The home has been completely renovated and is centrally located to Maine attractions such as LL Bean, riverfront restaurants in Hallowell, as well as the Old Port in Portland Maine. Whether it's reading a book in the quietness of the Maine woods, kayaking on the lake, hiking w friends, or cooking some amazing food in the crisp lake air, you'll experience the beauty of Maine when you rent this guest retreat.

My family of 7 had a great experience during our week stay. Communication from the hosts was great. They were proactive with providing information and thoughtful throughout the stay, checking in, providing additional towels for the waterfront, and seeing if we had any additional needs. The house was as pictured, and well appointed with everything we needed for a great week.

The location of the guest house was perfect. We were doing the Half Ironman in Augusta and it was perfect such a short ride away. We also were so close to Portland and we drove there for one day and brought back lobster to cook. The hosts were great and had the house all ready for us when we arrived and gave some great recommendations for places to eat in the area. There is a very nice grocery store about 10-15 mins away which had everything you would need. The sunsets were breathtaking, the lake is beautiful, we did a nice practice swim prior to the race and my husband was able to kayak alongside us since there were kayaks provided at the house. They have a nice area to sit and watch the sunset on their dock which was awesome along with a nice firepit. The kitchen was great we cooked a few meals there and upstairs room is awesome with a great view of the lake and lots of space.

Gem of a place to stay visiting our Bates student! House was roomy, very clean, and beds were comfy. Great communication with the hosts. Hope to stay again in warmer weather so we can take advantage of the outdoor spots- balcony on each floor, fire pit area, and lake access.

Quiet near the lake

The owners are on site and are very respectful and wonderful people. Quiet area with a very short walk to the lake. Great location with short drives to Freeport, Lewiston, and Brunswick. Would stay again!

Graduation Weekend at Sailors Rest

We spent Bates Graduation weekend at Sailors Rest. Paul and Kevin were fabulous hosts and Sailors Rest was the perfect port in the bittersweet graduation storm. I do hope we’ll be back.

Great retreat!

This was a great place to spend the weekend. Spent the day out on the ice and came in to a shower that was very hot and had great pressure. The place was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Would love to stay here again at some point.

A lovely getaway!

We had a lovely time here over the weekend for a last minute getaway out of the city. The property was clean and the hosts were very considerate, and put out towels and the lake toys for us! The property is definitely steep, so be mindful if you have young kids or older family. Overall, an easy and beautiful stay.

Peaceful stay

We enjoyed our stay in this peaceful location while visiting our son at Bates. The house was as described with everything you could possibly need; very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed walking down to the dock with our coffee in the morning and relaxing around the fire pit with our wine in the evening. Communications with the host were great!

Woodland Escape.

We very much enjoyed our stay in Paul’s guesthouse. It was roomy and comfortable. Plenty of towels and kitchen equipment. The area is quiet and naturally beautiful.

Great weekend by the 'pond'

We very much enjoyed Sailor's Rest. It was perfect for our three generation family. Paul and Kevin were great hosts, very accommodating and checked in with me by text throughout the stay to make sure all our needs were met. Sailors Rest

We had a peaceful stay at the guesthouse. The guesthouse is conducive to both a family get away or a ladies weekend away! Paul was also available to answer any questions. We will be back!
