About the host

My principal home is in Melbourne. I am married with a grown up family. Recently retired from residential real estate sales, my husband and I have long awaited plans to do some road trips and also spend more time with our grandchildren. Over the past 12 years, we have really enjoyed our coastal escape. However, going forward, we are making it available to holidaymakers seeking a short stay rental.

Why they chose this property

When we bought this property, it was a family decision. Wearing our real estate caps, we initially chose Murundah for it's convenient location. We can walk to the beach and seldom need to drive to the Blairgowrie Village in summer when traffic is very busy.
Also, we were searching for a beach house when our youngest daughter was aged 16 and therefore public transport was a consideration. The nearby bus stops (Portsea bound/return) on Point Nepean Road, was an important factor for her independence to meet up with friends along the coast.
Living in a two-storey house up in town, we very much appreciate the convenience of single level living, especially when my elderly mother holidayed with us at the beach ... and of course the ease of how quick it is to tidy up a compact home!
We also love the wide block with two driveways for off-street parking.
The moonah trees in the front garden provide a cool retreat from the hot sun and are very beautiful ... we never tire of our pretty elevated views from the front rooms all year round. The birdlife and all their beautiful sounds bring you in touch with nature and you feel yourself wind down almost immediately upon arrival. We sleep really well here too.
We are members of the Blairgowrie Yacht Club and really enjoy calling in there for lunch on the deck with beautiful views right on the water. With more and more people choosing to make their permanent home on the Mornington Peninsula and plenty of others renting short stays, it's our experience you will always bump into someone you know when holidaying here!

What makes this property unique

Our home is in it's original classic 80's style and has been beautifully maintained by ourselves and the previous owner. We believe it offers the main amenities desired for a relaxing holiday break. Sometimes, it simply provides a place to base ourselves for attending events or attractions on the Mornington Peninsula ... for example, as an occasional treat, we love the Peninsula Hot springs. We try for an early morning booking in the public area and the cost seems quite reasonable for such a spectacular experience at dawn. Over our summer stays, there's often a family member taking the ferry from Sorrento to historic Queenscliff (crossing takes only 45 minutes) ... it's a great way to have a day trip on foot or take the car and visit the Bellarine Peninsula.
Travel time for us from town to Rye is around 1hr15mins in regular traffic conditions and using Peninsula Link, it's certainly an easy trip these days.
