Great communications with host, very accommodating to our needs. Rooms were very comfortable - lots of space for our family of four adults. Easy walking access or taxis to what we wanted to do while in Lisbon. Nice restaurants a few blocks away. As our host said, it’s a very international neighborhood - felt safe to me although one family member felt uncomfortable. Overall excellent experience.

We are really glad to hear you found the communication helpful and that the apartment worked well for your group, especially in terms of comfort and space.
It is also great to hear you enjoyed how central everything is, with so much within easy walking distance.
Mouraria is indeed a very international and vibrant neighbourhood, and we understand that it can feel different depending on individual preferences. We’re glad you felt safe overall and were able to enjoy the experience.
It was a pleasure hosting you, and we would love to welcome you back anytime!
Warm regards,

We lived this space, as a family of 7 with teens we all fit and they have managed to put 3 bathrooms in the apt!The street was lively with people (no bars) until late but the noise didn’t bother even the light sleepers and it felt safe.Steps away fro metro including the popular tram line

Wer ae also glad you enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the neighbourhood while still feeling comfortable and able to rest well, as well as the convenience of being so close to the metro and tram.

Super centrally located but in a bit of a sketchy alley. NOT in Alfama, but yes, close to it. The floorboards creak so so so loudly!

Thank you for your feedback Naomi. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
We are glad you enjoyed the central location and how easy it is to reach many of Lisbon’s main sights from the apartment.
You are absolutely right that we are just outside Alfama, in Mouraria, which is a very central and historic neighbourhood with its own unique character. It can feel a bit more raw and lively compared to more polished areas, which some guests enjoy and others may find less comfortable.
Regarding the floorboards, the building is traditional and full of original features, which can include some creaking. We understand this may be noticeable for some guests and appreciate you pointing it out.
Thank you again for your stay, and we would be happy to welcome you back anytime.
Warm regards,
StayInLisbon Team
The host was exceptional. He recommended and even booked several wonderful activties for my family. Hec was so responsive to questions. The apartment, particularly the bathrooms are small. Showering was a bit of challenge because the actual shower was so tiny. We had 8 people which felt like a couple too many for this apartment. It is located within walking distance to many sites. However, the precise location is an an area that did not feel safe. The street has charm but there seems to be a problem with homelessness very close by and large groups of people congregated right outside the front door of the apartment at all hours. Nothing happened but we traveled in groups especially at night.

Thank you for your thoughtful and balanced review Sam. We really appreciate it.
We are especially happy to hear you enjoyed the communication and that we could help organise activities for your family. Creating a smooth and memorable stay is always our goal.
Regarding the apartment, you are absolutely right that the bathrooms are compact. This is typical of historic Lisbon buildings, where space is often optimised, and we aim to reflect this as clearly as possible in both the photos and our walkthrough video.
In terms of capacity, the apartment can accommodate larger groups, though we understand that with 8 adults it can feel more comfortable for some guests than others depending on preferences and space expectations.
As for the neighbourhood, Mouraria is one of Lisbon’s most central and historic areas, with a very authentic and lived-in character. Like many city-centre neighbourhoods, it can feel lively and mixed at times, which some guests enjoy for its energy and convenience, while others may feel more comfortable in quieter areas.
We are glad to hear you still enjoyed the location and your overall stay, and we would be very happy to welcome you again in the future.
Warm regards,
StayInLisbon Team
Truly is steps from everything including metro, market, coffee, restaurants, historical sites. Getting to and from the airport was a breeze. Apartment was charming, clean, well-equipped, and super comfortable for six adults (4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms). It felt lively with the windows open to the street, and secure and quiet with the windows and shutters closed. A/C was great, the terrace was lovely. We lacked nothing for our stay. Would 10/10 stay again!

