Shanty Creek Treehouse

Located within the beautiful Shanty Creek/Schuss Mountain resort area, the Treehouse is perfectly located to take advantage of four seasons of Northern Michigan splendor! Sitting high in the hardwood forest, the Treehouse is only minutes from pools (included with your stay), lakes, restaurants and the area`s finest golf courses. You’re right in the middle of all the amenities and fun you expect in the beautiful Shanty Creek area!



In the milder months, there`s plenty to do here. Drive the kids a couple minutes over to the indoor pool / hot tub at Schuss Village. Put in a few holes at the most picturesque golf courses in the state. Take a 15-minute drive out to gorgeous Torch Lake (the `Carribean of the north`!). Hike, bike and play on some of Michigan`s most beautiful and well-kept trails. Climb to the top of Schuss Mountain. The house is located in a beautiful, wooded neighborhood full of paved, gently rolling streets and paths and is great for bike riding. There are many mountain biking trails around the area as well - the beautiful Glacial Hills bike trail system is only 10 minutes away. Or maybe just sit out on the deck with your morning coffee; high up in the trees, you`ll hear only the whispering hardwoods and occasional chickadee.



For the colder months, the family friendly Schuss Mountain (or the `Kingdom of Schuss` as we call it) offers the very best skiing and snowboarding around. Trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing are within minutes of the Treehouse, as are trails for riding your Fat Mountain Bikes. When the day is done, curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book and good company.



The Treehouse sleeps 8+ comfortably and offers a full kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea, two full bathrooms, large, comfy bedrooms, and a spacious rec room with a pool table and video games Wi-Fi, cable TV, in-house laundry facilities, and a pack n play type crib are also included.



The Bellaire area offers access to hundreds of attractions. Shanty Creek boasts five championship golf courses: Cedar River (Weiskopf), The Legend (Palmer), Schuss Mountain Course, Summit Course and Hawkseye. In addition, other excellent courses are conveniently located nearby. Take a short trip to Lake Bellaire, Torch Lake, or Grand Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan for swimming or boating, or enjoy a nice, relaxing canoe ride down the Jordan river. This property is perfect for a family with teens or young adults. With a family room, pool table, and 2 bedrooms on one floor for the kids. Then another family room, dining room, kitchen, and one bedroom. Very close to the ski hill with a nice pool and hot tub.

Charming chalet

This property was just perfect for our family getaway. Close to the slopes and Bellaire for fun but a wonderful house to come back to and rest up! We really loved the indoor and outdoor fire pits!

Love this place

This was the second time we stayed in this house. Only issue was a problem with the mini-split heaters but backup baseboard heaters did the job. Will stay there again.

Lovely place

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in April. It was lovely - we loved the house/atmosphere. I am a clean freak and it was clean enough - not perfect, but clean enough that I was very comfortable. 😊 The decor and design of the place was great - cozy, restful, quiet. We would definitely stay again!

Exceptional Place!

We absolutely loved staying at the Treehouse. This home was very clean and well maintained. There was plenty of room for all of us. We were able to cook our meals here and the family had a great time. It was wonderful being so close to the ski runs. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you!

Relaxing property close to ski hill and XC trails. Joe was super responsive in solving any issues. Heating system was a tab confusing, house warmed up well. Fireplace is nice and cozy! Definitely would stay again!

Perfect!!

The house was exactly as pictures and reviews implied. When we entered, the house smelled great and found everything was very clean. We had 4 guys playing golf at Shanty creek and could not have been a better weekend. The house is close to the courses and town to get anything ya need. Highly recommend and already planning a trip back!!

We enjoyed our stay at The Treehouse. Joe was accessible as needed to answer questions throughout the weekend. The house was stocked with all house necessities (plenty of bath towels!) and the firewood provided for guests is a really nice touch. We hope to return soon.

We booked this listing while seeking a getaway to relax and struck gold! It is situated beautifully in a quiet, wooded setting. With bedrooms on 2 floors we all had privacy. The location was convenient for Northern MI exploration. The hosts were available easily abd helpful. Very clean, modern, and unique. We loved it!

