Enjoy a cosy getaway in our converted containers. Set amongst mature native trees, the birdlife is gorgeous to listen to.
Fully lined and insulated with modern features. A 50 min drive from Tauranga and only 20 min from Rotorua city.
The 1000sqm section has plenty of room for boat parking and is only 180m from the boat ramp. There are great forest walks in the vicinity.
After a day out, enjoy an evening relaxing by the chiminea with a drink and toasting marshmallows while gazing at the stars.
As this is our holiday home, it is very well set up and comfortable. It is cozy in winter, and in summer, you can spread out on the large section, which is large enough to park and turn boats around on. The large deck gets sun almost all day, so lovely to relax on in the outdoor beanbags.
A barbeque is provided for cooking outside if you wish. Indoors there is an oven, double hotplate, electric frying pan, and crockpot.
If you have a boat, you are directly across from Honeymoon and Champagne Bay and a short ride to the hot pools. It's a great ride to Okere Falls Store for lunch, also. The boat ramp provides ample parking. If you don't have a boat, you can swim from the beach or treat yourself at Hells Gate thermal pools.
Golf lovers, the Hinehopu Golf Club is only 5km away.
Due to the location some phone networks have differing coverage. 2 degrees has no issues at all, others differ depending on where you are on the property.
3 kayaks are provided for your use. Please stay within the shoreline and the yellow 5-knot markers. Be aware that lake conditions can change quickly so stay within your capabilities.
Bedroom 1: Within the main container, super cosy and with a wardrobe.
Bedroom 2: External access but 5 steps from the main container. Coffee-making facilities mean you can wake up and enjoy a cuppa in bed. This room also has its own couch to relax in your own space.
EXTRA GUESTS: If you want to book 1-2 extra guests, please let us know the circumstances when enquiring. We are happy to be flexible where possible. Over summer, we are happy to negotiate for a campervan or tent on site.
LINEN: Due to the location of our place from our home, we prefer you to bring your own sheets and towels. If this is not possible we can supply linen for the cost of $20 per bedroom (sheets/pillowcases and 2x towels).
Both beds require queen sheets and pillowcases.
Heating is provided in both spaces in winter and fans in summer.

Great place to stay with excellent access to boatramp and lake. Large section to lots of parking. Super comfy with everything thought of in terms of needs.
Great place for a rest. Ended up staying 5 days instead of 3. The ramp was very handy and the birdsong was unbelievable . Will come again. The host was a gem. Thank you.
Great location with a well equiped and homely place. Easy instructions, everything thought about. Felt at home.Short walk to the lake, friendly locals and beautiful bird song.Def recommend.
Ideal beautifully presented tiny home with everything you need and more. Very peaceful place to just relax and watch the beautiful sunsets. Ideal for the two of us with room for more. Great location for our fishing trip. Will definitely stay again
Such a cute lil place that has everything you need. Area is lovely and quiet. Absolute plus you have access to the Kayaks that you take around the corner to the lake. Magical to kayak around the lake. Will book again.
Very clean, comfortable, quiet and private. Very well planned and equiped. Great location for access to the other lakes. It was really helpful to have a range of information leaflets in the bach, although no WiFi and intermitant cell phone coverage made trip planning a little harder. But overall a great place for a relaxing stay.
We loved the layout and location of this converted container bach. We had everything we needed and it was clean and comfortable. Future renters should note that sheets/linens are extra. Also, it can get a little hot and cold inside due to lots of windows and original steel end doors. There are space heaters provided, but no air conditioning. We would definitely like to stay here again in the future.
We loved this place as a summer getaway vacation. Cosy house, nice deck, big section for the boat and a short distance to the boat ramp and lakeside. We'll be back for sure!

My husband and I live in Papamoa and this is our lake retreat. We built this ourselves through the transformation of shipping containers.
Why they chose this property
We love the peacefulness of this location, listening and watching the tuis, wood pigeons and other birds in the mature trees surrounding our property. It feels so secluded yet is only a short 20min drive into the city centre of Rotorua.
What makes this property unique
Not often do you get to stay in a true 'tiny home', that at the same time feels spacious with all the amenities you could want to live comfortably. The large section is perfect for tents, campervans and boats. It is a lovely safe neighbourhood with friendly neighbours.
