La Maison sur le Quai is an authentic fisherman's house, located on the seafront in Port-en-Bessin, Normandy, for 4 people. At the heart of the landing beaches, 10 km from Arromanches, Omaha Beach and Bayeux, a town rich in history, in a fishing port and marina.

At La Maison sur le Quai, guests can live with the rhythm of the tides and the cry of seagulls. Through the windows or on the terrace and even your bed and bath, you can contemplate the comings and goings of fishing boats going out to sea with the high tide. At low tide, you can stroll on the sand in the outer harbour, just in front of the house.

Sehr schöner Urlaub

Wohnung ist sehr schön hergerichtet, alles funktioniert und es ist auch wirklich alles da was man brauchen könnte, sogar eine Salatschleuder 😁. Terrasse toll mit super Ausblick, sehr ruhig gelegen und direkt am Hafen. Natürlich hat es auch geholfen, dass wir durchgängig tolles Wetter hatten. Wir kommen wieder!

Un bon bol d’air venant de la mer

Dépaysement total pour ce séjour dans cette charmante maison de pêcheurs. La décoration, l’installation et la situation était parfaite et nous avons pu profiter de la vue parfaite sur la mer et ses marées basses et haute. Malgré l’air frais pour la saison le soleil était au rendez-vous et nous avons pu profiter de la terrasse. Les enfants sont ravis et les parents aussi. Merci à nos hôtesses pour leur accueil et leur goût de la décoration.

Haven by the Sea

This was quite honestly one of my family's favourite places to stay of all time! The house was beautiful - wonderful spaces, beautifully decorated, everything we needed and more! The location was second to none and we wish we had booked for longer. Laurence was kind and helpful and available if we needed her. There are not many places we would return to, but this is certainly one! Most highly recommended!

Une semaine fin février début mars où le soleil a régné en maître éclairant l'intérieur de cette maison décorée avec beaucoup de goût, parfaitement équipée, et bénéficiant d'une vue imprenable sur l'entrée du port et l'arrivée des bateaux chargés de coquilles Saint Jacques. La halle aux poissons est à deux pas avec huîtres, poissons et bien sûr Saint Jacques à des prix imbattables ( surtout si vous habitez Paris ) . Laurence sait accueillir et nous indiquer les bons restaurants de Port en Bessin mais également de Bayeux. Bref, de merveilleux moments à renouveler

Une semaine fin février où le soleil généreux à éclairé l'intérieur de cette maison décorée avec beaucoup de goût et parfaitement équipée. La vue imprenable sur l'entrée du port et l'arrivée des bateaux chargés de coquilles Saint Jacques est un régal pour les yeux et la proximité immédiate de la halle aux poissons permet d'apprécier huîtres, Saint Jacques et poissons à des prix imbattables. Laurence sait accueillir et nous conseiller qu'il s'agisse de lieux à visiter ou de bons restaurants à Port en Bessin ou Bayeux. Bref un agréable séjour qu'il conviendra de renouveler

Super séjour!

La maison de pêcheur est une vraie bulle de douceur sur le port! La décoration de très bon goût, les vues imprenables, y compris depuis la baignoire....vous n'avez qu'a sortir et faire deux pas pour acheter du poisson frais tous les matins. Bref, nous avons adoré et nous reviendrons avec plaisir.

Un vrai coup de coeur !

Que du bonheur ! Points forts : - Ancienne maison de pêcheur très confortable décorée avec beaucoup de goût où tout est prévu pour vous rendre le séjour reposant et agréable (cuisine super bien équipée, wifi, salle de bains pour chaque chambre, etc...) - L'état de propreté impeccable - L'accueil chaleureux de Laurence qui a su nous arranger dans la préparation de notre séjour à la dernière minute - L'emplacement direct sur le port et cette vue magnifique qui s'invite à chaque étage de la maison, c'est merveilleux - Le charme du port, la proximité de la halle aux poissons et des petits commerces - Les services inclus dans le prix : les lits faits, le linge de toilette fourni et le ménage en fin de séjour Je recommande très fortement, ce séjour a été pour nous une véritable bouffée d'oxygène dans notre quotidien de citadins. Toute la famille est repartie heureuse et enchantée.

Besser geht es nicht!

