The bunkhouse was beautiful and clean. Downstairs bed was very comfortable. The queen bed upstairs felt like it was going to fall apart! The king bed was very comfortable also. I would definitely recommend it.

"Thank you, Marsha. We're glad you enjoyed your stay at The Bunkhouse in historical Mackinaw City.
I will attend to the bed you mentioned. Thanks again."
House was as described. Beds comfortable. Only issues to note is the gas grill was not operable or clean and the grass was not mowed by fire pit. Did appreciate that there was a good amount of wood available for fires and outdoor seating. There was a motel/apartments across the street with people outside late at night but they were quiet and was never an issue. Close walking distance to shops and the ferry. Would stay again if in the area.
Great location within walking distance of ferry dock and downtown shops. Property was clean, spacious and really comfortable for our family with two adult kids on a trip with parents—we all had our own space! Lots of stocked book shelves and yard games. Fire pit was a fun evening gathering spot. The only downside was the late-night noise from the apartments across the street.
Overall a great stay—would definitely recommend.
Very clean and extremely convenient to all attractions, restaurants and breweries. Walking distance to 75% of Main Street attractions and ferry. Nice clean kitchen and bathrooms. Very quiet at night. Steep staircase to second floor not for handicap on second floor but convenient bedroom and full bathroom on first floor. Very detailed instructions. Thank you for everything and very highly recommended.

Minor repairs needed. Excepting that, it was a nice place to stay. There was no communication with property manager.

Charm and character
The Bunkhouse was clean, comfortable and full of character and charm. It served our needs well. zi would offer two suggestions to the Owner/Host. 1. The recessed landing at the top of the stairs is dangerous, especially at night. It should be the same level as the hall and flooring leading into the bathroom. 2. The main level bath and commode need floor work too. I felt that a seat belt was almost needed to use the commode, due to the slanting of the floor and toilet! We managed, but it should be addressed.
Property was nice, everyone liked the size and location, however there were small things that need fixing.
Chair in small bedroom wicker chair upstairs a had indentation which, blind in upstairs bathroom is broke on the bottom, one of the lights by the parking pad is broke, and the stove hood has a piece drooping. I sent picts to our contact thru a text but did not hear back. Also there is a light bulb out on the stove hood and upstairs bathroom.
We loved the fire Pitt and wood supply.

Get away with friends
We have friends out of state who have never been to beautiful Mackinac city or the island. The property was within 15 minutes walking to Shepler’s boat, had some great places to eat. We were able to do everything from the falls, the island and even the mystery spot and we were able to all stay in one area. I did try to contact the property manager 3 times without any communication back. We wanted to know about early check in which showed we could f we contacted, then we had no space in the trash can and wanted to know if it was acceptable me to put trash outside of the bin. The bedrooms are small so pictures are a little deceiving as we had our little girl with us who we have a blow up toddler bed for and we ended up just putting her in bed with us downstairs in a queen which made for a rough night. We would have slept in the upstairs king room but there is a lip from the bedrooms to the bathroom and we’re worried with her going downstairs at night. Overall it is a good location.

Quiet and Convenient
We enjoyed our 3-night stay. The home is less than a mile from where you catch the ferry to Mackiniac Island, which made it very convenient. There is also a small but well-stocked grocery store less than a mile away if you want to cook meals in-house. There are also many restaurants less than a mile away as the house seems to be on the edge of a touristy area of Mackinaw City. The house was in a quiet neighborhood although right across the street was a Motel, which concerned me. We were there in early June and the motel seemed to be closed. Not sure if it is permanently closed or if the hotel is seasonal housing for island workers. The inside was clean. The rooms were small but the beds were comfortable. The toilet in the downstairs bathroom tilts sideways quite a bit -- I noticed this in other comments as well -- but not unusable. The property description mentioned parking for 6 cars but I only saw space for two. There is no AC, which we did not need, and no dishwasher, just FYI. I would be willing to stay there again on another visit to the island.
