WELCOME TO LAUGHING WHALE COTTAGE!! A rarity to have 2 attached sides under one roof so you can vacation together but have your privacy too! A charming and stylishly remodeled vintage beach cottage consisting of the 2 complete, attached units of our single level duplex home. The units share their enclosed front patios by a door which can be opened to connect the patios or closed if part of your group wants some privacy (for say, sleeping late!). About a 90 second walk to the sand, you can easily enjoy the beach for your morning coffee or spend the day enjoying the sun, soft sand, and ocean breezes while swimming or shelling. Park in back, walk right in! We have private, large concrete parking both front and back. WE INCLUDE ALL LINENS AND BEACH GEAR!! SUPPLIES WE PROVIDE: PAPER TOWELS, TOILET PAPER, DISH SOAP, DISHWASHER SOAP, HAND SOAP, TRASH BAGS, LAUNDRY SUPPLIES, TIN FOIL, PLASTIC ZIP LOCK BAGS, COFFEE, SUGAR, CREAM, AND 2 GALLONS OF BOTTLED WATER. ALL LINENS INCLUDING BEACH TOWELS. BEACH CHAIRS, BEACH UMBRELLA, ROLLING BEACH CART, LARGE AND SMALL COOLERS, SAND TOYS, CORN HOLE GAME. ***FREE WIFI, CABLE PACKAGE WITH AND NETFLIX.

A true vintage beach cottage duplex, LAUGHING WHALE COTTAGE has undergone a big restoration and renovation to provide all the quality, charm and character you want for your beach vacation. You have the use of the ENTIRE property to yourselves for parking, relaxing, BBQing, games or dining. The pictures say it all: original ceilings and beams, new shiplap walls, 2 full kitchens and 2 full/2 half bathrooms with all new fixtures including full size washer and dryer! Since this house is furnished for use by us, our family and friends, you will find comfy beds, new and vintage furniture, and top quality linens such as Tommy Bahama and Ralph Lauren. There is an enclosed front patio with climate control with table and chairs for dining or games. In back is a covered wood porch and gas grill so you can BBQ, play corn hole (provided) and sit under the pair of oaks that are lit for night time enjoyment. There is an enclosed outdoor shower and shell washing station (great for sandy toys too).
You are a short walk to several restaurants/bars and a short drive to SO many restaurants, shopping, golf, miniature golf, and bowling. Minutes from Barefoot Landing, House of Blues, and many other local attractions, as well as all the tourist attractions in Myrtle Beach. There are many special events here in NMB such as Thursday free summer concerts downtown.


***We have ALWAYS taken great care in the cleanliness of our rental as you can see from even our first reviews. We have ALWAYS used bleach based products as well as disinfectant wipes to clean all high touch surfaces, counters, light switches, handles, door knobs, remote controls and even EACH page of our guest book! We also provide a bottle of disinfecting cleaner for guests to use.
**Please note we have exterior, motion activated cameras.

LAYOUT:

EACH side features a kitchen, dining set with 4 chairs, living room. The 2 front patios additionally have table/chair seating for 10 (when connecting door is open) with 2 extra chairs.
EACH side has a primary bedroom with king size bed. The second bedroom on one side has 2 queen beds, the other side second bedroom has 1 queen and 1 full bed. The sofas are NOT sleepers.
Both sides has a full size washer and dryer.

Living rooms have a large flat screen TV, sofa, love seat and chair.

Kitchens have dishwasher, full oven/stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker. Blender, iron and ironing board available by request.

NO SMOKINGS OR VAPING ANYWHERE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE PROPERTY!

Family vacation

Wonderful experience! Everything was there and available for us to use. From wagons, extra beach towels, umbrellas (thank goodness , since we didnt know we couldnt use our tent.) We also loved the outdoor shower. The short walk to the beach was so nice too. The whole family loved it and want to stay there again. The Laughing Whale was the perfect beachy cottage for our Myrtle Beach vacation. Mary and Scott have thought of everything. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed for our lazy days in as well as everything needed for the beach. The beach wagons and towels were super helpful and one less thing that needed to be packed. We would definitely return.

Adorable!

