Our Normandy vacation wouldn't have been the same without staying at this magnificent place.
If you're reading this, you probably already know that this property is actually a working lighthouse But that's only part of the charm.
To start off with, the lighthouse looks exactly (or even better!) than in the pictures, plus it was clean and ready when we arrived. It has all the usual amenities, a well-equipped kitchen and spacious rooms. The social area, right where the light is located, is a pleasure to be in. The views from there are simply stunning.
Lots of parking space, as well.
The property is also perfectly located to visit the D-Day beaches, cemeteries and museums, all of them within a quick drive. Even Mont Saint-Michel is only a 90 minute drive away.
The local town, Port-en-Bessin-Huppain, is charming and usually quiet, with quaint little shops and restaurants. Seafood is particularly fresh and good. There's also a few bakeries and a supermarket. There was also a street market on Sunday morning, which we found very lively and charming.
It's an easy downhill walk from the lighthouse to anywhere in town. The uphill way back to the house is quite steep (18%), but a good workout.
David was easy to reach and communicate with, plus he gave us a few sightseeing and restaurant recommendations.
Thank you and we'll certainly stay here again if we're in the area.
