We had a delightful time on the shores of 2nd Sands Beach! The home was very clean and comfortable. The larger front deck was a perfect place to have a cup of coffee and relax. Everything was just perfect! Thanks so much for sharing this home.

Wonderful Stay on Sand Bay

We had a fantastic time at Sand Bay! The house was perfect for our family of 4 with room to spare. The view is what drew me to this house and it was exactly as pictured. We enjoyed the sandy beach, kayaks, paddleboard, beach volleyball, and more! This was our first trip to the UP and this property made our stay better than expected!

This was our first time visiting the UP - the size of house was perfect for our family of 5. The location and view are excellent. We LOVED the paddle board, kayaks, the enclosed porch loaded with games/items for the beach, and the sunrise. The sunrise on the lake was EPIC every morning and was one of my favorite parts of the trip. If you need total darkness to sleep, you may want to bring a sleep mask to block the light that pours into the house early in the morning. There is also no washer/dryer so you have to take your laundry to a downtown L’Anse laundromat. There are plenty of restaurants/pubs within walking distance to help pass the time while you run a few loads.Thank you for a wonderful week - we hope to come back soon!

Needs a cheese grater

This was a quick trip to surprise many sister. About 20 people were involved in the surprise, and we pulled it off. It was a complete surprise. I had to leave one day early because of the winter storm over Colorado and we made it just in time for 20 inches to fall overnight The property is in a good spot and I know the area pretty well , I was at the Aura Jamboree last summer

Cozy beach getaway

Cozy cottage on a gorgeous sandy beach. Plenty of space to cook, eat, lounge on the deck or play cards around the kitchen table, all while enjoying the views. Easy drive to L’Anse and a grocery store and gas stations (due to Covid we didn’t try out any of the local bars or restaurants but there are several in town as well). Great place to relax and close to some great UP outdoor recreation. On my list of places to return to.

Perfect Stay

We got away for a long weekend (Saturday-Monday) and this cabin had everything we wanted. Literal steps to the lake, lots of natural light throughout, and fairly quiet during our stay. Our dog loved playing in the water and running around the beach. Ron and Debbie were very responsive to all of our questions, and check-in was a breeze. We'll definitely make the trip back up here soon!

A unique and lovely beach house!

This beach house is gorgeous! You cannot beat the views from just about anywhere in the home. Everything was as described with some improvements; it's even nicer than the pictures show. The owners are still fine tuning details such as adding a sink in the half bath upstairs, which was not yet connected during our stay.

Beautiful, quiet property on a nice sandy beach.

The property was exactly as they describe it. Our family spent a week here in August 2018. We kayaked, swam, explored and relaxed. It was perfect! It is located just a short drive to town with a grocery store and a few places to eat. The views are breathtaking. We have a 10 and 13 year old and they had more than enough to keep them busy all week. So happy we chose this place and would definitely go again if heading to that area!

6/10 Okay

Nice, but not as expected

Overall, my husband and I had a nice time at this residence. We went here on our honeymoon, and being on the beach, with no Wi-Fi or reception was nice and seclusive. However, it was not nearly as private as it seemed it would be. There is a cabin directly next to this cottage, and on two of three days we stayed there, they started mild construction on the other side of the cottage. Someone drove a bulldozer across the beach of the residence, right in front of us. This perhaps, may not have been as problematic if there were curtains in the cottage, or even doors to the bedroom. No where (but the bathroom) had a modicum of privacy. Further, one day, a random drying rack appeared on the indoor porch, that we did not set up, right next to the room we were sleeping in. Another problem was that there was sand (and someone else's hair) in the one queen sized bed of the residence. We did not feel comfortable sleeping there, and instead slept on the couch (which was comfortable and spacious), but still, not terribly romantic for our honeymoon. This may not have irked us so much, had we not paid a housekeeping fee. Overall, we truly did have fun. It was simply not what we expected, and perhaps I would not recommend this as a "romatic getaway" as advertised, but perhaps more of a family vacation spot, or party local for college students. It was a truly lovely place, just not what we expected.

Response from VrboOwner on 31 March 2020
Raeann, Sorry to hear there was activity next to us. We haven't had anyone there in years and unfortunately they scheduled some work the same time you were there. I'll try and address the other items of concern. As described we're still working on the windows trim which will eventually have blinds, and the barn door for the master bedroom. With no house or anyone staying in that property it's normally very private and secluded. As for the cleanliness with hair and some sand on the bed it must have been an oversight with our cleaner. She is meticulous with her cleaning and we have several sets of sheets and comforter covers and they are laundered and changed after every visit, as they were prior to your arrival. With so much sand just walking in tracks in on everything so not too hard imagine some could find it's way. I'll tell you it drove her nuts reading that review because she takes it personally and she'll be triple checking. Still, I understand your concern and wish you had called me because she would ran over and changed those out for you. Hope other than that you had good weather on your stay and you had a chance to kayak the bay. Thanks for the feedback! Ron and Deb

This is an amazing and reasonable property for its location!

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time at this rental. It's the perfect place for a romantic getaway! We will definitely be trying to stay here on our next trip to the UP. I would recommend this rental to anyone visiting the area!

We live in Mpls but our hearts are in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan!! I grew up here and love to come back any chance I can with my family. We love nothing more than to share our place and the beauty of the area with other people. We also have a lake house in Baraga that you can view.

What makes this property unique

Not many properties can be found in this area on a sandy beach!! When you're here, you forget that you're in the midwest.