Everything was as advertised for this property and then some. The dual set up was perfect for a getaway with friends and our kids. Conveniently located neighborhood, accessible to the beach and local attractions, we wanted for nothing. Most of all, the small personal touches welcoming our crew went above and beyond. The owners were so responsive and attentive and nothing short of amazing. Would visit again in a heartbeat - probably the best rental experience I have ever had.

the best beach vacation

This was the best beach vacation we have had. It only took us 1 min to walk to the beach and they provided everything we could possibly need including chairs, wagons, umbrellas, and towels. We could clean off easily in the outdoor shower. The beds were extremely comfortable and they made us feel welcome from the start with some treats, snacks, and drinks when we arrived.

The Laughing Whale was the perfect place for our vacation! It is located in a quiet neighborhood. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed! All of our beach needs, toiletries, 2 jugs of water in the frig, beds were comfortable! I would recommend the Laughing Whale to anyone who wants a relaxing vacation! Everything was perfect! The beach cottage was exactly as described in the listing. Everything you could possibly need was there and more. We had such a great time with the quick walk to the beach, great location to activities, shopping and loads of restaurants to choose from. And did I mention the beach :-). Crescent Beach was great! We walked each morning and night, and the water was perfect with fun waves. We couldn't have been happier on our relaxing vacation at the Blue Whale Cottage. Thank you Mary and Scott. Family Reunion

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this fantastic beach cottage. The host/owners, Scott and Mary are easy to get in touch with and very accommodating. They had such lovely personal touches upon arrival… Complete with a personalized welcome sign and some delicious treats as well as an adorable Complete with an adorable gift for our infant granddaughter. The cottage was super clean. My daughters in-laws kept commenting on how every detail was taken care of and it was decorated beautifully. We would definitely consider staying here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay for any beach trip to North Myrtle Beach.

Scott and Mary's home was more than we could have ever known to ask for. The set-up for our 2 families was perfect, with both sides of the duplex, the property was situated as close to the beach as it possibly could be without sitting directly on it, and all of the extras included, from beach toys and wagons, to waters and fruit and snacks for the kids. Anniversary weekend

Let me begin by saying that Scott and Mary could not be more gracious hosts. They made our experience so special, right down to the delicious anniversary cake, which was a huge surprise. The house was spotless, and the special touches made our stay so much more comfortable. If you cook, the kitchen is stocked with plenty of pots, pans and utensils. There is plenty of parking and spacious covered porches. I like to say that it is a cottage with a larger house feel. Thank you again for sharing your gem so that our family could make memories!!!

I would give 6 stars if I could

Prior to booking our stay, we reviewed several properties and could not help notice the amazing reviews of this property. I can tell you that Scott and Mary deserve them all and even six stars if I could. The short walk to the beach and all supplies like chairs, umbrella, wagon, cooler made it very convenient. I had mentioned in my booking request that were celebrating a birthday for one guest and retirement for another and they had some well wishes as well as a little cake to celebrate. I travel often for work and have stayed at several VRBOs and cannot think of a better property and hosts. I highly recommend a stay here and we will absolutely be back.

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! Our family had the most enjoyable experience ever at the beach. This was the easiest rental experience we have ever had. The owners are amazing, they reply very quickly and provide everything anyone could need or want. The attention to detail is outstanding! The cottage is beautiful and very comfortable. It is so nice to pull up to the door and simply walk in. No steps, elevators, etc. Very accessible. This is an amazing beach cottage and we hope to stay there again! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property because of it's age and the fact it is part of a long-established neighborhood and we are only the second owners. This duplex is in a great location to enjoy the beach year round, just a street off Ocean Blvd giving us less traffic than directly on the Boulevard but a quick walk to the beach. A prime destination for summertime visitors, North Myrtle Beach has lots of brand new shopping and dining and it's convenient for everything you need, but has a smaller beach town vibe down by the beach.

What makes this property unique

Gorgeous vintage tongue and groove and beamed ceilings. Ship lap walls, heavy solid 5 panel doors, and 2 shady oaks give this house that old-school beach vacation feel. From the back it is one step up to house level, you can let yourself in whenever you arrive so NO WAITING for check-in! Check-out is just as easy. No lines, no parking shortage, no elevators, NO HASSLE! Easy in, easy out, and some nice outdoor space for relaxing, dining, grilling and a friendly game of corn hole.....
