Relaxing efficiency apartment in Bar Harbor on 2 acre of woods
Maine and Acadia National Park welcomes you!
Enjoy our quiet secluded location just a short drive from the town of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. A one bedroom, one bathroom efficiency apartment with its own private entrance. Our street is very quiet and off the Peggy Rockafeller farm and surrounded by mature oak and maple trees making for a very relaxing location. Deer and wild turkeys frequent our yard daily and a welcome addition to morning coffee on the patio, or in the hammock in the backyard! We welcome families and children! We are 6 miles from Bar Harbor’s shopping, restaurants and main attractions and an equal distance to the beautiful Somesville, Maine and western side of Acadia National Park. Easy, quick access to Eagle Lake Carriage Roads (4 miles) and Park Loop Road (5 miles) makes for easy access to the rest of Acadia National Park. We are a great resource for suggestions and planning your vacation in Bar Harbor and Acadia and look forward to you experiencing the best of our beautiful island!
Owners live on property with their family and two dogs. We share the mud room wall and give you the utmost privacy. Please note the bathroom has a beautiful bear claw tub to soak in and a shower attachment that can be tight for taller people. 6 foot men have had no problem but if a guest has mobility issues we want to be clear about this ahead of time (photos are included). The unit is upstairs so if you have coolers or any issues with carring luggage up a flight if stairs that would be a draw back. *Please note if you have previously stayed with us or see all the reviews about dogs, we are temporarily not dog friendly since we got a yorki puppy!

This is by far the greatest place I’ve found on VRBO. The pictures matched the apartment perfectly. There was a binder provided with food suggestions and hiking suggestions and it was spot on! There isn’t a thing we would change.
Cute little place close to Bar Harbor without the hustle bustle of downtown
Cute little place close to the National Park and Bar Harbor. Exactly as advertised. Loved the hammock in the backyard to sit and unwind after a day of hiking. Jennifer was very hospitable. We got a lot of great restaurant and hike ideas from the host. Note Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty at times.
This relaxing efficiency was exactly what we needed in Bar Harbor. We were minutes away from Acadia National Park and never had to deal with the crowds in Bar Harbor. The owners were very helpful in providing suggested hikes and carriage roads to explore as well as local restaurants. The space seemed larger than in the pictures, clean and comfortable. Loved our stay and would book again.
Great spot about 10 minutes away from the busy Bar Harbor area. Perfect for a couple! Quiet neighborhood. Hosts were very accommodating. We would stay here again!
It was charming Quiet and clean, Jennifer was very nice and had a lot of info for the area, hikes, places to eat.
They contacted us by email before arriving with easy to follow instructions, I would recommend for any couples
Jennifer and Jeremy were wonderful and welcoming hosts. Jeremy provided a map with suggested hikes in Acadia to do and Jen told me about best places to eat outside Bar Harbor. The place was clean and cozy and just what I needed for a relaxing vacation.
What a fantastic place to stay!! With how busy it gets in Bar Harbor it was amazing to be able to get out of the hustle and bustle. Great location for Acadia as well. Jen’s suggestions for trails and restaurants were spot on. We felt completely at home with everything we needed plus a back yard for our dog to run a bit. We would definitely stay here again!!
The place was very quiet and away from the busy Bar Harbor area. The location was awesome to the park and Southwest Harbor. The owners were very nice and had a lot of good recommendations for places to eat and great places to hike and bike.
The studio was great in the sense that it was away from all the touristy aspects of Bar Harbor and yet so close to Acadia, a quiet getaway in the woods! It was generally clean (there was some dog hair in the rugs and the linens in the bathroom were a bit tired). The kitchen cooking equipment was just as stated so no surprise there. The bed was super comfy with nice linens. I would definitely worry about the bathroom if I were an older person (I wouldn’t have my 80+ mom to stay here). You have to climb in the tub over the edge and the curtain and shower head present a bit of a challenge. And most days the water was luke warm. Overall I’d stay again solely based on its location. The hosts were very nice!
Charming place in the Maine Woods convenient to Bar Harbor
We were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations! The room was actually quite large, well equipped and attractively decorated. A private deck adjoined the entrance with a view of a grassy lawn and woods beyond. Contrary to another post, we were able to manage the stair with our luggage despite being in our late 70s+.
A beautiful over the garage apartment that was clean, new, and efficient with conveniences of WIFI and light cooking in a wooded neighborhood within driving a short driving distance of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We enjoyed the hiking and the delicious food from local restaurants and the quiet out in the country neighborhood. (We heard the first Whip-o-will since my childhood!) Their loveable golden retriever, Lucky, welcomed us home every evening. A truly delightful experience, and our thanks to Jennifer and Jeremy for their hospitality.
Nice location and a very pleasant host.
The stairs would be too much for anyone in their late 70's.
Great place for a dog as there was woods out back to walk them.
One recommendation would be to have a mat that would stick down in the bathtub.
Nice central place to get to the hikes in Acadia.
We were blessed with nice weather also.
The property was as described. Lots of space and everything we needed. Close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. We had an enjoyable stay. Nice area for a walk to the Stone Barn Preserve trails too.
Great location on the island. It was about a 10 to 20 minute drive wherever we wanted to go to. Beautiful hikes and lakes close by. Gave us a lot of good food and hike recommendations.
Jennifer’s place was a wonderful home base for us when we visited! It was very clean and charming. We brought our 2 dogs and they settled in quickly and had a great time! Jennifer is also super responsive and helpful. Definitely stay here if you can when visiting Acadia!
Somewhat centrally located on east side of island makes getting to and from all points easy.
The room is cozy and nice. My wife and I are very tall so the shower was a challenge. We noticed that there was no stove for cooking the night before we were to check in, we packed up a bunch of left overs and just nuked them. Really this was a blessing as less hassle and cleaning. Overall I would stay again.
We had a wonderful time at Jen and Jeremy’s property. The space was very comfortable and clean and they gave us great recommendations for Bar Harbor and Acadia.
This is the perfect location if you're spending time in Acadia. The place is quiet, comfortable and convenient. And fully stocked with everything you need if you're spending a few days or more in Bar Harbor. I would stay here again and definitely recommend it!
Staying at Jennifer's VRBO was a great experience from beginning to end. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Wonderful suggestions for the area and a friendly smile every time we met.
Wonderful hosts! Hosts were helpful and welcoming.

About the host
Hosted by Jennifer
Owners live on property with their two children and yellow lab puppy. We live and work in Bar Harbor year round now after moving from Phoenix, Arizona in 2017. We're still adjusting to the winters but found the other three seasons to be nothing short of magical here!
Why they chose this property
After moving from the desert to Bar Harbor, we wanted to live in a place that was quiet and "felt like Maine." We found this home on the middle of the island, close to everything and yet still felt like a home in the country.
What makes this property unique
Our home is so convenient to all parts of the island, and not just Bar Harbor. Getting to anything on the island is easy and accessible. Our home is unique in that we live in a very quiet area where it's just as common to see wild turkey flocks come by as a neighbor drive by. Waking up to the sounds of the forest every morning, or the sun setting right outside the apartment window is really special. We have a small trail throughout our property for a relaxing stroll through the woods. And small children who love to welcome new guests to our home. We hike, run, bike and have really experienced much of what MDI has to offer and love giving suggestions for all sorts of activities, dining and experiences here. We provide a detailed list prior to arrival and always available for suggestions, backup plans or any planning help. We're here to help make your MDI and Acadia experience really special and memorable.