This is a great quiet spot during the off season for the resort. The quiet is therapeutic.

My family enjoyed this home for Easter. It was perfect for us. We definitely enjoyed the balcony and having a couple fires- listening to silence and sometimes an eery animal sound (neat though!) My husband and I already discussed gling back to this house again. My 5 year old daughter said a couple times how much the house was her favorite part of our little vacation away from people.

Fantastic, superb, excellent experience!

The property exceeded expectations. Incredibly clean, well stocked with games, TVs, beds, linens; everything you could possibly need. The location, floorplan, comfort was outstanding. The wifi and owner's book of recommended places to eat, things to do was spot-on. The owner was extremely prompt in communication once the house was booked, and everything was prepared as well as it could be. Overall, our family of four would highly recommend this property to anybody looking to take advantage of one of the best overall areas in the state of Michigan.

Peaceful stay at the Tree House

The Tree house was exactly as described. It was extremely clean and felt so cozy and comfortable. We really enjoyed that the kitchen was open to the dining/living room. The view from the huge windows overlooking the deck was beautiful and peaceful. You truly felt you were up in the trees! The communication with our hosts before arriving was very clear and helpful. We didn’t need to reach out during our stay because everything was wonderful! We’d love to return perhaps in the fall when the leaves are all changing colors. 😊 Thanks for a great stay!

Outstanding Experience

We were able to book a short stay during Spring Break. Description and reviews were spot on! Communication with owner was fast, and helpful if we had any questions. The cleanest vacation place we have ever stayed at. Offered all the necessary conveniences and supplies:) From a fully stocked kitchen with coffee pot, pans, dishes, glassware, cooking utensils and appliances, to a variety of games, blankets, a wonderful pool table to play. I have a little reservation about coming in April. This is a ski resort/ golf paradise when season are in place, but we were between seasons and wasn't sure if there would be much to do, but there was. We were able to relax inside, grill out on the porch, takes walks, eat at nearby restaurants, shop, and do some sightseeing. We enjoyed ourselves immensely, and plan to return again! Thank you for a wonderful experience:)

Cozy Cabin in the Trees

I recently stayed at the Shanty Creek Treehouse in Michigan, and it was the perfect getaway for our group of nine. From the moment we arrived, the cabin felt like a true home away from home. The rustic charm was complemented by modern touches, making it both inviting and comfortable.One of the highlights was the vintage fireplace in the living room. It was the ideal spot to unwind after a day of exploring the area or playing in the snow. The warmth and ambiance it provided made the evenings feel extra special. We also loved the pool table in the game room — a great addition for some friendly competition and laughter. The space was big enough for all of us to enjoy without feeling cramped.The cabin comfortably accommodated nine people, with plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The bedrooms were cozy and well-appointed, and we woke up to beautiful views of the surrounding forest.Schuss Mountain itself was peaceful and serene, offering a sense of seclusion, but still close enough to local attractions for easy day trips. Whether we were lounging by the fire, playing pool, or simply enjoying the quiet outdoors, every moment felt relaxing and rejuvenating.If you're looking for a cabin that combines comfort, warmth, and fun, this is the place. It's the ideal retreat for families or groups looking to escape and recharge in a stunning Michigan setting. Highly recommend!One word of caution the area is very hilly if there is snow you will need 4 wheel drive.

Anniversary Weekend

Overall, it was a fantastic trip. I thoroughly enjoyed the property and would definitely stay again. The mid-century modern design, and the actual fireplace in the living room is a unique feature. The living area is spacious, and the bedrooms are well-proportioned. However, I have a few suggestions for future renters. Firstly, it would be great to include a variety of pillows in the bedrooms to cater to different sleeping preferences. The current pillows are primarily designed for back sleepers and are quite flat and hard for side sleepers. Secondly, it would be helpful to provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in the showers, as none are currently available.
