About this property
Coastal Maine Cottage 45 Minutes To Bar Harbor And Acadia National Park
Space
Beautiful coastal area - enjoy biking, birding, hiking, kayaking canoeing and swimming. Sailing crusies on the bay are also available. Interesting and stimulating cultural events and some great places to eat and shop. The cottage is private and includes a sleeping loft, futon couch on the ground floor, small kitchenette, bathroom with an very good hot shower, and a baby grand piano. This is a musician's perfect getaway to practice, compose, record, and delve into their music.
Guest access
Guests have access to a kitchenette in the cottage and a full kitchen my nearby home. High speed internet. Free parking right next to the cottage.
Guest interaction
I really enjoy getting to know guests but I will also respect your privacy. I love the area and know it well. I would be very happy to show you around a bit if we can both find the time
Getting around
There is limited public transportation available in Surry. However, the city of Ellsworth is located approximately 10 miles away where there is bus service to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and Bangor. The village of Blue Hill is located about 8 miles away.
Other things to note
There is a beautiful vista of approximately 20 miles out to the peaks of the mountains of Acadia National Park from the deck of the cottage. The unique and internationally known Surry Concert Barn is about a two minute walk from the cottage. We plan to have a summer program of arts and other special topic events including concerts, films, theater, art exhibitions, etc.
This apartment is located in a spacious, newly-renovated Maine barn on a beautiful and historic farm. It is a five minute walk to nearby scenic Morgan Bay, very close to hiking trails, biking and swimming. Acadia National Park is about 45 minutes away.
The farm offers a seasonal performing arts center featuring classical, jazz, singer songwriter and blues series among others.
Few rental spaces offer all of this in a ten-minute radius.
Pets: Dogs and cats are welcome, but you must contact me in advance so we can discuss details. Upon approval, there is an additional cleaning fee of $50.00 for the one pet or $80 for two pets. The fee for the first pet is included in your VRBO total. If bringing more than one pet, the additional pet fee is payable in cash at checkout. Stays longer than 7 days will need to discuss possible additional pet cleaning fees with the host. Please note that many animals live near the property and frequently walk through it (such as deer, wild turkeys, neighbors' cats, etc.) A porcupine lives under one of the barns, so we recommend keeping dogs on a leash when outside to avoid injury.
Late arrivals after 9:00 PM are subject to a late fee of $25.00.
Additional guests: For more than 2 guests, there is an additional fee of $25 per guest per night.

About the host
Hosted by Property Manager/Owner

I have lived on this property for close to 40 years. I am originally from South Shore, Long Island, near New York City. In my younger years I lived, worked and went to university in New York City. I have pioneered the field of music therapy in the state of Maine. Both on the higher academic levels and in terms of interesting and far reaching clinical projects.
For the last 6-7 years I have put my time and energy into developing a seasonal performing arts project (www.surryartsandevents.com). In addition, I have found I am well-suited for hospitality and have been successful in running three popular VRBO/AirBNB rentals. I know the area well, and like to share what I know with others. We are a 5-6 minute walk to the coast and well situated between two great towns, Blue Hill and Ellsworth. We are in close proximity to Acadia National Park, which draws millions of visitors every year before after and during the pandemic. Finally, I very much want to be part of the solution, not the problem, so we follow all State of Maine CDC COVID-19 guidelines.
I try my very best to assist guests in every way possible. I very much want to share this beautiful area and see people having fulfilling visits and experiences.
