Log cabin nestled beside Chiques Creek in historic Lancaster County
This 3-bedroom home is a great place to get away and relax or as a home base for your tour of historic Lancaster County. It is located minutes from Hershey Park, Lancaster County tourist spots and the Spooky Nook Sports complex (home of the US Women’s Field Hockey team) yet apart from all the traffic on a quiet rural street close to Siegrist Mill covered bridge.
Built on the foundation of an old grist mill, the home provides history and charm. Fall asleep to the sound of the mill race right outside your bedroom window. Spend the day watching birds from the sun porch or just enjoying life while watching the creek and its variety of wildlife from the front porch.

This was our third time staying here since January of this year to attend volleyball tournaments at Spooky Nook. It was exactly what we needed. Three athletes and the moms. Much better than staying in a hotel. Space to spread out, a full kitchen to prepare meals to have instead of eating out the whole weekend, definitely more economical to split with three families than individually each staying at hotels for multiple nights. Host was easy to get a hold of and very responsive.
This location was perfect for me: rural, quiet, and picturesque. Space with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths made this very comfortable. Seemed like we went to stay with owner's grandparents based upon age of appliances, decorations, and mismatched kitchen dishes and utensils. So would have been happier if the home had been updated a bit more and purged of grandma and grandpa's old stuff.
A beautiful home, very comfortable, clean, romantic area. Pitch dark at night but never felt spooked or scared. Just a feeling of relaxations and calmness
We recently stayed at this property for a weekend for a baseball tournament at Spooky Nook. The cabin had a vintage, “grandma and grandpa” vibe — think floral couches and wood paneling, which may feel a little outdated for some, but gave me a homey nostalgic feel. You can clearly see that vibe from the listing. The master bedroom bed was not the most comfortable, but the other double bed was comfy. The master bathroom shower didn’t get hot, but we used the other shower with no issues. For the price, I can’t really complain. It was a great deal for the size and location, which was so close to the tournament — and we didn’t have to get on and off a highway to get to Spooky Nook which was a plus. Hotels nearby charge way more for just one room. This way we had space to spread out with our toddler, ten year old, and my mother who stayed with us for one night who was able to have her own room.If you’re looking for something sleek and contemporary, this isn’t for you, but if you just need space for a budget-friendly price, this cabin could be just what you need. Would definitely consider returning.
Perfect for our volleyball tournament at the Nook!
Simple and comfortable accommodations close to Spooky Nook and more affordable than a hotel room! Having a full kitchen saves money on all the endless eating out you tend to do if you are traveling for these tournament too - a great bonus to going this route! This was our 2nd stay this club volleyball season and we will be there one more time in April too! Can't wait!
If you’re in the area for sports at Spooky Nook I recommend staying here. It’s a ten minute drive to the facility, costs less than a hotel, and has the comforts of a home without being cramped with your family in a hotel room. I’ve rented here twice and while it does just fine when we are at tournaments.
In town with my wife and 3 friends for an archery tournament at Spooky Nook. Very comfy house, had no problems at all. Super convenient and will definitely look into this location next year for the annual tournament. The owner Kathy was very communicative and helpful.
We were staying for a volleyball tournament at Spooky Nook. We are 3 players moms (so 6 guests) and this space was just right! Much better option than hotel rooms for sure. Full kitchen and multiple baths work out so much better when attending tournaments. House is exactly as described. Comfortable and well stocked. Less than 10 minute drive to the Nook. Economical to go this route since you can cook meals rather than eating out and/or at the Nook! We have reserved it already for the 2 other upcoming tournaments we have this club season! Host was lovely and responsive.
We have stayed twice at this property. We enjoyed our stay both times. The house is cozy and clean. My children said it reminded them of staying at grandma and grandpa's house. Thanks for a nice place to stay while we visited family in the area.
This rental was one of the better ones we have stayed in! Cute and cozy, clean and in a beautiful, quiet area that is not too far from town.
We highly suggest this rental!
This was a great place for us to stay. We were there for a family reunion in a nearby town. This was a nice property that was also close to the Amish tourist spots, quiet neighborhood. We so enjoyed and would stay again.
House was great. Beds comfy. Appliances a bit outdated. We could not get the oven to work but stove did. The toaster needs replacing. We ate out mostly but wanted to pass along these two items. The property and location beautiful and covered bridge just a few steps away. We loved it.
Loved the location of the house. We toured Philadelphia, Gettysburg, the Hershey Chocolate Factory and the Amish countryside near Lancaster. This house was very warm and appealing even though we didn’t spend much time inside. Loved the short walk to the covered bridge. Amazing house and area overall; would definitely book this location again.
*Master bathroom toilet didn’t flush well at all, we didn’t use it after one use.
*Main bathroom tub drains extremely slow, water gathers around feet/ankles while showering.
Spent two nights at the house for a volleyball tournament. Very easy to get to Nook. House is very nice near a river which is very soothing. Sun room was a favorite for our stay. Covered bridge is a short walk down the road which was neat to see. I would definitely stay here again.
The country setting was very relaxing. Easy walk up the road to an old covered bridge. We were very disappointed after a long day’s drive to have to make up our own beds before being able to use them. With today’s safety standards, the old plasticware and old aluminum cookware in the kitchen was questionable.
I booked here instead of a hotel for a weekend sports tournament with my daughter. The house had everything we needed for a couple of nights. It was clean, the host was responsive and very accommodating. The location of the house is absolutely beautiful. I will be renting again next year.
