About this property
Hope Cottage, East Rudham, Norfolk
A gorgeous cottage tucked away on a peaceful lane in the village of East Rudham, Hope Cottage has been thoughtfully styled to create a comfortable, cosy rural retreat for couples or a small family. Just fifteen minutes inland from North Norfolk's glorious coastline, and with a popular gastro pub, cafe and village deli selling delicious goodies all on the doorstep, this place really is a hidden gem.
Hope Cottage is a chic, character cottage displaying a wealth of period features and presents a fusion of contemporary alongside traditional, conjuring an atmosphere of cosiness and elegance that works well in tandem. As you arrive in the cottage from the side entrance, you are welcomed into a wide hallway with doors leading off right and left to the sitting room and a shower room respectively. To the far end of the hall, an opening leads into the kitchen and adjacent dining room. The sitting room, a very pleasant and characterful relaxing room, enjoys the extra warmth and ambience of a double-sided wood burning stove shared with the dining room on the other side of the chimney breast. The shaker style galley kitchen is well-equipped and a very user-friendly space. A step down leads to the adjoining dining room, featuring an exposed flint wall that lends an ambient air. Both the sitting and dining room have the benefit of glazed doors into the conservatory, enabling the living spaces to flow from one to the other and creating a sociable environment and ease of movement. The conservatory runs the length of the cottage and is a very pleasant option after a lazy lunch when you want to chill and enjoy the view across the south facing cottage garden.
From the dining room, a steep Norfolk stairway with a handrail takes you up to the first floor, where three inviting, restful bedrooms (king-size, double and twin) are arranged around the landing, all having use of a smart family bathroom with both shower and bath facilities. Outside, the cottage enjoys a private south facing garden, mostly laid to lawn with a designated dining area on the patio. Active members of the party will enjoy the games room found within the garage and can while away an afternoon testing their competitive skills at table tennis, darts, and table football.
East Rudham is an especially attractive village predominantly made up of period properties centred around a large village green, and offers a convenient base for getting out and about and exploring both inland and coastal North Norfolk. Given the proximity to the coast, and other local attractions (see details below), Hope Cottage is a fabulous bolt hole to escape to for either a taster stay or a longer break when time allows. We are sure you will love it!
Hope Cottage is also available to book as a Sleeps 4 option: Hope Cottage (East Rudham) (4).
Additional Information: Two well behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge). Pillows and duvets are hypoallergenic. Please bring your own original size pods for the Nespresso coffee machine. Cons - No milk on arrival. The door handles were tight to the door meaning hitting your knuckles to open the door. The toilet seat on downstairs toilet was broken. The steepness of the stairs wasn’t clear from the itinerary. The check out time was different in the booking information (9am) to the booklet in the property (10am) causing us confusion with the cleaners. We had the blinds down as it’s quite over looked by passers by. Hot water got very hot which was dangerous for the children. Probs - The property was lovely, the shower was lovely, layout was perfect and we had all the facilities we needed. We fed the birds and saw an array of different garden birds. Games room was great too. Log burner was good. Heat efficiency of property was also good.
