Charming stay in Port en Bessin, a lively little fishing port all year round.
We are located in the heart of the landing beaches between Arromanches and Colleville (American cemetery), 9 km from Bayeux, 39 km from Caen, 120km from Mont Saint Michel, 272km from Paris.
You only have a small road to cross to get to the beach at low tide.

The apartment between two lighthouses is located on the third floor without elevator facing the sea, the view is breathtaking from all parts of the accommodation, you can observe the comings and goings of boats and tides.
We are located at the foot of shops and restaurants and a small auction where you can buy your fresh fish.
You can park for free in front of the building.
This old three-storey fisherman's building, completely renovated in 2016, is typical of buildings from that time.
We are the penultimate building on the quay in a dead end located just opposite the two lighthouses.
The apartment includes an open SEA VIEW living room on a fitted and equipped SEA VIEW kitchen (fridge, 4-burner induction hob, oven, extractor hood, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, dryer, kettle, toaster, machine coffee machine (coffee pods provided), a coffee maker, a SEA VIEW lounge with corner sofa, 32 '' flat screen, DVD player, HIFI, a SEA VIEW bathroom equipped with wc (2000w hairdryer); one SEA VIEW bedroom with a double bed, a bedroom with two single beds (possibility of joining them together); a private cellar where you can store bikes, fishing rod etc ...

Very cozy well stocked apartment with an excellent property manager. Since the house sits on the seawall on a narrow one way street parking can be tricky to navigate but not impossible. Easy drive back and forth to Bayeux for our DDay tour.

The view was as advertised! Wonderful! Geraldine was efficient, knowledgeable and most helpful. She was quick to help us to secure a dental appointment when my husband had a crown come off while eating those wonderful caramels. Would come back most definitely. Lovely town and all of the locals were very warm and friendly.

Perfect stay in a lovely idyllic location with plenty to do and see. Accomodation exceeded our expectations being tastefully decorated well equipped and spotlessly clean and our hostess Geraldine was very hospitable and could not be more helpful. With access to the Normandy beaches, the Bayaeux Tapestry and plenty of museums there was enough to keep anyone interested. Port en Bessin also has its own unique charm and an unbelievable 26 restaurants to choose from.

What a fantastic appartment with a stunning view. Our hostess Geraldine was very welcoming. This lovely fisherman's cottage has been renovated and furnished in the best possible way. Excellent apartment

We had a fantastic week at this property. Géraldine is very helpful, and solved any problem immediately (viz a broken coffee machine!). The apartment is lovely, spotlessly clean, with a fabulous view of the harbour. The town itself is delightful, a number of different markets across the week, and very good access to all the Normandy landing beaches, Bayeux, Caen - even Mont Saint Michel with an early start. We would definitely stay there again.

Charming loft apartment

The loft apartment was just right for our family of four. The location is wonderful with a great view and parking available. There are plenty of restaurants, some shops and a grocery store in town. If your plan is to visit the D Day sites this is the perfect place to stay. Geraldine was very accommodating and helpful with any of our needs. She met us upon our arrival and departure. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful loft

The loft was perfect for our family of four. The location on the water in town is perfect. Great views over the harbor and close to a lot of restaurants. Geraldine was great. Instant communication and she had a ton of great recommendations for the town, area, and D-Day-related sites when she met us in person for check-in. Welcome gifts were a nice surprise as well. Very convenient to all the D-Day history. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful location! Beautiful flat!

This flat is lovely! We used this as a base for 3 days in Normandy. Great location, the village is delightful.. and dinner is walking distance from the flat. The view as the tide comes in and out is just remarkable. More importantly, Geraldine is a wonderful host. She anticipated our needs, and the flat was stocked with everything we needed and more. Overall, a most excellent experience !

Wonderful stay

The apartment was spotless and very comfortable Geraldine was there to greet us and was always very responsive when we messaged her with a query. The view was spectacular. Restaurants, boulangerie and supermarket a very short walk. The only drawback were the very narrow stairs to get to our top apartment. Overall , we enjoyed our three days in a very beautiful fishing village in a beautiful part of France. Thank you Geraldine

This property was lovely, Geraldine let us access the apartment a few hours early and mat us at the door. She showed us around the apartment and gave us information on Normandy. The apartment was very clean and well stocked she even included a bottle of wine we we arrived. The town is super cute we ate at several of the cute restaurants and didn't have a bad meal anywhere. Just a heads up the stairs can be tricky and tough on older people. We will definitely stay here again

The property had a perfect location at the sea- impressing wiev by night. The little town was charming and the Harbor area surrounding the waterbasin was very interesting The flat was nice but small for 4 elderly men- and unpractical at 3. floor with a technically difficult staircase. There was no terrace and the stunning wiew out at the ocean limited to an ordinary french window. The equipment was satisfactory, and the flat clean and sober The hostess was friendly and warm, and helpful and kept running contact with us! Overall we had a very satisfactory and interesting 4 nights stay in Normandie!!

