Ruby's Cottage - a house that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
First impressions matter, and as you stroll up the garden path to Ruby's Cottage in Threlkeld, with the mighty Blencathra rising behind it, you'll immediately appreciate just how special this Lake District hideaway is.
Named after the owners' beloved dog, Ruby, this welcoming cottage perfectly blends comfort, character and breathtaking fell views.
Step through the front door into a practical hallway complete with coat hooks and a tray for muddy boots - ideal after a day exploring the fells. To the right, the cosy living room invites you to relax on two comfortable sofas beside the warming log burner. Unwind with your favourite shows on the Smart TV with Netflix, or simply enjoy the stunning views towards Clough Head with a good book.
Further along the hallway is the dining room, offering generous seating for leisurely home‑cooked meals. A selection of board games ensures entertainment for all ages. The well‑equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook with ease, including an induction hob, oven with separate grill, microwave, dishwasher and washer‑dryer.
Up on the first floor, you'll find the family bathroom with a large bath - perfect for a long soak after hill walking - plus a separate shower, WC and backlit mirror. This floor also hosts a king‑size bedroom with lovely views of Clough Head and Threlkeld Knotts, as well as an additional double bedroom available for an extra charge.
The second floor reveals a charming loft‑style king‑size bedroom with dual‑aspect views of Blencathra and Clough Head.

We loved Ruby’s cottage and the stunning location so much that this was our second stay there, returning only 4 days after our first stay! Cottage lovely and comfortable with everything you need, jaw dropping views, short walk to local pubs and within easy reach of Keswick and other Lakes destinations. Ruby’s influence and impact clear as very dog friendly. Will certainly be back.

Returning just four days after your first stay really does say it all — we’re delighted Ruby’s Cottage (and that incredible location) made such a lasting impression on you. Those views truly are jaw?dropping, and it’s lovely to hear you were able to enjoy them again so soon.
It’s great to know you found the cottage comfortable and well equipped with everything you needed, and that the easy access to local pubs and the wider Lakes made it such a perfect base. We’re especially pleased the dog?friendly touches stood out too — Ruby’s influence is definitely still being felt!
