We felt we were immersed in a bit of New England. Very relaxing, loved walking down to the beach. Host was very friendly and helpful. Centrally located, loved the old farmhouse feel.

If you like antiques and primitives this is the place for you. The house has incredible charm and was full of them. The view of the bay is great and there were about 30 wild turkeys in the yard one morning.

The house was exactly as described. If you’re not used to old houses, it may not be for you, but we loved it—the whole experiences exuded charm. The house was comfortable and Chris was a gracious host. The hospitality included fresh-cut flowers and a bag of local coffee on arrival. We came as a couple and plan to return with our kids for a family trip next year.

Absolutely beautiful location and view. A really fun, quirky old house surrounded by beautiful water views and gardens. The kitchen with the 1950's gas range with built in griddle was fabulous!

Quirky old family home located at the entry of the Ducktrap River. Really wonderful host made us feel at home. Nice central location to visit Camden,Belfast, and Rockland. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Host provided coffee from local roaster upon arrival. Beautiful grounds with access to trail to rocky beach at low tide. Located in wildlife corridor, we saw turkey and eagle passing through.

Great location, peaceful and relaxing.

We loved the house which felt like a welcoming family home. There is easy access to the ocean and it is close to Belfast and Camden. There were four of us. Two adults, two teens and we each found our space. The view of the water from the house was wonderful. Chris was a terrific host and very responsive to questions. Would most definitely return.

Ducktrap property

The manager, Chris, was very help, friendly and accommodating. The place fit our needs perfectly. We didn't take advantage of all the property has to offer because of our limited time. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks for everything Chris

Maine Family Reunion

Enjoyed the visit. The view was breathtaking. The owner provided frequent helpful updates. The accommodations were very nice but the decor was more rustic than we had anticipated. Disappointed In full access to cable tv-it would be a great value added for future renters.
Response from VrboOwner on 17 March 2020
Thank you Tony for your response. We apologize. It wasn't until after you and your family left we realized we needed directions for how to use the TV/Cable system. We'll make sure such directions are ready to go, and easily understood, before our next renters arrive. Thank you for leaving our home as tidy as you did.

Enjoyable but unprepared

This is a very old home. One of the bedrooms downstairs must walk through the 1st bedroom to reach the bathroom. 2nd bedroom has no room for a suitcase. had to keep ours in the dining room. The host was very attentive and kind. The family has great pride in this old home.

A Short Walk to the Beach

My husband and I, along with our adult son just stayed here and loved it! It is warm and cozy. Like the description states, it is an old farmhouse, so if you only prefer modern homes, then this might not be for you, but we loved it. The house sits close to the road, but we noticed that a lot of homes do. The traffic, especially big trucks are a little noisy at night, but we got used to it. The owner, Chris, lives on the property and replies immediately to any texts, although we didn't need him at all. The property is very pretty, and there's a big, grassy field that takes you down to the beach, where you'll have fun looking at all the different rocks. Our 2 year old grandson loved it. The location is great, only about 10 minutes from Camden, which has lots of restaurants and shops. We had a wonderful week in the house and would definitely stay here again!

It makes us so happy to have renters appreciate this magic spot, where the river mets the ocean! These were very responsive, appreciative guests who we'd gladly rent to again. We're so pleased their 2 year grandson got to expire the beach.

Unlike any other place we’ve stayed

The views are wonderful, felt like Anne of Green Gables. Fantastic waking up to the view of the river and the wild flowers in the field. The house is old and has its quirks, but we like old houses. The main issue we had was the smell of propane from the antique gas stove. It was quite bad when we arrived so we asked the host to turn the propane off until the next day when the utility company could come and inspect it which meant no hot shower that night after a long day of travel. We seriously considered staying elsewhere but could not find anything in the area with availability for our entire stay. We slept with the windows opened the entire stay so there would be adequate ventilation. The host did install a carbon monoxide/ explosive gas detector the next day so that helped ease our worries a bit but we still did not use the stove or close the windows. Also, be aware there is no key to the home, the doors do not have locks - apparently that’s a common thing in the area, took getting used to.

Great view of mouth of Ducktrap river

Quaint Grandparent's 1920 home with lots of family memories. Well equipped kitchen with older pots and pans and gas stove. The larger bedroom up only has a tub. Shower down has good hot water. Enjoyed walking down to the river by the property through the woods. Chris met us on arrival and lives close by. Had a great stay.
