Coastal Maine Cottage 45 Minutes To Bar Harbor And Acadia National Park
Space Beautiful coastal area - enjoy biking, birding, hiking, kayaking canoeing and swimming. Sailing crusies on the bay are also available. Interesting and stimulating cultural events and some great places to eat and shop. The cottage is private and includes a sleeping loft, futon couch on the ground floor, small kitchenette, bathroom with an very good hot shower, and a baby grand piano. This is a musician's perfect getaway to practice, compose, record, and delve into their music.
Guest access Guests have access to a kitchenette in the cottage and a full kitchen my nearby home. High speed internet. Free parking right next to the cottage.
Guest interaction I really enjoy getting to know guests but I will also respect your privacy. I love the area and know it well. I would be very happy to show you around a bit if we can both find the time
Getting around There is limited public transportation available in Surry. However, the city of Ellsworth is located approximately 10 miles away where there is bus service to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and Bangor. The village of Blue Hill is located about 8 miles away.
Other things to note There is a beautiful vista of approximately 20 miles out to the peaks of the mountains of Acadia National Park from the deck of the cottage. The unique and internationally known Surry Concert Barn is about a two minute walk from the cottage. We plan to have a summer program of arts and other special topic events including concerts, films, theater, art exhibitions, etc.
This apartment is located in a spacious, newly-renovated Maine barn on a beautiful and historic farm. It is a five minute walk to nearby scenic Morgan Bay, very close to hiking trails, biking and swimming. Acadia National Park is about 45 minutes away.
The farm offers a seasonal performing arts center featuring classical, jazz, singer songwriter and blues series among others.
Few rental spaces offer all of this in a ten-minute radius.
Pets: Dogs and cats are welcome, but you must contact me in advance so we can discuss details. Upon approval, there is an additional cleaning fee of $50.00 for the one pet or $80 for two pets. The fee for the first pet is included in your VRBO total. If bringing more than one pet, the additional pet fee is payable in cash at checkout. Stays longer than 7 days will need to discuss possible additional pet cleaning fees with the host. Please note that many animals live near the property and frequently walk through it (such as deer, wild turkeys, neighbors' cats, etc.) A porcupine lives under one of the barns, so we recommend keeping dogs on a leash when outside to avoid injury.
Late arrivals after 9:00 PM are subject to a late fee of $25.00.
Additional guests: For more than 2 guests, there is an additional fee of $25 per guest per night.

The cottage was perfect for our needs. Our son LOVED the grand piano. We enjoyed the newspaper clipping showing the history of the place and all the interesting books. We also appreciate being able to hike nearby. Maine is so beautiful.
My fiance and I had a wonderful time using Alan’s place a home base while we explored Acadia and the surrounding area. There were beautiful trails nearby where we walked our dogs, and the stars from the cabin at night were breath-taking. We’ll definitely be back!
Such a lovely stay! Exactly what we needed for day trips into Bar Harbor and Acadia!! Super quiet and neat! Exactly as it was listed online! And the view of the stars from here was absolutely incredible!
This cottage is wonderful! Clean, well maintained and the property was easy to access between Ellsworth, Acadia, and Bar Harbor. Alan, the property own and host is so kind and easy to reach. We’ll definitely be here again.
We loved this cute cottage! It was right down the road from a beautiful path and so close to the park! Great location to explore and come back to! Very adorable place!
Alan was a fantastic host and showed us around the cottage and also showed us on a map several places to go! The property was so peaceful and cozy, and we had such a nice stay. Highly recommend!
Alan is a great host! Very helpful and polite, and everything about the place was perfect us!

Nice property, but little nearby and in the neighborhood
Overall a nice cottage with good amenities. Town was a little far off with not many places open, but overall a pretty area. Would just expect to not be near too much if you are staying here for an extended period of time.
A lovely place to slow down. Alan was an accommodating and kind host, the cabin cozy, and the area peaceful. Loved having the piano to play in that setting :-)
Only stayed one night but Alan was such a wonderful host. Lots of tips about the area. Had a lovely dinner in Ellsworth and a nice morning walk down to the water from the house. Can’t wait to come again
Only spent one night but really enjoyed the time that I spent, the place and the whole property was very nice. Alan was a very great host, and would definitely stay again in the future! Then had a blast at Acadia the next day!
We only stayed one night, but would have loved to stay more. Very quiet location with great star viewing. Close enough to Acadia (45mins). Blue Hill Coop was a great local shop for groceries. Would recommend. Alan was a very friendly host !
My brother and I LOVED our stay. Not only is this cabin a great jump off for Acadia, but also in the heart of Surry which is a charming town in its own right. Dog friendly with plenty of quiet roads and trails near by. Perry’s Lobster Shack is a must during your stay. Thank you for everything, Alan!
Very clean cabin on a quiet property. Everything I needed for the week. 5 minutes walk to 3 nature preserves. I attended 2 different musical
performances and learned Contra dancing in the village. performancesperformances

About the host
Hosted by Property Manager/Owner
I have lived on this property for close to 40 years. I am originally from South Shore, Long Island, near New York City. In my younger years I lived, worked and went to university in New York City. I have pioneered the field of music therapy in the state of Maine. Both on the higher academic levels and in terms of interesting and far reaching clinical projects.
For the last 6-7 years I have put my time and energy into developing a seasonal performing arts project (www.surryartsandevents.com). In addition, I have found I am well-suited for hospitality and have been successful in running three popular VRBO/AirBNB rentals. I know the area well, and like to share what I know with others. We are a 5-6 minute walk to the coast and well situated between two great towns, Blue Hill and Ellsworth. We are in close proximity to Acadia National Park, which draws millions of visitors every year before after and during the pandemic. Finally, I very much want to be part of the solution, not the problem, so we follow all State of Maine CDC COVID-19 guidelines.
I try my very best to assist guests in every way possible. I very much want to share this beautiful area and see people having fulfilling visits and experiences.
