About this property

Spacious Apartment near Penzance Seafront

Summary:
This lower ground apartment is located on a beautiful Victorian terrace on the leafy outskirts of Penzance. The town centre is a 10-minute walk away, whilst the seafront promenade or lido is walkable in under five-minutes! The apartment is clean and comfortable, with space for four people to spread out and enjoy a holiday in Penzance.

The Space:
Quiet and comfortable, the living room features an exposed brick fireplace, large sofa, colourful furnishings, a dining table and smart TV. Next door, the kitchen is fully stocked with numerous mod cons; find a dishwasher, hob, oven, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster.

The master bedroom is spacious: find a cast iron bed, pretty antique furniture, a desk and artwork that hangs on the walls. There is a further second bedroom with single bed and pull out trundle bed. A modern bathroom with a shower has been recently renovated. Its convenient location to the seafront, the South West Coastal Path and Penzance town centre make this a great bolthole for a coastal getaway! Free parking is available on the street outside the flat, as well as on surrounding streets.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome with a fee of £20/dog (max 2). It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedroom/s.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire apartment through a private entrance.

The Neighborhood:
The apartment is located in a converted townhouse in a leafy Victorian terrace. It is a quiet neighbourhood, but still centrally located so benefits from having shops, restaurants and attractions close by.

For lovely independent shops head to the historical Chapel Street. No 56 homewares, The Planted Shop and The Artist Residence's Clubhouse are all well worth a visit. Clubhouse is a superb restaurant serving up delicious cocktails and meals using locally sourced produce. The roof terrace is also a rather special spot on a warm sunny day! Other good eateries include Mermaid Alley, The Shore Restaurant and Bakehouse.

The Penzance Lido is well-known in Cornwall and great to visit a warm day. Head there for a brisk dip in the outside pool or to just sit and admire the beautiful views! For day trips, make a quick journey down the road to Mousehole - an idyllic village with great restaurants, cafes and harbour. You can pick up the South West Walking Path and head in any direction - we'd certainly recommend walking to Newlyn for lunch at Mackerel Sky seafood bar.

Beach lovers should head to Long Rock beach for day's splashing in the waves or building sandcastles. Marazion Beach has stunning views out over St Michael's Mount, and you can even take a walk over when the tide is on your side! A little further along the coast is Praa Sands, which is well-known for surfing and has a splendid beach bar for an evening tipple or two.

Getting Around:
Penzance benefits from very good travel connections with trains operated by Great Western Railway running right into the centre of town. There are also lots of buses running to other areas and attractions in Cornwall. So if you do not have a vehicle, it is easy to still enjoy your time here. For those that do have a car there is free parking on the street outside the flat.

Interaction with Guests:
We will be available via message, email and phone during your stay. Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Lovely stay in Penzance
Great location and provided exactly what I needed. The bedding was a little over fragranced for me but that's not really an issue. The bathroom sink is very small, but it's enough for washing hands and brushing teeth. All in all, a very nice base for seeing West Cornwall

10 day stay
Loved it! Had everything we needed. Great location. We stayed with our 6 year old twin boys and our 2 staffies. Park, beach, promenade, pubs, supermarket, high st, train station, tennis courts the list goes on, all in walking distance. Great communication. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Could be more comfortable
Good points: Great location and parking, comfortable bed. Room for improvement: Inadequate bath towels - the towels provided measured little more than 2 feet by 3 feet. I am a small adult and they only just went round me. Full-sized bath sheet towels should have been provided together with a hand towel each. Lighting - not good enough to read comfortably in either the living room or the bedroom. Ventilation - poor. Bathroom - the smallest washbasin ever - it was difficult to clean your teeth without bumping your head on the wall. - annoying toilet that took several goes to flush properly. - no spare loo rolls and the one that was there was of a very poor quality. Bedroom - the wardrobe and dressing table were not 'antique', but from the 1950s/60s. The dressing table had a big chip in it, the veneer was lifting and the drawers were very difficult to open and close. - the bedside tables were too low to be used comfortably with the bed - about 12 inches high and the same in diameter ie no room for a book as well as a lamp and a glass of water. This also meant the lamp was ineffectual, as its meagre light was not at the right height to be useful for reading. The wire for the lamp was at full stretch to the socket outlet. As the on-off switch was halfway along the wire, you couldn't reach it from the bed. Kitchen - 3 dinner plates were provided, of which 2 matched and 1 of those was chipped. A tea towel was provided, but not a hand towel. Living area - we didn't like to use the occasional tables as the legs were wobbly. Suggestions It would be useful to have a notebook in the flat giving details of where the switches for hot water etc are and where to put the rubbish out. Visitors could add their recommendations for good pubs / restaurants. To start you off, we can recommend 'The Navy' at the bottom of Queen Street - good value food and friendly service. Some leaflets about what to do in Penzance, a street map of the town and an OS map would help. The owners should try living in the flat themselves for a week.

Penzance
Great location for the sea and town centre. Good for a long weekend stay away with better than basic facilities. Shower room on the small side but functional. Although a basement, the flat is light and airy.
