The property was better than described, peace and quiet and a great place to stay. I would not recommend this place is someone is handicapped or an older adult, stairs are very Steep
This cottage and its location were everything we had hoped for. The cottage is solidly built, comfortable, and very well-equipped. We know this pond well and the site is excellent - privately situated in beautiful wooded grounds just a short walk to the water. At night it is so quiet you can easily hear the loons and barred owls. Liza was responsive, and we felt confident that support was there if we needed it. However, everything was so thoughtfully planned and arranged that no help was necessary. The stairs to the bedrooms upstairs are steep but are not hard to manage if you are careful.
What a gem! As nature lovers, we savored the hours spent drinking in the shoreline of Tilden Pond, especially in the mornings -- the wildlife, the cool, fresh air, the sunlight beaming and the landscape reflecting on the water. We were blessed with great weather, but the enclosed porch would be a great place to relax for hours even on a rainy day. We appreciated knowing that Liza was available for whatever we needed, but we found no reason to call on her. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.
Great quiet cabin on a private lake. Lots to do nearby! The cabin could use some more comfortable furniture in the main room. Would definitely stay here again. Very peaceful location .
My partner and I were visiting Maine for the first time and wanted a peaceful cottage. Excellent location on Tilden Pond with Belfast about 15 minutes away. Caught some fish, kayaked, and explored several towns. We also made it to Acadia and Cadillac Mountain.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and the peaceful atmosphere the property offers. You were wonderful guests, thank you!
A clean, sunny, organized cottage that suited our needs nicely. The canoe and kayaks made water play easy. Sand and rock bottom pond. The fishing and kayaking were outstanding! Sara made sure that the necessary household implements and kitchen ingredients were stocked with all the basics, so we really did not need to stock the cottage. Excellent windows and screens for views and breeze, but we did use A/C units occasionally. The stairs are sturdy, but compact, railings are solid. My partner, a retired EMT had us go down stairs backwards, hands on the railing. We are in our 80s and had no problem. (We changed our clothes downstairs where the laundry is.) Sara has a green thumb, a pretty yard, and good grill. We were well taken care of by Liza, her property manager. Just 20 min away is the quaint, well maintained town of Belfast with Irving and Hannaford on the way. We would be delighted to return.
We stayed at this lovely pond retreat the week of September 7. This cottage met all of our expectations. The whole neighborhood was very quiet and serene. We never saw more than two kayakers on the pond at the same time. And, the day we kayaked, we had the pond all to ourselves (except for the bald eagle harassing the geese). The place is about 20 minutes from Camden as well as from Belfast. The cottage itself was well-stocked with all of the necessary spices, condiments, pans, and dishes. The windows in the kitchen provided a wonderful view of the pond. Several mornings we woke up to see the fog hovering over the pond - it was beautiful! The only negative with the cottage were the stairs - they are not for the faint of heart. They are steep and narrow; however, even though both of us are in our mid-sixties, we learned how to navigate them. And, this was mentioned in the VRBO write-up, so we were well aware of what to expect. All in all, we would definitely stay at this cottage again. I can’t recommend it enough!

If you're looking for quiet solitude that's close to every amenity you could want, this is the property. Sarah the owner is amazing and her Cottage gives you that Lakefront Maine experience.
The lakeside cottage is perfect for a couple or a couple of friends. The lake is fabulous with loons calling and morning mist floating by. House is just right. Kitchen has all the needed items, temperature was easy to use, plenty of towels and wifi. It was a great base camp, sitting by the lake in the morning was a perfect start. Lots of windows and an enclosed porch to watch the sunset in comfort. Close to food shopping and the quaint Belfast harbor town. The steps are steep but after a day or so you get used to them. The owner was quickly responsive to any questions and a pleasure to deal with.

Private lakeside house near seaside town of Belfast
Sara welcomed us for our romantic getaway with a bottle of wine and fresh blueberries. The small house is private, wooded, close to the lake, with an eagle soaring, osprey fishing, hummingbirds, and the evocative call of loons. In the morning we took our coffee to chairs by the lake watching frogs swim among the reeds and myriad of birds and insects in the native shrubs and wildflowers. If we were home in the evening we drank prosecco on cushioned wicker in the screened porch with a view of the water. The house is small but comfy for two or four (no toddlers or anyone who cannot manage narrow, steep stairs). We swam and kayaked on the lake and also went afield to hike, take an evening sail from Rockland, and explore the nearby towns. Nearby Belfast is delightful, not too touristy yet. Take the harbor walk then stop at Nautilus for seafood with a harbor view on the deck, Moonbat Bakery for homemade croissants, the year-round farmer and craft market Saturday morning, toy store, bags made from old sails, and galleries. Chase’s Daily offers good local vegetarian fare. At nearby Northport take the informal tour at Swans Island weaving, then buy a locally woven Maine blanket, shawl or yarn. A few miles from town is Mainely Pottery showcasing 28 potters, then walk around Sears Island beachcombing at low tide and watch cormorants dive underwater to fish. We enjoyed our week so much we plan to book Sara’s place again next year.

Thank you so much, Claire and David. You were both such a delight, and so helpful with suggestions for upcoming guests (Claire and David were my first VRBO guests:)). I loved reading all that you two did during your stay: stellar choices! I look forward to next year ... until then, all the best. Sara
