No smoking.. Paddock Cottage is a charming two-bedroom retreat set within a traditional working farm near Whalton, just outside Morpeth. Sleeping four guests plus a baby, this semi-detached stone cottage combines period character with modern comfort. Inside, you’ll find a welcoming sitting room, a separate dining room and a well-equipped kitchen with everything needed for a relaxed self-catering stay, including oven, hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Upstairs offers one double bedroom (with space for a cot in an adjoining small room), a twin bedroom and a family bathroom with bath and shower over. The cottage is fully centrally heated, double glazed and cosy throughout the year. Outside, there is a private garden with seating and barbecue, along with ample parking. Bed linen and towels are provided, and a cot and highchair are available on request. Surrounded by open fields, it’s a peaceful base with a real sense of countryside life.
The location makes it ideal for exploring Northumberland. From the doorstep, you can enjoy gentle rural walks along quiet lanes and public footpaths, taking in wide views across rolling farmland. The nearby village of Whalton offers a welcoming country pub perfect for a relaxed meal after a day out, while Morpeth has a good selection of independent shops, cafés and riverside walks along the River Wansbeck.
A short drive brings you to the historic village of Belsay with its striking hall, castle and gardens, or to Wallington, a National Trust property with beautiful grounds and woodland trails. For beach days, the Northumberland coast is within easy reach, where you’ll find wide sandy stretches at Druridge Bay, Alnmouth and Warkworth, as well as dramatic castles such as Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh.
