About this property
Private Waterfalls on 3 Acres. A Creekside Smoky Mtn Retreat - Read Our Reviews!
Note: No scary, steep mountain roads to traverse! Easy access off I-40. You will be staying only 2 miles off exit 412, which is only 4 miles from exit 407, the gateway to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and The Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Be prepared to be awed! You’ve just found a little slice of heaven.
Stay next to a fully functioning 1798 grist mill. A rare piece of TN history
This 2 story, coziest of cabins on 3 secluded acres
Relax by your own private cascading creek. Cook out on the grill, picnic or warm up by the fire pit, all creek side. If you’re lucky, you might get a rare sighting of our resident family of six otters playing & diving for fish in the creek!
Dandridge (the 2nd oldest town in TN) scenic Douglas Lake, Pigeon Forge and The Smokies are close by.
Experience a place that, prior to being featured on the Discovery Channel, was known only to a few locals.
Privately tucked away in a 3 acre wooded hollow, is a place like no other. Driving in, the three story, fully functioning, authentic 1798 grist mill will greet, charm & fascinate. Note: Mill is not open to the public so you will have the property all to yourselves during your stay.
This property has been an iron forge, foundry; and a mill (for locals and moonshiners alike) for the past 225+ years. The cabin, hidden behind the mill, was built much later as a private residence. This property is now, for the first time in history, available for you to enjoy. By staying here you will also be contributing to the preservation and upkeep of this wonderful piece of history for future generations.
Hidden behind the mill is the cabin on Dumplin Creek. King & queen bedrooms upstairs, a newly remodeled bathroom downstairs, quaint kitchen, living room & hidden laundry.
If it couldn’t get any better than this, sit on one of the front porch rockers or swing and be relaxed by your own private cascading creek! Historic Dumplin Creek runs right through the middle of the property, has a 5ft deep swimming hole and is even known to have a fish or two. Explore the trail behind the cabin (at your own risk) where the old mill race runs, all the way to the sluice gate and dam, which is also part of this enchanting property.
Cook out on the grill, picnic, or roast marshmallows on the fire pit, all creekside.
Living away from it all, you may feel like Davy Crockett, and keep in mind that you are only a few minutes away from the second oldest town in Tennessee, one of the most scenic (& best fishing) lakes around and within a short drive to Pigeon Forge and The Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
With nature abounding, history and all the attractions that the area has to offer, what could be better? But, be forewarned, you may not want to leave.
Note: The inside of the old grist mill, located on this property, is not available to the public, nor (for safety reasons) is it available for our guests to go inside.

This place was just as described and the photos do not do it justice! Excellent in every way, from the cleanliness of the cabin, to the beautiful scenery and the gracious host. I was in town on business and got to enjoy this place for 11 nights and would highly recommend it.
My sister and I loved staying at the house. It is a beautiful place. The outdoor space is so private and peaceful. Every evening we talked around the fire pit. Will be staying here again! Thanks Lisa
We really enjoyed our stay! The sound of the waterfall was so relaxing - several places to just sit and listen, especially the porch swing. One morning there were deer in the creek and there was a squirrel family playing in the tree by the picnic table. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. Great communication with the host. Hope we can come back some time!
Beautiful and unique! The cabin and property were very clean and had everything you need. The owners were wonderful and the waterfall was a perfect setting. We loved everything and look forward to returning!
The hosts have been clear and open with communication from the booking date to the exit. It's easy to see when you arrive (we were early June) that the homeowners were certainly blessed when they found this property! I can't speak to how common it is to have a lot this pretty, this private, this calming, and including falls, but this is fabulous for peaceful nature lovers! The cabin has the bases covered for creature comforts. Bring provisions and prepare simple meals here; use the laundry area if needed; enjoy the porch swing and rocking chairs. They have a neat bbq picnic area closer to the falls. Hopefully guests will continue to care well for the property so we can go back again!
A beautiful, peaceful, special property. So glad we spent a week here. I miss having morning coffee on the porch, enjoying the waterfall and nature. We will be back!
This has to have been one of our favorite bookings. It's close to just about anything you could want or need but feels like it's out in the middle of nowhere. The cabin was exceptionally well stocked & clean. Communication was exceptional. The photos do not do the waterfalls justice; it was a beautiful sitting area. We even had a rabbit visitor most mornings. The only minor reminder is to pay attention to the details of the rooms & beds on the listing, because the bathroom is downstairs & both bedrooms are upstairs - and the stairway is relatively steep. (I could see that being a potential issue for some folks.)This is a property we would gladly return to, and have already been discussing that possibility.
Stay – A Hidden Slice of Smoky Mountain MagicWe had an incredible stay here. The location is a huge plus—just a couple of miles off I-40 with easy access, but once you arrive, it feels completely secluded and peaceful. The historic 200 year-old grist mill is as fascinating as advertised and gives the property a really unique character. But the highlight for us was the creek. The cascading water, small waterfall, and overall setting made it the perfect place to relax. We spent a lot of time just enjoying the outdoors and even saw deer in the evenings, which made it feel like a true escape. The cabin itself was cozy and comfortable, with everything we needed for a laid-back stay.Another big win is the location—you’re close to Dandridge, Douglas Lake, and the Smokies, but far enough away to avoid the crowds and chaos of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.Overall, this place truly feels like a little slice of heaven. Peaceful, scenic, and unique—we’d absolutely stay again.
