The Space
Rustic Chic rebuilt 1920's hay barn. Respecting the original space and vernacular, the two floors are open lofts. Great for Artist, writer or photographer. The two floors are completely open, so a large group or two couples should be comfortable sharing space. The circular driveway lined with Apple Trees leads to a large stone entrance patio and ground floor entrance with large kitchen island with 4 gas burner stove, a large stainless sink and countertop, double oven, microwave. and refrigerator that makes water and ice. There is a seperate toilet with sink, and a single shower with sink. The pellet stove, washer and dryer and the living room with TV are also on the ground level, as is a desk area with scanner and 11x17 printer for your use. There is one Queen size bed on this ground level for guests who prefer not to take the stairs.
The second floor is also an open loft with a queen and full size bed, with a place to do yoga and light excercise...(please no jumping as she is an old building). There is also a music space with full drum kit, guitar, base and PA for your use. Any additional musical equipment, and musicians for play or lessons can be arranged.
There are Repurposed materials throughout the space, and the Barn was rebuilt as an Energy efficent home. There are radiant floors on both stories. Please note the property and home are private, and there are amazing views of a marsh area out the back windows to the North. Abundant bird and wildlife watching, including wild Turkey and Deer. There are no street lights and the stars and Milky Way on a clear night are unbelievably bright. The light that moves through the building during the day is incredible, and no artificial lighting is needed. There are large curtains on the front glass doors for extra privacy, but please note there are no shades on any of the windows.
There is a large south facing stone patio and entry in the front of the house with a large BBQ with side stove. There is also a little metal firepit for your use that when lit warms up the stones very nicely. Please keep this a good distance away from the home if used.
During the summer guests can use the Lakeville lake facilities, which are about a 4 minute drive away. A canoe is provided for you on the property. The 9 hole Hotchkiss golf course is just up the road as well.
During the winter you have access to 3 local ski resports 30-45 minutes away....and their is an a ski jump facility in Lakeville. The property is within a mile of both Hotchkiss and Indian Mountain school.