Direkt am Hafen, der Blick vom Bett auf die Hafenausfahrt, ein perfekt ausgestattetes Ferienhaus, die charmanteste Vermieterin die man sich vorstellen kann. Eigentlich dürfte man gar keine solche Bewertung abgeben, sonst ist es im nächsten Jahr schon ausgebucht.

Beautiful little house in a superb location

If anything, the house is better than the photos on the website, spotlessly clean, and is probably the best equipped holiday rental we have ever stayed in. The location is great with fantastic views over the harbour, and weather permitting there are superb sunsets to enjoy from the terrace. The owner is charming and was a great source of recommendations of places to visit, and local restaurants of which our favourite was Le Vauban where we ate three times. Port en Bessin is a great base from which to explore the area and to visit WW2 museums and memorials. It's a very short drive into Bayeux, and an easy drive into Caen, Falaise, and the Suisse Normande. I would highly recommend this property.

Beaucoup de charme pour cette maison que nous avons pris plaisir à retrouver pour la 2ème année consécutive ! Rien à redire, rien ne manque (très bon équipement), propriétaire très à l'écoute et qui livre avec plaisir ses bonnes adresses. La pêche à marée basse est une activité idéale pour les enfants. Absolutely Perfect!

La Maison sur la Quai exceeded our high expectations. It is even better than the pictures on the website. Dealing with Laurence was a pleasure both before and during our stay. The house is exceedingly well-equipped with everything a visitor could need and all of a very high quality. It feels like a real home, not like a rental property. We were lucky to have a week of wonderful weather and so were able to enjoy the terrace almost every day. When it was a little too cool for comfort, we enjoyed the view of the harbor from the "library." We loved the town of Port-en-Bessin and so did Post-Impressionist artists like Seurat and Signac. It is an authentic fishing village with real people living in it and not overwhelmed by tourists. The Sunday market is great and there are bakeries and small supermarkets steps from the door as well as a specialty food market. And then, of course, there is the fish market across the street. The location is absolutely superb for visiting the D-Day beaches, Bayeux, and Honfleur. The house is ideal for a couple. During our week in Basse Normandie we came across numerous other places to stay, but none came close to Port-en-Bessin and our little fisherman's cottage.

Ein sehr aussergewöhnliches Ferienhaus

Wir haben zum zweiten Mal unseren Sommerurlaub in La Maison sur le Quai verbracht und waren nach wie vor begeistert. Das liebevoll renovierte ehemalige Fischerhaus hat eine tolle Lage, ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, und die Küche ist besser ausgestattet als in den meisten Ferienwohnungen oder Häusern. Port-en-Bessin ist ein schöner und authentischer Urlaubsort für Paare und Familien. Last but not least, die Vermieterin ist sehr freundlich und sympathisch, und dabei gleichzeitig sehr aufmerksam und professionell im Umgang mit ihren Gästen.

Superb

I rented three cottages along the Quai Letourneur for a family vacation to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. My in-laws stayed in this cottage and had a fantastic week. The cottage is quaint, beautiful and authentically restored and the location and view from the cottage is exceptional. Laurence, the owner, was professional, welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. Port en Bessin was our favourite location in France, exceeding Paris, Nice, the Loire and Provence, in our opinion, as the best location. The village is located 10km from Bayeux, one of our favourite towns, and Normandy is a gourmet's heaven. Do not miss the Sunday markets in Port en Bessin, they were one of the best we experienced in France. Thank you Laurence for the wonderful week for ensuring that and my in-laws had a great time - and like all in-laws they are not easy to please :-)

Charming and beautiful!

This small town is absolutely perfect. Well maintained with a range of lovely shops and wonderful restaurants and this wonderful cottage is the perfect home base from which to explore. It is tiny but extremely well appointed. Very nice appliances, dishes, and other accoutrements. We cooked in several nights and often breakfasted on fresh pastries from the bakery literally around the corner. Fresh fish (we had wonderful scallops) is available across the street at the Fish Hall. The harbor views and the sounds of the sea birds lull you to sleep. Tasteful decor and very comfortable beds. The top floor tub is narrow, but the sea view from the tub makes up for it! Only one narrow unlit mirror in the top floor bedroom too, so bring a mirror of your own if you depend on one. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. (Our coffee pot malfunctioned and she had a new one here that night! With an offer of free coffee on her at a local cafe if we needed before her return!). We would love to return here some day. It was the perfect base for D-Day touring, Honfleur, and Bayeux, and so much more. There are narrow circular stairs for the three floors, and steep stairs to the wonderful terrace and laundry room, so not for the less nimble!