Geraldine is a super hostess!! Her warmth and sincerity were unique in our experience. Her apartment is twenty meters from the water in a vibrant and adorable fishing village, in the middle of the D Day sites. There are twenty six restaurants, a patisserie, and a grocery store all within walking distance. Upon arrival Geraldine spent as much time as we needed to explain absolutely everything about the apartment and the town. She has thought of everything that is needed in the apartment and it is sparkling clean. We are really happy we stayed in Port-en-Bessein, not only because of Geraldine and her wonderful apartment but also because of its great location.

Fantastic modern rental in a beautiful seaside town

We loved our stay in Port-En-Bessin. Everything in this apartment is just as clean and adorable as the listing! The amenities are generous, and included lots of little extras, like snacks, travel guides, toys and activities for children, movies, and supplies to use all of the appliances. The waterfront view is fantastic...one of the best in town! The rental does have a unique handheld shower. There is no wall mount option. It was not a problem for us, at all. But, it might not be right for everybody. Look at the property photos closely, to make sure that the bathing options will work for you!

Beautiful recently decorated apartment

Geraldine was a very friendly and attentive host, and very helpful. Because we were travelling with my father, we upgraded to her larger apartment which she had recently redocorated to a high standard. It was fitted out with everything we needed for a week's self-catering holiday, with microwave, oven, hob, washing machine, pots, pans etc. The apartments are located right on the harbour front in Port-en-Bessin, which is an attractive village still with an operational fishing fleet. There is plenty of parking on the street outside. The village has 23 restaurants. Our apartment had a view right over the harbour mouth. It is perfectly located for a holiday in this part of Normandy (for the history nuts, the port sits right in between Omaha and Gold landing beaches and most of the D-Day sites and museums you would want to visit are a short drive away). Bayeux is about 15 minutes drive and Mt St Michel about 2 hours drive away.

Great stay - lovely accommodations and locale

We wanted to find a “home base” for a four night stay in Normandy to see the WW2 sites as we like to cook and relax after a long day out. This place and location fit the bill perfectly. Loved all of the windows and the view looking out into the small harbor. It was very relaxing. Everything that you need for a functional kitchen is there, very well equipped. The place felt welcoming. The town is charming - not overly crowded by tourists, or that’s how it felt to us. We liked that it was a commercial fishing town. Make sure to explore Port en Bessin and the beach area near the Vauban tower and the memorial to the British commando unit up on the hillside. There were some challenges to the place that one should consider: the staircase up to the flat is a spiral one and narrow. If you are tall, you need to be mindful of the loft ceilings. There’s no overhead shower (just a hand held spray) and no air conditioning. It was quite hot during our stay in France, not normal for sure. The hosts were great - greeted us at check in and were responsive to questions about services around town. Highly recommended. Enjoy your stay.

Wonderful Gite on the English Channel!

This was an ideal property for our family of 4. We visited Port-En-Bessin to see this particular area and to travel to other attractions. The gite is located on a very quiet quai with parking and was a very easy walk to many restaurants and cafes, small grocery stores, a bakery and many local specialty shops. The gite itself is very well equipped; with everything you would need to cook, or relax for an evening in. Geraldine was an excellent and welcoming host and provided us with ideas for "must see" places , a lovely welcome basket. as well as being extremely understanding when our arrival experienced some hiccups. We were able to visit Bayeux (the tapestry and Cathedral are beautiful, eat at the little sandwich shop outside of the museum), many of the landing beaches (Juno has a very interactive Museum), Arromanches, Saint Mere Eglise (very good Airborne Museum), Monte-Saint-Michel (arrive very early and it is quiet and beautiful), and Dinan. If you visit a Chateau, remember that they are still inhabited and there fore have very limited hours. Driving in the area is easy with the aid of a GPS or Nav system. I would highly recommend this lovely little property and hope to visit again someday!

Fabulous apartment even more fabulous hostess!!!

I have to start this review with what an amazing hostess Geraldine is. She goes above and beyond what is required to be a vacation home manager. She becomes a friend. No question goes without a prompt answer and solution. We 4 adults spent 6 days in her apartment and had a few personal issues one of which included needing medical attention and she made sure everything was handled until the end. Her apartment is spectacular! The view is more amazing in person than any of the pictures you see and the apartment itself is decorated in designer fashion to enhance it's location. The little town of Port-En-Bessin is picturesque and has so many little shops and restaurants. Our absolute favorite restaurant Vauban was just around the corner and the little grocery store Proxi just down the road which is run by a husband and wife that also are very helpful. One of the things we learned the hard way is you do need a vehicle or be ready to pay quite a bit for transportation but even with that, Geraldine set us up with a driver that was fantastic and very prompt to our every transportation need. The apartment is on the top floor, 45 stairs, with the most amazing view. No elevator so make sure you are ready to carry up luggage and climb the stairs. It didn't bother us at all as it was part of the charm of the apartment. There is one bathroom with a tub and a shower hose, no stand up shower. The beds are extremely comfortable and listening to the waves outside the window at night just helps put you to sleep. If I had the ability to give Geraldine and her apartment a 10 stars review I would do that. We just loved every minute we were there and hated to leave but we will hopefully return one day and stay even longer. Thank you again Geraldine for the most memorable 60th birthday trip!