Dear Sue, Thank you for your feedback and for highlighting the proximity to so many attractions. We are sorry the neighborhood did not fully meet your expectations. Lisbon's vibrant and historic areas can sometimes have a mix of atmospheres that might not appeal to everyone, though many of our guests appreciate the central location and unique character. We are glad you still enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome your extended family back in the future! 😊 Warm regards, your StayInLisbon team
We were met at the property and shown everything about the flat. That was nice. The unit is as the pictures show, but it is small- we were not in it much anyhow, so it was fine. The street that it was on was a bit sketchy especially in the evening. We travelled in groups at all times. They provided wine, lots of TP, dishsoap, laundry soap. They were very easy to contact. The one drawback was the AC quit in 2 bedrooms, halfway through and it was hot in the rooms. The location was an easy 10 min walk to Rossio sq- perfect. Overall, it was good
Of the 3 hosts on our recent trip to Portugal, Christina was by far the best communicator. She recommended 2 tour guides to transport us between Porto and Lisbon and Lisbon and the Algarve and both were excellent and recommended places to visit. Her place is filled with beautiful art and fun artifacts. The location on the second floor requires you to take your luggage up stairs. Some people may not be comfortable with the homeless folks around but it is in a great central location. We would go back.

Thank you for your kind review and for highlighting your experience with the artful touches and our recommendations! 😊 We are glad you enjoyed the central location and everything the neighborhood has to offer. Lisbon is a vibrant city with so much charm, though, like many urban centers, it does have some visible signs of homelessness. This is a broader city issue, and while it can surprise some visitors, we find the community here to be warm and welcoming. We would love to host you again anytime! 🏡✨ Warm regards, Christina and the StayInLisbon team

This sound very pessimistic but I just want o make sure people know what they’re getting. The pictures they post are real but they use some serious camera tricks to make it look bigger. First let me start with the street. This is the roughest street in the old section of Lisbon. When I say I saw at least 5 people smoking crack and two people doing heroin in the street that not an exaggeration. That’s the exterior. The apartment is very clean and actually nice but the bathroom are small closets turned into even smaller bathrooms. I can assure you when you sit on the toilet the sink is in your chest. All three baths are the same. There’s no room in the shower for a 6 foot guy. I mean none. The people who run this are nice and I feel bad to write this but had I known I wouldn’t have stayed. The street it’s on is very rough. Very rough.

Thank you for your detailed feedback George. We genuinely appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
We are very glad to hear you found the apartment clean and the team helpful, as these are areas we consistently focus on.
Regarding the photos, we would like to clarify that we do not use wide-angle or distortion techniques, so guests can see the exact layout and proportions of every room before booking.
As for the bathrooms, they are indeed compact, which is typical in historic Lisbon buildings where space is limited. We aim to show this as clearly as possible in the photos so guests can make an informed decision.
In terms of the street, we are located in a very central and authentic part of Lisbon. Like many city-centre areas across Europe, it can feel lively and mixed, which some guests enjoy for its character and convenience, while others may find it less comfortable. We always encourage guests to review the location details carefully to ensure it suits their preferences.
We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations, but we appreciate your comments and will continue working to ensure our listing is as clear and transparent as possible.
Terrible experience, we booked for 10 days, had to leave the following day after finding a hotel to relocate. The description of the place completely inaccurate, expensive for what it is, the neighborhood unsafe, loud, and the road entrance to the apartment was in construction. The bedrooms had no closet, no storage, our bedroom had a shower! This place could be suited for college students ready to party but not more..The least the owners could do is provide 50% of refund, but they did not.

We’re sorry to hear that our home did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide a five-star experience, as reflected in the reviews from other guests. Our listing is carefully detailed, including descriptions of the neighborhood, layout, and amenities, and features a four-minute video showcasing every room. The ensuite showers in the two double bedrooms are also clearly mentioned. Our home preserves its historic charm rather than being remodeled into a modern hotel, and many of our guests appreciate this authentic character.
We understand that preferences vary, and we encourage all guests to review the listing carefully before booking. Unfortunately, construction in the area is something beyond our control, and we were not made aware of it in advance. We regret any inconvenience it may have caused during your stay.
Regarding the refund, we offered to reimburse any nights that were successfully rebooked, in line with our policy, which goes beyond VRBO’s standard terms. Since we were not promptly informed of your decision to vacate, we were unable to relist the home sooner. We also made multiple attempts to assist you, including offering solutions for additional storage, but unfortunately, we did not receive much communication in return.
While we understand that a hotel may have been a better fit for your needs, we take pride in offering a unique home experience. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to ensure our listing remains as clear and detailed as possible.
Thank you so much for your kind words Sylvie!
We are delighted to hear you enjoyed the location, the welcome, and the comfort of the apartment. These are exactly the things we aim to get right for every stay.
It was a pleasure hosting you, and you are always welcome back anytime in Lisbon.
Warm regards,
