Midsummer Mill, formerly known as Midsummer Wood, an enchanting and romantic former mill house, whose site dates back to the 14th Century, is found at the end of a single track lane set on the River Windrush in a sleepy, sunny hollow that teems with wildlife and is silence except for this; a bucolic bolthole that transports one back to a simpler time. But Bourton-on-the-Water is an almost all footpath/bridleway walk so plenty of amenities are almost on the doorstep without you having to touch your car; in fact Midsummer Mill is connected via paths and byways to many of the prettiest Cotswold villages, including the famous Slaughters.
