Great Adventure

All the comforts of home with the luxury of a hotel. Beautiful view. Very top of the smokies. It's truly an adventure. Owners are quick to respond. Everything from check out to check in was easy and seamless. Drive up and down the mountain was the trickiest part. Highly recommend.

Spring Break 2025

Everything was great. My only complaints are nit-picking. If you are not from the mountains, know that the roads to get to the cabin are terrifying. The cabin itself is a bit dated and the dishwasher is obnoxiously loud but nothing that lowers a rating. The fireplace should come with directions. Otherwise an amazing view, comfortable beds, and a truly remarkable vacation.

It was great

It scary at night because of the forest that’s right in front, but besides that it’s really good to stay at. Had an amazing time, and it was equipped with all the stuff we needed. It was very high up, but we did get to se snow because of that.

Great stay in smokys!

Lined it! Bears were present every day (Oct). The hot tub deck was nice and the kitchen accessories were plentiful (unlike some places). Drive up Is a bit hairy but I've to plenty of places like that. Beds were nice L

Wonderful cabin—hard to find.

Clean, nice, well taken care of, well stocked with necessities. Got there at night in the rain and couldn’t find it. Had to go back down the mountain and get a hotel room for two nights. Other than that it was terrific.

comfortable

The place was very clean and peaceful, the hot tub was great after hikes. BUT, the drive up the mountain to the place was steep and long so we would plan only one trip down a day and never in the dark.

Smoky Mountain cabin

The rental was everything described in the listing. We love the our place, very roomy, comfortable, hot tub was great and the view was awesome. The kitchen had most of the essentials but needs scissors. The drive up to the cabin was challenging with many curves and steep hills but drive slow and be very cautious. Other than the drive the cabin was very warm and inviting.

Great little cabin

The house was adorable. The drive up the mountain was VERY steep. Not for people who are scared of heights! But what a view. Everything was extremely clean and fresh. My only complaint is that the fireplace did not work correctly.

A little touch up

Two of the eyes on the stove didn’t work and needs a bigger hot water heater because you can only fill one tub up before it’s no more hot water to use

ok cabin

The cabin needs to have a grill that can be moved. It rained a couple of days and the grill there can not be moved and is not big enough to cook more than a couple of burgers. A broom! The leaves at this time of the year are falling and kept being tracked in. No broom to sweep the front porch or deck off.

Could Use some updating

I have no major complaints other than the view is a bit blocked by trees. We did not cook hardly at all, so the kitchen satisfied our needs. The place needs a bit of updating and some details need attending to...The carpet had patches that were not secured to floor...Couch had a scent that smelled like pet urine...The chairs in front of the fireplace we not the most comfortable, but were OK. Overall we enjoyed our stay but probably will not stay in this cabin ever again...

This is an okay cabin

The overall impression of this cabin is positive. The reason it's just okay is that there seemed to be the impression "just enough" was done to accommodate guest. There could have been more clean towels, Better pillows, we finally found the extra pillow cases when we stripped the bed. They were under the sheets. it would have been nice to have minimal spices like salt and pepper available. We were there an hour early and had to wait on the front porch until 4p. It really should accommodate an early arrival without threat of additional nights stay. Little things like DVD/BLUE RAY in each room. Eventually you get use to the alpine slide clanking down the hill. On the plus side, The gas fireplace was great and the hot tub was wonderful. The view was Okay. It was out there..but blocked by trees. Location ... Plus..Very secluded Minus..Very secluded. If you are looking for a few days of quiet and solitude, this would be a great place. If you are looking to get involved in town or anywhere other than the cabin. It was not so good. That drive up and down the hill grows old very quickly.

Just the space for a quiet place

The Above and Beyond cabin was ideal for both couples. The layout is a perfect design with the two master suites divided by the common area of kitchen, dining, and living space. We saw bears and even had one young one play on the deck in the early hours one morning (We have pictures). Our initial arrival was also greeted by a timber rattler (sunning after a full meal it appeared). Wild turkey were also present. Just the closeness of nature we appreciate. The cabin is perched near the top of the mountain which makes the drive up interesting and requires concentration. We were thankful for our Maps application. Once on site, all we needed was present. Having read the comments of previous reviews, we were armed with Febreze to deal with the odor lingering from a pet friendly environment. It did. We did not bring pets but are happy that others could. My wife and I stayed in the raccoon suite and our friends in the bear suite. Both were comfortable and met our needs quite well. Our bathroom (raccoon suite) had a toilet in need of attention (it ran constantly and the tank interior needed cleaning). This is a normal maintenance issue I am confident it will be addressed. The other gotcha we experiences was with the DVD player that needs repair or replacing. The unit operated properly for about 20 minutes and then froze. This was only a minor inconvenience since our purpose did not rely upon DVD. I do not want to leave readers with the idea that this cabin is in poor repair but only wish to acknowledge normal maintenance issues that may not be obvious during cleaning. We (all four of us) loved our stay and hope to stay again in the future. Above and Beyond was a great place to stay, enjoy, and experience the mountains. It is convenient enough to the area attractions yet secluded enough to make it a preferred location for us. For two couples, the layout and accommodations were precisely what we desired. You should try it for your next visit as long as it doesn't keep us from returning.

Beautiful View

Above and Beyond describes this property accurately! The home is at the top of a mountain. Worth the drive but will warn anyone with fear of driving extremely curvy, mountainous roads! Loved the serenity after a fun, but hectic trip into town each day!

Way up there - loved it!

The house was very nice and perfect for our family. The area was a lot of fun. Be warned though the drive to get up to the cabin is not for the weak hearted. Only thing I would recommend is bringing your own pan if you plan on doing some cooking, the ones the house provides are very cheap and don't heat well.

Remote yet close to town

We loved our stay at Above and Beyond! The chalet was comfortable, well equipped and quiet. It's very high up as others have noted, but we got used to the drive and its twists and turns. Bears and cubs abounded - we saw some most every day during our stay. We loved the hot tub. Although high up, the trees blocked the view, however we enjoyed the privacy. Highly recommend for a comfortable place to stay after a day of exploring!

be prepared

This cabin was beautiful and comfortable Kitchen is just the right size and well stocked with pretty much anything you need to make meals at the cabin. My son and friends enjoyed the hot tub. We did have a bear encounter so be prepared for that. The biggest thing is the steep climb and curvy roads to the mountain. We did not know how curvy and steep the climb was and we arrived after dark and it was raining. It made the trip up the mountain harrowing for me and nerve-wracking for the rest of the group. If you rent this cabin plan accordingly for the steep climb and curvy roads up to the cabin. Other than that it was wonderful. Oh and poor cell reception in the cabin. You don't really get good cell reception till you get about half way back down the mountain.
