About this property
Peaceful Cabin with mountain view! Hot tub, fire-pit and indoor fireplace!
* If we don't have the travel dates you're hoping for, or you're looking for a getaway with less bedrooms, please check out our other nearby cabins: vrbo listing #: 464821 and 3376684.
Jack's Retreat - completed Feb 2018! Our cabin provides a peaceful, private getaway in the mountains, but is still only a 23 minute drive to downtown Asheville. It offers 3 bedrooms (master on the main floor and 2 bedrooms on the lower level).
The master bedroom has a king bed and the en-suite bathroom has a glass shower with a pebble-floor. And a big rain shower-head. The downstairs bedrooms both have one queen bed and share a "Jack and Jill" bathroom with a tiled tub/shower.
The cabin faces south, so sunshine is abundant on sunny days and sunrises/sunsets can be viewed from the rockers and swing on the decks.
The hot tub is accessible from the lower level deck - it sits out in the open; you can enjoy a nightly soak under the stars or savor the mountain views during the day.
We named this cabin after our son, Jack, born 2014. He played a big part in the building process.
With all modern amenities, one won't need to leave the cabin, but the surrounding area has so much to offer to the adventurous at heart. Conveniently located 23 minutes to downtown Asheville (Merrimon Avenue exit off I-240), 18 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway, 24 minutes to Biltmore Estate, 20 minutes to Black Mountain, 32 minutes to Chimney Rock/Lake Lure and 40 minutes to Hendersonville, this quiet getaway is still close to all the attractions and activities.
Check out our other two cabins: Tyler's Hideout, a cozy one-bedroom cabin, which you pass half-way up the driveway, is named after our middle son, Tyler; vrbo listing id: 3376684. Both cabins are private and have their own parking areas. Lazy Bear Cabin, a 2-bedroom cabin, just a few minutes away; vrbo listing id: 464821

We had a fantastic stay. The cabin was beautiful and we loved being close enough to go into Asheville or hiking for the day then come back and enjoy the views.
The cabin was absolutely gorgeous- clean, well appointed, and so comfortable. The host was very communicative and ensured we had everything needed to have a fantastic stay. We’re already looking to book again in a few months!
The listing description of "peaceful cabin" is absolutely correct. We had a wonderful stay, the kitchen, bathrooms, & laundry room are fully stocked, the decor is perfect for a cabin, the beds are comfortable. Lisa & Jay were wonderful hosts. It is so calming to sit on either the upper or lower balconies and just enjoy the quiet and the views.
This was the best rental property we have stayed in. The property was very clean. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking during our stay. And, the communication from the host was clear, responsive, and friendly. We had a great experience.
We had a fabulous time at this home. The woodwork is stunning , the kitchen fully stocked with everything we needed and communication with the owners was easy and prompt. We enjoyed the hot tub and firepit not to mention comfortable beds. Highly recommend!!

Thank you for the great review . Hope to have you back one day!
Excellent home in beautiful mountain surroundings! Our host Lisa was absolutely fantastic and the home exceeded our expectations! Great home to getaway but still close enough to enjoy great food, area golf, and hiking. Will definitely stay here again!
This is our second annual trip to Asheville and we knew we wanted to stay again in this cabin. It impressed us so much the first time around and the second time did not disappoint. The cabin is top notch. The booking process is always so orderly and organized and the cabin is top notch and clean and so cozy! Highly recommend!
This place is just like the picture show and more. It was exactly what we needed for our family getaway to celebrate my mom’s birthday. The place is beautiful with a beautiful view and very cozy.
Fantastic property, location, and host! Great communication from the host and they care about every little detail. Very quiet area, awesome amenities, and easy to find.
The house has everything you need in it to have a great time with family or friends. It’s just the right distance from downtown and tucked away up on the mountain.

About the host
Hosted by Lisa Gurney
Jay and Lisa met in Asheville as teenagers. We both love the outdoors, love to travel, but most of all we love to call Asheville home. The mountains and views in this area are what refresh our souls - such a gorgeous area to live and play. We welcome you to come experience Asheville and everything the city and surrounding areas have to offer! We're pretty confident you will not be disappointed by our cabin. And Asheville itself!
Why they chose this property
Because we love it and believe you will, too. :o) We chose this piece of land for the privacy, woods and mountain view. The rest is history - took us 14 months to build and complete (children can slow jobs down quite a bit, we discovered). But nonetheless, our family of four was involved in every aspect of construction.
What makes this property unique
Since the outdoors and nature are a huge part of our family's lives, we selected bear decor to compliment the stunning animal that shares the Ashevile area mountains with us. Every now and then a bear may be spotted during the summer and fall months. But plenty of birds, bats and owls (both at night), etc. can be seen or heard. We have a resident lizard that sun-bathes on the rocks, and a couple blue jays that have made this spot their home.
