Coming from Chicago area we were really looking for the views and were not disappointed. The home was perfect for our needs and we loved sitting on the deck. Some reviews mentioned the driveway and trouble backing out to the street but we had no problems at all. Location was peaceful which was needed after dealing with the Thanksgiving weekend traffic.
We enjoyed our stay very much. It had the most spectacular view of Douglas Lake with the mountains behind it.
The house was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped.
Only negatives were the master bath. Tub was impossible to get in and out of. We had to use 2nd bathroom to shower. The driveway was steep and hard to get out
My boys and I loved everything about the house and the views walking out on the deck. The only thing that could make it perfect is a hot tub on that deck 🤗
Our family stayed 5 days in this beautiful home and we loved it! Had no issues with the property. There is no lake access from property but lake and mountain view from the large back deck was beautiful, and lake access was just a 5 min drive away. It was a very peaceful area with no traffic. Would definitely stay here again. We had ages 18months, teen, young adult, and us older parents and we all loved the property.
This is a wonderful, comfortable home, with a spectacular view of both the sunrise and the sunset. You can also see the Douglas Dam from the porch. We loved this place and did not want to leave!
Pictures really can't do the lake view justice! It is full of color even in December. The location is great. This was cheaper and more private than most hotels, so we feel it is very well priced even though there are a few things that were less than ideal.
Be sure to bring Kcups for coffee. It is a single and there is a reusable Kcup. But for multiple adults it took a while to keep cleaning it to use.
If you need a nonstick pan and a spatula, bring them. Otherwise the kitchen is fairly well stocked.
The "step down" tub/shower in the master is drafty and very hard to get in and out of, but it does work.
And note that the bed in the bigger guest bedroom is a water bed.
Overall, we enjoyed our weekend and had great family time there!
After wrapping up a long, arduous work project, I found myself in need a quiet getaway - and this more than fit the bill. Looking forward to return in the upcoming years.
My personal highlights:
- Outstanding views of Lake Douglas, I spent three perfect fall days just sitting outside reading and looking at the lake
- Remarkably quiet and peaceful - so very quiet I wager I could hear a pin drop at night
- Relaxing - I had some of the best sleep I can remember on the very comfortable mattress in the master bedroom
- Great workspace off the master bedroom - a comfy chair and an excellent desk made room to catch up on some reading and personal projects
- Room to spread out - great place for family or close friends to share and not feel on top of each other all day long. Between the guest bedrooms, the deck, the living area, and the kitchen this would be a great vacation destination.
Great views in a quiet neighborhood and everything worked perfectly for our family. Communication was excellent and timely. Definitely recommend and we will be back in the future!
Everything went perfectly. Exactly as described and super easy check in and check out. Used this lake house as homebase for excursions to Dollywood, great Smoky Mountains, pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. Really nice to get away from the downtown area and come back to nature. Great view of the smoky mountains as well. There is a beach available at Douglas lake that’s only a 5 to 10 minute drive away. Nice deck outback to have your morning coffee and lookout over the lake. Great host thanks so much would love to come back someday.
Beautiful views as advertised. However there was no information given about the stepdown tub until we were given the lock box code. Three of the four of us have hip and knee issues the kept us from using that tub/shower; nor were we informed that the jets on the tub didn't work. The only person able to use it was expecting a jacuzzi and was quite disappointed. There were no mirrors in the 2 smaller bedrooms and no electrical outlet in the guest bathroom. This was very inconvenient since 3 of us needed to shower in the guest bath. These may be small issues but should be noted. I am not just complaining, we have stayed at numerous vrbos and owned a vacation rental ourselves. Little things make a big difference in an experience. Contacted Andrew twice during our stay and he was very responsive.
Loved my stay. House was very clean Location was perfect on a quiet street. Andrew provided very clear directions to the house & instructions for check in/out. I would definitely stay here again
The photos don't do it justice. It's a very nice home and we'd rent again. Host was very detailed with information about the property, dock, location, parking, etc. Thanks!
Site need to have more pics. Would be nice to have instructions for checkout posted in the house. Other than that..very clean/comfortable. Loved the view an access to local area. Out of the way but not too far to get to thing. Overall, enjoyed our time.
Pros: plenty of space, cute decor, up to date couches, great view, convent to the lake to rock hound for Douglas Diamonds.
Cons: not enough hot water, uncomfortable beds, driveway is horrible, outdoor seating gets dirty and wet. Suggest a bin to keep outdoor cushions dry.
