We had a great long weekend getaway here for the 4th of July. My family had the best time and enjoyed our stay. My husband and kids fished and swam non-stop. We loved the boat parade and fireworks that some neighbors did over the lake for the holiday. What a great spot, local restaurants were great, and less than an hour away from Mackinaw City where we caught a ferry to Mackinac Island.

I’m glad everyone had a good time. Thank you for a great review, I appreciate that. Hope to see you again.
House was as advertised and well furnished. It was a little hard to find but once arrived everything was great. We loved having the kayaks and SUP boards to play on the lake. The kids caught perch, bluegill, rock bass and even a large mouth right from the dock. We’ve never stayed with the hosts right next door before. Tom came over to meet us after we arrived. He is friendly and responded quickly when I had a question. Other than that we didn’t see them throughout the week. Gaylord was close enough to enjoy some dining, shopping, ice cream and get groceries. We traveled to Petoskey and Mackinaw City which were each about an hour away. Overall, we really enjoyed our trip. Thanks for having us!
The Cottage is comfortable and more than spacious for our family of 4 adults. Easy sleeping. Ample area to relax together indoors (though we didn’t have to because we were blessed with beautiful summer weather). Kitchen is very adequately stocked. We made good use of the gas grill and prepared most dinners there. When the propane tank ran out, our host addressed the issue very timely. Dining and gorgeous views of the lake from the deck were enjoyed by all. Sitting lakeside was wonderful especially in the morning. And you can see/listen to the distinctive loon calls during the day. The view of a starlit sky from seating platform at end of the dock at night was breathtaking. Host provides good kayaks, paddle boards and a small boat for getting around a beautiful lake that’s usually looking glass calm.Proximity to Gaylord and small town of Waters is very convenient. But far enough removed that all you experience is tranquillity on the property. This is a fantastic place and the host is awesome! What else can I say? Loved every moment.
This cottage was so beautiful and had everything we needed! The owners were amazing and communication with them was amazing! We stay up at Heart Lake every year for the last 8 years and we were so happy with this experience
Great lakefront getaway for our family! The home was very clean and plenty of room for our family of five. Wonderful extras including a boat with an electric motor, kayaks as well as paddle boards for our use. Close proximity to golf and dining. Hosts were very hospitable and easily accessible. Would absolutely enjoy visiting again.
The best lake experience! This lake cottage was perfect for our families Michigan lake getaway. It's located on Heart Lake which is a quiet private lake just on the edge of Gaylord. Tom was a gem of a host and made us feel so welcome! The cabin is comfortable and equipped with everything you need, but the true magic is from the private dock. There are paddle boards and kayaks to use complete with life vests and we could not get our boys off the lake. A perfect experience for us "out of towners" looking to live lake life for a few days.
Great property from Tom and Lynette. The home was impecably clean, well appointed, and in a great location. The Iron Belle trail is just across the street, and an easy ride to Waters for dinner or ice cream. Everyone enjoyed the record collection and huge selection of board games in the loft. Highly recommend!
My wife & I had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the cottage. Everything we could need was provided, and the owners Tom & Lynette were friendly and responsive to any need.
The cottage was immaculate when we arrived and it was easy to find everything we needed, and everything we needed for, say, cooking, was readily available.
Loved sitting down by the water at the beginning and end of the day, and paddleboarding out on the lake was a real treat.
We loved our stay on Heart Lake! The cottage was clean, cute, comfy and stocked with everything we needed. Tom and Lynnette are so friendly and accomodating. We loved kayaking and paddleboarding every morning, swimming to the floating dock, having bonfires every night, and just enjoying the sheer beauty of the lake. So relaxing and enjoyable! Lots of great restaurants locally and a nice walking/bike path across the street for morning exercise. It was a great experience!
Super cute “cottage” on Heart Lake. The property was spotless and the hosts were very accommodating, asking us to make sure to contact them if we needed anything. We didn’t need anything. Everything was already there at our fingertips. The weather was wonderful and we were able to make full use of the kayaks. Heart Lake is crystal clear and a pleasure to kayak on, as it has a no wake area and is quite quiet even in the area where a wake is allowed. Would highly recommend.
The Cottage was immaculate when we arrived. Check in process was so easy and the owners (Tom and Lynnette) couldn't have been nicer. My three boys loved the loft sleeping area and quickly took it over as their domain! They enjoyed played records on the record player. There was such a great variety from which to choose. We spent most days on the lake, fishing (wish there were more fish to catch), kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. The Cottage was very close to the town of Gaylord, which was convenient for grocery shopping and dining out. We enjoyed the bike path right across the street. The house was stocked with all the things you would need (and more!) to make your stay more enjoyable. The one thing that will stick in our minds is the unforgettable view from the deck and patio. Waking up to that every day was magical! Thank you, Tom and Lynnette for a great stay!
Tom was a great host. Communication was very good. The rooms were very clean. The pier and dock worked out great for our boat. We enjoyed our time here. We look forward to coming again.
We had a wonderful time on Heart Lake. This property was set up wonderfully, plenty of room and it provided every necessity we could ask for. Our family enjoyed plenty of fishing, swimming, paddling, and soaking up the last of summer's sunshine. What a perfect get away!
We had a fantastic time at The Cottage! Tom and Lynnette are great hosts - super helpful and responsive to our questions. The house is extremely well appointed with every amenity necessary. The kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked, plenty of linens and towels. Beds are comfortable. The huge book collection was a welcome bonus for our kids, and the record collection was a lot of fun. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle board every day and had a great bonfire in the fire pit. In the area, we enjoyed Roscommon Zoo and Coopersville, but we also had a great full day just staying at the house on the lake, boating and swimming! We would definitely return to this great property!
My sisters, Mom and I booked this darling cottage for an annual girls trip and had so much fun! The cottage was super cute and clean, in a fantastic location on quiet Heart Lake! The hosts were wonderful, thoughtful and accommodating and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thanks, Lynette & Tom:)
7 of us stayed for mini girls weekend. House was as described and very well stocked. Very clean inside . Owners took care of anything we inquired about and was always a text away. Highly recommend getting a massage with Lynette. She was awesome and it was so relaxing. Only thing I would recommend is a tv in bedroom. we had great weather and was able to use all the kayaks and paddle board. Thanks for everything Tom and Lynette. Hope to see you again in the near future.
Wonderful location. Great cottage for little kids with the shallow water depth 20 yards off shore. Super clean property inside and out. Wonderful floor plan for kids with the loft and beds upstairs. Hosts were very kind and helpful. Definitely recommend and would stay again.
Loved the property, lots of activities for kids and teens, very comfortable venue. All our teens asked how we found such a great place to stay. Loved every moment.
Our family had a great long weekend at Lynnette and Tom’s home on Heart Lake! We swam, did cannon balls off the raft, kayaked, paddle boarded, hiked, barbecued, played cards and fished!:-)

About the host

We are so happy you may join us on this treasure of a lake. We love to meet new guests and make your stay unforgetable. In 2021, Tom left his over 50 year career as the owner of the downtown Gaylord Buick/GMC Dealership that his parents bought in the 60's. Lynnette came to Gaylord after retiring as a Public Health Director in 2012 and in 2021 joined Tom in what they love to do together: spending time enJOYing the great outdoors working in the yard and gardens that includes the growing fruit farm just to the South.
Why they chose this property

What makes this property unique
