Formerly part of the farmhouse, this cottage was previously a farm worker's dwelling in the 18th century. It has been sympathetically converted back into a separate cottage and has the benefit of an oak beamed ceiling and an open fireplace. The living area has a 40" television, a settee and an electric reclining chair and a quality carpet. A dining table and chairs completes the living space. The cottage is warm and cosy with central heating. The large bedroom has a lovely view over farm land towards Bosley Cloud (hill) which is the local landmark. The bed can be either a luxurious queen-sized bed or alternatively converted into twin single beds. An inbuilt wardrobe, oak drawers, oak bedside cabinets and period dressing table completes the room. Quality bedding and towels are provided. The bathroom has a large shower, wc, wash basin and heated towel rail. A velux window creates a light and airy bathroom. The cottage is set on a working sheep and beef farm surrounded by farm land, streams and the River Dane. Guests are welcome to walk around the farmland, paddle in the streams, have picnics and fish in the river - as well as enjoying lambs, calves and wildlife in the farm fields. The Cottages are conveniently located on the A54 Congleton to Buxton road and are only 15 minutes drive away from the pretty market towns of Macclesfield, Congleton and Leek and the spa town of Buxton. The cottage is located on the borders of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire and is therefore conveniently located to visit the delights of all three counties. It is also conveniently positioned for visits to the Roman City of Chester with its zoo and race course, and vibrant cities of Manchester and Liverpool. Beautiful countryside and scenery is all around and for the walker, then Bosley Cloud, Macclesfield Forest, Teggs Nose, the Roaches and Hanging Stone are a must. Sailing, fishing, golfing, horse riding, mountain biking & cycling are all nearby as are a wealth of National Trust properties, historic houses and fabulous gardens. Jodrell Bank with its Lovell telescope and arbortoreum is close by and the Alton Towers theme park is also within easy reach. The Peak District with it's lovely villages, scenery and historic houses is also close by. Buxton with its glorious architecture, pavilion gardens and Opera House is a 'must see' as is the grand Chatsworth House known as the 'Queen of the Peaks' is approximately one hours drive away which is an absolute 'must see' as the 'Queen of the Peaks'. There is so much to see and do in this area - to meet everyone's interests and expectations. Our aim is for you to have a wonderful stay.

Thank you for giving our cottage five stars - our aim for all our guests is to provide accommodation to a high standard and to assist in a pleasant stay in our lovely area.
A very comfortable place to stay and well equipped except for a deeper pan suitable for a stir fry, preferably with a lid.
We hope to return as we loved the location, near enough to visit family in Manchester but in lovely countryside.

Many thanks for your lovely review of our Farmhouse Cottage - it is much appreciated. It will be lovely to welcome you back for a return stay. Best wishes Brenda & Tom
We were visiting from Canada and needed a place to stay while attending a wedding and visiting friends and relatives. This place provided just what we needed and we can recommend it to others.
A lovely spot in a countryside location. The cottage, on a working farm, was very clean and comfortable and offered everything needed for a short break. The location, to the side of the A54, was not without some traffic noise, but this was more than made up for by the ease of access to nearby market towns, the Peak District and Manchester itself. Farmhouse Cottage is somewhere we'd stay again.
Very clean and comfortable. A home away from home. Brenda and Tom were very accommodating.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are pleased to read that you enjoyed our cottage and found it to be clean, quiet and well equipped. Out aim is always to ensure that it is at the highest possible standard for our guests.
This was our second visit to this delightful cottage. It is very well equipped, good quality saucepans, knives etc in the kitchen. A very comfortable bed, large ensuite shower and an amazing view from the bedroom window.
Just up the road there is a lovely walk by the canal.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-day short break at Colley Farm Cottages. Brenda, the host, was very friendly and welcoming and the cottage was clean and comfortable. The location is great for walking and there are two National Trust properties nearby that are well worth visiting. The only downside from our point of view was a bit of traffic noise from the A54, which runs past the cottages.

Many thanks for your 5 star review of our Farmhouse Cottage. We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed both the cottage and our lovely area. It was a pleasure to have you to stay with us.
Excellent location for Congleton, Macclesfield, Leek and Stoke on Trent. Very Friendly property manager.
The property is very well presented with plenty of room for 2. Very comfortable bed and excellent bathroom and shower.
All round we would have no hesitation to recommend.
Cottage was charming, comfortable, clean and well equipped. However, the location was so bad that we never went out in the evening for fear of not finding the cottage in the dark when we came back.

