Very nice overall, no issues. Keyless entry to the front door was very useful (as multiple people leaving and entering at different times).

By the city walls
The house was ideally situated in a quiet road outside the city walls, a few minutes from York Minster and the city centre. The house was bright and had everything we needed for our stay in York

A lovely house
This is a lovely house that sleeps 6 adults in 3 lovely bedrooms and comfortable beds. However there is only one bathroom and one downstairs toilet which is not ideal. The house is well furnished and well presented. The location is excellent and the entry key pad is very useful.

A few days in York
Location very good, parking no problem, all very clean and well equipped. One downside is minimal working space in the kitchen. Small private seating area outside at rear of property, with access from kitchen.
Just the one bathroom may be a problem for
some if full occupancy of six.

Long weekend
A lovely house that now needs a little TLC, although we would stay again. Beds extremely comfortable.
Beautiful old house full of character but just needs a little update. Overall we loved our stay here

Thank you for the review. So glad to hear you enjoyed the house and your stay in York. We're always keen to ensure everything is a high standard and any updates are constantly being kept on top of. We hope to see you back at some point soon.
We had a wonderful stay - great house and the location was perfect for getting around Yorkshire and York. We were out and about touring the area everyday and appreciated that street parking was always available. We were contacted several times during our stay to make sure all was in order which we really appreciated! Thank you - we would definitely rent this property again.

Review for 9 St John’s Street
Good house for lots of people and fantastic location! Great outdoor space.
Oven instructions not working on QR code although was emailed to me.
Some basic things missing eg spare rubbish bags, extra loo roll, tin opener not work, hot tap dripping in bathroom (needs a washer).
Myself, my husband and 3 children had a 4 night stay at the property. It was clean and well equipped. The small outside courtyard was a real bonus and we used it to enjoy breakfast every morning!
Fabulous location to access all of Yorks attractions and there was no need to move the car once as we could walk everywhere which was great!
Would highly recommend and would happily stay there for future visits.
This stay was beyond disappointing. Stays York who manages the property did not send me the check in information to access the property the first day, the property is FILTHY. They sent in a cleaner who made the property somewhat cleaner. We were going to put excess luggage in a large empty wood box, but when we opened the box we found someone had used it as a tobacco spitoon. The chewing tobacco container is probably still there on the garden table. The bathroom was a whole different horror. Additionally, the house was so cold and the dryer did not tumble. I emailed Stays York several times before our stay to try to sort a few things before our stay. I never received any response. I am beyond disappointed.

Very Disappointing
Needs a good deep clean and bathroom updating.Kitchen and bathroom sinks dirty, the bathroom one,the plug was full of hair and water draining away slowly also one of the toilets hadn't been flushed.Patio furniture is different to that shown online,it's way too big for the decking so that 5 people can't sit around it and the decking is really dirty. There is only the tiniest bit of work bench space in the kitchen so nowhere to prepare food. The kettle is positioned on draining board which gets very wet when washing dishes, surely a health and safety issue. No oven gloves provided and tea towel was thick with grease and smelled rancid.Lots of crumbs under sofa seat cushions.Grouting in shower dirty and no shelf or cabinet in bathroom so nowhere to put any toiletries.Lack of sockets, 2 lamps in 2nd bedroom but only a single socket to plug one in and not by bedside.Dining room blind only covers half of the window and landing blind fell down when trying to open it,there is also damp patches on landing wall.Positives are, the house is in a good location and the bed linen is good quality. I wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't recommend it..We've stayed in a lot of properties in York far cheaper and nicer.

Hello, thank you for your review.
Firstly, I’d like to apologise about the issues you experienced during your stay at the property. As you can see from the previous reviews, this is not the usual standard for this property, and we will make sure to follow this up with the cleaning company. Had you reported this while staying with us, we would have been able to send the cleaners back straight away to rectify these issues. The blind has now been repaired and we have arranged for more outlets to be added in the bedrooms.
The decking furniture has recently been upgraded, hence why the size is different from the one shown online.
We apologise again if this property did not meet your requirements. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you would like to speak to a member of the team.

Lovely house in a great location.
The house was perfect for a long weekend in York. Once we arrived we parked immediately outside and didn't need to get back in the car until it was time to leave. Everything was very clean and the house was well equipped, instructions were clear and the location was brilliant for the city centre and all that York has to offer. The welcome pack was lovely and we would definitely stay here again.

Proximity and permit parking
Lovely comfortable place to stay, within a short walking distance of the amenities of the centre of York. We stayed in early September with the area being quiet at that time.
Stays York team were excellent and prompt in dealing with my queries; operating the gas oven and the downside (in my opinion) that the televisions are not aerial connected thus set up for streaming services only.

Spacious and lovely house, needs cleaning
The houses was beautifully decorated and well located. We had everything needed to cook and stay comfortably. The size is wonderful. It was not, however, particularly clean. There were cobwebs everywhere, dead spiders in drawers in the kitchen, the carpets and floors were quite dirty. I went to clean it myself and found the vacuum hadn’t been emptied-maybe ever and the container was filled to the brim. It’s a great house and with a more thorough cleaning we would have loved to stay longer.
