Amazing location - 5 minute walk to town but it feels as if you are miles from anywhere. The Yurt is a fabulous space, warm, welcoming and wonderful. In my opinion, it could easily be a "get away from it all" honeymoon location. Great hosts too.
My friend and I loved our stay! The Yurt was beautiful and tidy

About the host
Hosted by Kris
My partner Mal and myself Kris have lived here in the main house permanently since moving here in 2020. We also have a bedroom and en-suite in the main house, which is listed on Air bnb. We love it here because we can walk to town in 10 minutes, yet feel like we're in a quiet valley full of the sounds of bird-life and the creek.
Why they chose this property
The Yurt is an amazing space, being quite deceptively spacious and open. Everyone should spend a night or two in one, at least once in their lives. The kitchen is attached and though small, is light and big enough to eat in. There is also a picnic table outside next to the BBQ. Although near the main house, the area is quite private and has its own driveway.
What makes this property unique
Thames is at the foothills of the Coromandel Ranges. Nearby there is the Kaueranga River, with lots of secluded swimming holes, and the coast, with great swimming beaches which are never crowded. We have a walking track starting from our street which leads up to Crosbie's Hut, and nearby, the 3 hour Pinnacles walk which also has a hut for overnight stays. There is the cycle trail which you can follow to Miranda, the bird coast, or to Paeroa, Te Aroha or the spectacular Waikino Gorge near Waihi. 'Jolly Bikes' in Thames can rent you a bike, either pedal power or electric.