Thank you for your lovely review of our cottage. We're so pleased to hear that you found it to the high standard that we consistently maintain for our guests. We're very sorry that you felt the location was hard to find - as this has never been raised as a problem by guests before. We are a working farm in a rural location - but are not 'tucked away' and therefore guests generally find our property with ease and are happy to go out in the evenings and in the daytimes without such concerns. Thank you for staying with us and best wishes, from Brenda & Tom

Very easy check in and check out and great communication with the owner Brenda. Definitely recommend you try this cottage
I’ll be going back there soon.

nice cottage but a lot of traffic noise
The cottage was ok but in front is a busy road, which caused a lot of noise during the day and at night.

Thank you for your review. I admit to being disappointed that you found our cottage 'ok' as we strive to maintain very high standards at all times.
This cute little cottage was perfect for my 9 day stay while visiting my family in the Potteries. Equipped with everything you need! Comfortable bed, quality linens, full size bath sheets (not postage stamp sized towels!) and lovely bistro set outside to sit and admire the stunning view of the Congleton Viaduct and The Cloud. Property owner Brenda was a perfect host. After a long journey from Canada, I arrived to a welcome card, fresh flowers and milk in the fridge with a check in to make sure that everything was ok and was on hand if I needed anything at all. Highly recommended and look forward to my next stay.
Clean and comfortable cottage with huge comfy bed and lovely bathroom. Views over fields to Bosley Cloud . No log fire made although this is stated in description and we had gone to trouble of taking our own logs but there is an electric one which was needed as it was a very cold weekend. Harrington Arms, pub give it a miss awful food. Lovely walks along canal in the winter sunshine.

Thank you for your comments. We're sorry to hear that you were expecting a log fire. We only provide this if asked by our guests - as many people prefer not to have it . We also prefer to use our own 'dried' logs on the fire as we know their origin and moisture levels. If you'd let us know either prior to your visit or when you arrived - we would have been more than happy to organise a log / coal fire inn the cottage for you. We hope it didn't spoil your break in our lovely area. kind regards

Me and My Partner wanted to spend the New Year (Last Minute) somewhere quieter than usual fancying lots of near by scenic walks and things todo. This is exactly what we got, the cottage was immaculate and situated not too far from the town to pop to shops, pubs and amenities but also short walking distance into various landscapes. Considering the location is on the farm you could hear a pin drop. Bed was incredibly comfy and plenty big enough. Really enjoyed the stay and looking to rebook later in the year , Many Thanks to Brenda and her Family

Thank you for your lovely review of our Farmhouse Cottage. We do our utmost to ensure that the cottage is spotlessly clean and of a high standard. It is super to see that this has been recognised,
We loved it and very much appreciated the kindness of our hosts who went out of their way to make things work. Lovely location with a great view, cosy, the comfiest of beds and nicely kitted out. I hope we can stay again.
The cottage was spotless (reassuring in these times) & very high quality finish, with everything you could need. The family were friendly & helpful. Thank you very much for the use of the barn to store our cycles. Would recommend & stay again if visiting the area.
I cannot find a single fault with this property, the location and price were excellent, the facilities were all you could need and the host was brilliant! Could not recommend this cottage enough!
This is a lovely little cottage with lots of character and a beautiful view of the Cloud. Everything was provided for a comfortable stay. The property is well placed for walks in the nearby countryside but is also only a short distance from Manchester.

Many thanks for your five star review of our Farmhouse Cottage. We're so pleased that you found the cottage to be characterful, comfortable and with everything you needed to enjoy your stay. We hope to be able to welcome you here again! kind regards, Brenda & Tom
It's a cute and comfortable cottage with lots of facilities provided. I was working remotely, and the wifi was fine. As advised in a previous review, I asked for fuel beforehand, and it was provided for us. We were greeted at the apartment on a rainy day, with a lit fire - so lovely! There are nice pubs and museums in nearby Congleton and Leek. Also lovely walks a short drive away, but there's nowhere to walk to from the cottage as a main road runs outside with no pavement so caution needed! I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Brenda!