Une perle rare en Normandie

Nous venons de passer d'inoubliables vacances à la Maison sur le Quai, avec nos deux enfants de 2 et 5 ans. Cette maison de pêcheur est une véritable merveille: un emplacement idéal et une vue incomparable dont on bénéficie notamment sur la très agréable terrasse. Nous avons été séduits par le charme et l'authenticité de cette maison parfaitement restaurée, et mise en valeur par une décoration collant parfaitement à l'esprit du lieu, jusque dans le moindre detail. La maison est particulièrement bien équipée côté cuisine, avec de l'électroménager de qualité ainsi que de la vaisselle qui ne se limitent pas à l'essentiel, comme dans trop de locations vacances "standard". Le centre-ville est à 1 minute à pied, avec toute l'animation d'une station balnéaire familiale en haute saison mais aussi la vie propre au port de pêche qu'est Port en Bessin et qui ajoute à son charme et son intérêt. A marée basse, les enfants on fait des châteaux de sable directement au pied de la maison, et nous avons surtout beaucoup profité de la magnifique plage de Omaha Beach à 10 minutes en voiture. Notre verdict: un lieu exceptionnel, que nous avons déjà réservé pour l'été prochain!

Wunderschönes Fischerhaus mit Seele

Wir haben 2 Wochen in dem wunderschönen Fischerhaus "Maison sur le Quai" verbracht. Das Haus ist bis ins letzte Detail mit sehr viel Geschmack und Liebe eingerichtet. Die Küche ist mit überdurchschnittlich viel Geschirr, Töpfen und Geräten ausgestattet. Es gab Handtücher in Hülle und Fülle. Die Betten waren hervorragend und die Schlafqualität dementsprechend hoch. Die Terasse ist wunderschön und der Ausblick aufs Meer zur jeder Tageszeit spannend. Madame Laurence hat uns sehr nett betreut, spricht sehr gut englisch und hat uns viele Tipps und Hilfestellungen gegeben und wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Wir haben uns selten so gut erholt, wie in diesem tollen Haus mit Seele am Meer. Der Ort war auch im August nicht überlaufen und wirkt noch sehr ursprünglich. Die Fischhalle schräg gegenüber ließ keine Wünsche offen. Wir können dieses Haus in jeder Hinsicht weiterempfehlen. Isabel mit Familie

Si le paradis existe, il est ici ...

Ce fut nos premières vacances en Normandie. Dès notre arrivée, nous avons été époustouflés par le paysage s'ouvrant sous nos yeux depuis toutes les pièces du gîte d'autant plus que Port-en-Bessin n'est pas un port "artificiel" pour touristes. De plus, nous avons été immédiatement accueillis par Laurence avec chaleur, sympathie et simplicité. Enfin, rien ne manque dans ce gîte où tout a été conçu et pensé avec goût et authenticité, y compris pour les très jeunes enfants. Tous les ans, nous passons nos vacances en gîtes dits "de charme" où la décoration, les équipements, la qualité des matériaux et l'environnement sont exceptionnels. Et bien cette année, avec le gîte "La maison sur le quai", la barre a été mise très haut (;-))). Bref, nous recommandons ce gîte aux amoureux de la mer, des ambiances des vrais et authentiques villages de pêcheurs (le port et le marché aux poissons devant le gîte), aux passionnés d'histoire médiévale et contemporaine (entre Bayeux et les plages du débarquement), de la gastronomie normande (nous avons eu le coup de foudre pour le "Bistrot d'à côté" situé à 20 mètres du gîte) et des jardins magnifiques (Castillon et Cambremer par exemple ...).

Super location; tous-ce-qu'on desire!

La Maison sur le Quai est un endroit qui nous a beaucoup plus et especialement la terrasse etaient l'endroit préféré pour nos enfants. Ils aiment oberserver les entrées et sorties des bateaux et le marée basse et marée haute. Laurence est une person tres gentil et agreable qui nous a donné des bons conseils. La maison de pêcheur a etait refait tres joliment jusqu'au petit detail. Tout etait tres propre, bien entretenue et tres bien equiper - en tous un endroit a quel on aime revenir. Bien que c'est proche du centre et pres des magasin et du marché c'est quand meme calme. Je conseilerais cette maison a tout le monde!
