This pleasant and cozy villa melts into the scenery of the Unesco protected Roman bridge “Pont du Gard” and its surroundings of “garrigue” landscape - typical Southern French vegetation made of bushes, small oaks, and odorant plants such as thyme and lavenders. Our villa and the neighboring villas form an architectural ensemble, which was classified "Patrimoine du XXième" by the Direction régionale des affaires culturelles", the administration in charge of the French architectural heritage on 18 December 2015. This architectural work was signed by Joseph Massota (a disciple of Le Corbusier) who also designed, among many constructions in the region, the church of Notre-Dame-du-Suffrage-et-Saint-Dominique in Nîmes.
The villa's pleasant atmosphere is created by its unique architecture of many curves in the sleeping quarters and a large living room (about 50 sq meters) as well as a large terrace (about 50 sq meters) overlooking the Pont du Gard. It is modern and ancient in the same time.
On the property, you can enjoy a peaceful time on the sunny terrace, with is magnificent view on the Pont du Gard. It you feel like cooling down, you can just walk down a picturesque path to plunge in the pool in the middle of the garrigue (4x15m). The pool is shared with another villa. We ask our guests with pets not to bring them at the pool area for the tranquility of other users.
The property is not suitable for young children and persons with disabilities. The villa is located on the beginning of a hill slope and its small terraces and uneven steps make it difficult to access.
The property is located near the medieval village of Castillon-du-Gard to which you can walk and buy your daily fresh baguette for your breakfast or enjoy an exclusive meal at the gastronomic restaurant of the four-star Hotel 'Le Vieux Castillon'. You also have convenience stores in the village.
This villa is also pleasant in the off-season period when the pool is not in function anymore (it is in function in the months of June, July, August and September). The pool being situated at the edge of the property, it is not visible from the terrace. The house has a central heating. In most of the off season, even over the end of year holiday season, the Mediterranean climate make it possible to enjoy the sunny terrace.

Gut eingerichtetes Ferienhaus in ruhiger Lage. TV hat nur französische Sender, was geändert werden könnte. Die Anfahrtsbeschreibung sollte exakter gefasst werden, das Haus liegt etwas versteckt.

The ideal location for a family holiday!!
The location of the property is superb: very near Uzès, where you shouldn't miss Saturday's morning best Provence market, Avignon with the famous Palais des Papes as well as Nîmes with Arènes, the ancient Roman Amphitheater.
Castillon-du-Gard, where the property is located, is a wonderful and quiet medieval village. From the immense terrace you have stunning views of the famous Roman aqueduct Pont du Gard. The house has enough space to comfortably host up to six people. A large swimming-pool let's your forget the sea and an abundant vegetation around the house invites you to play "Hide and seek" with your children. On a sunny day you either rent some bicycles to explore the small villages near the Castillon-du-Gard, you rent a canoe to glide down the Gardon river or you visit the Haribo museum to buy some gifts for your loved ones.
We very much enjoyed our stay, totally disconnected from the working environment - don't worry there is a strong wifi in the house - and fully recharged our batteries. Our children had so much fun, that we decided to come back with some friends of them.

About the host

I am born in the region and spent my childhood in Uzès but I have been living abroad for many years. This property allows me to reconnect with my roots.
Why they chose this property
This property has a magnificent view on the Pont du Gard and is located in the middle of the garrigue. It is very quiet. It smells aromatic herbs and you can hear cicadas' concerts. I appreciate the proximity of Uzès and Avignon, which offer a lot of activities.
What makes this property unique
The villa has a pleasant and confortable atmosphere. The sleeping areas are cosy, have curvy walls and are separated from the living areas which are large and open to the exterior ... to the Pont du Gard. This fusion of modern and antiquity is touching. The villa was designed by the architect Joseph Massota who is the author of several artwork in the region.
