Cabin within sight distance of Lake Superior, Autrain River. Free Kayak rental

This Cabin is within a short walking distance of the Beach on Lake Superior and the AuTrain River. Spend some time relaxing on the Beach or swim in the warm water of the River where it empties into the Lake. This location is perfect for a home base of all of the local attractions this area has to offer. Within 15 minutes you are in Munising where you can do the Pictured Rocks cruise, Shipwreck Tour or Kayak tour and many more. Munising is the start of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and there's days worth of activities there and the surrounding area. See over a dozen waterfalls all within 30 minutes from the Cabin.

The cabin is done completely in custom woodwork. As you enter, you'll see the homemade barn doors for bedrooms and hallway closets. As you walk past, you will enter the main living area that is all an open concept and all done in custom woodwork. There's locally sourced Hemlock walls and homemade rustic cabinets. The Kitchen is part of the open concept that is perfect for anyone who likes to cook. With a central stove and counter area, the cook can engage with the other group members as they sit around the bar that goes around the kitchen or watch TV while they cook. In the corner of the cabin is a homemade wet bar, (no liquor, SORRY!) The main bathroom is large and has a custom steel shower, the other bathroom is in the back off the laundry room and has a full size tub and shower. In the bedrooms, one has a king, the other has a queen and the 3rd bedroom has a full on bottom and twin on top for sleeping accommodations for 7. All of the 3 bedrooms have smart TV's.

Included in your stay is a gas flat top with propane, paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher soap, laundry detergent and softener as well as coffee filters for our regular drip coffee maker. We don't provide toiletries. All bedding, towels and linens provided.

Out back is a fenced in yard with a covered patio with table, chairs and flattop grill. Also a fire pit area and chairs for sitting provide the perfect opportunity to enjoy the fire, outdoors, each other and the stars..... For pet owners, there's a pen area with a door to the cabin.

We're confident you will enjoy this cabin and the area as we have for years!

We were very comfortable at this cabin. When exploring both Marquette and Munising, this is a great location in between the two. Beds were super comfortable. The cabin is well-equipped. When we arrived, the floors were clean - everything was clean!

We love this place!

This was our second time staying here and we had a great time…AGAIN! The cabin is just our style with a great fenced backyard for dogs. Only a short walk to the lake, groceries, pizza, etc. It’s a really cool property!

We enjoyed this cabin as a great place to return after a long day of hiking and sight seeing. It was well maintained and offered a very relaxing atmosphere.

The cabin is advertised as “sight distance to Superior”, unable to see lake from any of the cabin windows or yard. Cabin was “dank” cavern like. Seemed relatively clean although the finishings were very rough wood. The owner has a sign that is meant to be humorous but considering the obviously offensive picture

Perfect little cabin!

Great place!

This was the perfect place for my family and I to stay while we crossed something off our bucket list- kayaking on Lake Superior! We were only a 15 minute drive from where the guide service was in Munising. The cabin had everything we needed and so much more. The fenced-in yard was great for our dogs. The beautiful beach was a very short walk away, and the grocery store just up the road had a great selection of items if you forget anything. The hosts were very quick to respond anytime we had a question. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Home fits the feeling of the UP, amazing!

This home was perfect for 3 adults, 2 teens and 2 dogs. Loved having a fenced back yard. The beach is only a few mn walk and amazing. Atv trails very accessible as well. East check out directions as well. We plan to return to this same home next year. Highly recommended.

Quaint and creative

My family loved our stay here! The house was comfortable and beautifully designed!! We were so happy with the TV's and good internet service for the Upper Peninsula. We have dogs and appreciated the enclosed yard. The location was great! We were close to a beautiful part of the Superior shore, within walking distance of the kayak rental and near a market. We certainly come again!:)

Nice Party Cabin

The place was great. Beds were super comfy and having 2 bathrooms was a real plus. Communication with owner was fast and friendly. Bar area was nice. Great space for meeting up with friends. Microwave was located fairly high up, it wasn't a problem since my husband is 6'6", but there's no way I could've reached it if i were alone.

Great Location, Nice Stay

Despite the weather being fall like in August, we enjoyed our stay at da Au Train Cabin! The location was great - within walking distance to the beach, a small grocery store and restaurant. Close to Munising, Pictured Rocks and lots of waterfalls and hiking. The cabin was, well a cabin. Rustic is maybe a good word to describe it, but the beds and couches were comfy. We did not get to enjoy the outdoor space much due to the weather. The yard would have been great if we had brought our dogs.

Great location! Close to the lake and close to town.

The house was only three short blocks off the main highway that runs along the Lake Superior shoreline. It had everything we two couples needed for our visit, and the host responded immediately to our communications. I believe the description said we had a view of the lake, but I think we would have had to stand in the street to see it. No matter. We loved our stay and would stay again if in the area.

Great place, great trip

The place is just as listed. Cool open concept. It was my partner and our two dogs and the fenced in yard was perfect for them and felt private for us. This would be a great stay with friends. The open concept kitchen, game table and back yard patio/grill/fire pit seems perfect for a group. Close to Munising but a nice grocery right up the street. My tip would be to bring blankets or dog beds if you are bringing your pups. Cory was responsive to questions and we had a vey relaxing, short getaway. Thanks again Cory!

Tons of storage and close to beach!

Everything about this cabin was wonderful! We have 2 children (ages 4 and 3) and it was great for them. They loved playing hide and seek in all the cubbies holes and playing in the backyard. There is so much storage everywhere which is really nice. We like to cook our own meals when we travel so having space to put our away our groceries was great. It was also nice to have lots of space to put away toys and beach gear. Every piece of furniture and appliance is top notch. The bathroom with the shower is a dream! So big and roomy! We felt very comfortable. The only critique is the floor was a little uneven and quite dirty when we arrived (the bottom of my feet were dark brown). It’s not a deal breaker for us since I knew that we would be tracking in lots of sand from the beach. Other than the floor, the cabin was spotless. Every dish, counter space, and bathroom was VERY CLEAN. We aren’t heavy drinkers but the cabin has a neat bar area to mix drinks. They have everything you could possible need (minus the ingredients) to make your own cocktails. I would highly recommend this cabin!

Hi, my name is Cory, plain and simply, I am a Yooper. I live locally year round and am a wealth of knowledge when it comes to exploring our area. I graduated high school and college here and I am an avid outdoors-man, I camp, hike, bike, kayak, ski, snowshoe, ATV, motorcycle, snowmobile and Jeep nearly the entire U.P. and if you have heard of it, chances are I've been there, or done that. I also know some places 'slightly off the radar' if you are looking to get away from the tourist areas. Just ask, I'll be happy to give you advice.

Why they chose this property

Quite simply because it's my own home! I have lived and worked here since 2011. Before that it was in my family as a Sports Shop. They purchased it in 1999 and we ran a canoe livery and sports shop for several years. Then there was the recession...... Move forward a few years and a ten year project started and ended in July 2020 with what you see now. It has been long, but so worth it. This cabin is special
