire. And that's before you go into the house.
The house is a wonderful mix of old and new that commemorates Ted Williams (Boston Red Sox #9 Hall of famer,) his wife Delores, and their family. The house was renovated a couple of years ago and all kitchen appliances and bathrooms are high-end and modern. Everything you need, other than food, is supplied. The weather was hot, 80+, while we were there, but the central air conditioning kept us very comfortable indoors.
We've rented other high quality places, but none have been better than this. I would go back any time. Maybe in colder weather so we could enjoy the woodstove and fireplaces. Lots to do in the area. We could easily have stayed more than five nights.
This house is down right amazing. Ignoring the fact that this was owned and is adorned with memorabilia from the greatest red sock of all time, the house is gorgeous. With wide pine floors, hand hewn post and beam construction, beautiful landscaping, and views to die for this property is amazing. We had 10 people and were very comfortable. Adrienne and Claudia were the best hosts you could ask for. We will try to come back as much as possible. Highly recommend!!
We rented both properties at the Splendid Splinter to celebrate a 50th anniversary as well as family reunion. The home is amazing with wonderful history as well as beautiful construction and finishes. It is peaceful and quiet with great views from the decks. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking to get away from the crowds but to have some rustic elegance while away.
Even in the chilly early spring it was exquisite—and the story around Ted Williams family was fun
It was delightful— even when we had a small heater issue, it was fixed immediately. The only concern was some of the pictures on the Miss Vermont room we’re not appropriate for a little boys. It was only soft porn—but any is offensive. We HOPE to go back

Oasis away from home
This was such a great experience and a way to relax and unwind. Not only were the Accommodations above and beyond, the views were absolutely breathtaking. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here and we can’t wait to go back!!
We initially found house due to location, chose it for its amenities (and the fun twist for baseball nut members of family), and fully enjoyed our stay.

Fabulous property with great history
Splendid Splinter is a wonderful place to relax and get away. It is very clean and nicely decorated and has a breathtaking view. The communication was fast and easy! The host was more than responsive and accommodating. She also took time to show us around the house and so much history that it contained. It’s like a museum which also happens to be a residence. We are looking forward to staying at this beautiful home again in the future!
