Welcome to Hale Lula o' Nai'a – "House of the Dolphins" – your oceanfront retreat on scenic Alii Drive!
Ideally situated just north of Kahalu'u Beach Park in Kailua-Kona, this prime location offers easy access to surfing, paddle boarding, and snorkeling.

Designed for comfort and privacy, the home features two oceanfront suites—each with a king-size bed—positioned at opposite ends of the house.

You'll be close to beautiful beaches, local shopping, a movie theater, and a nearby golf course. Tastefully furnished with coastal island flair, the home is meticulously maintained and offers breathtaking 180-degree ocean views.

The sunny Kona Coast is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and rich Hawaiian history. Visit cherished landmarks like Hulihe‘e Palace, Moku‘aikaua Church, and Ahu‘ena Heiau—just 8 miles south of the Kona International Airport.
Kona is a world-class destination for deep-sea fishing, home to the annual International Billfish Tournament in August and the legendary IRONMAN World Championship in October. The cooler upland slopes are famous for producing the region’s celebrated Kona coffee.
From snorkeling, scuba diving, and paddling to spotting spinner dolphins and sea turtles along the shore, daily adventures abound. Or simply relax with a cocktail or meal along Ali‘i Drive as boats glide by.

Best location and oceanfront in Kona

We highly recommend this property. The back porch and the rocking chairs are truly relaxing. We spent hours watching the surfers and enjoying the breeze. We can’t wait to come back.

This house is near perfect! The location made it so easy to explore the island! The view from the back porch can take your breath away as the sun sets. We were so lucky to have found this house!

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed in four houses along this stretch of coast. We all felt this was the most comfy house! Needs a few upgrades (dryer required pliers to operate and dishwasher was hard to get started as well). Beds, furniture, especially the porch were homey! We were bummed the hammock shown in the pictures was not there anymore.

One in a million home!

I am a frequent VRBO renter and I have to say that I'be never stayed in a home quite like this one. It's proximity to the ocean is unbelievable; to be any closer to the ocean, you would have to be in the water! The house is wonderfully appointed, from linens to dishes. My husband and I lacked for nothing. We especially appreciated that Krista was there to let us in to the home even though we arrived after 10 pm on a Sunday night! If anyone is a light sleeper, be aware that between the noise of the ever crashing waves and the traffic on Ali'i drive, sleeping can be a bit dicey! But the overall beauty of the setting certainly compensates for this minor inconvenience. We would stay here again in a New York minute.

A little piece of heaven! A fabulous vacation rental located on oceanfront.

If I had to describe this vacation rental in one sentence, I would say, “It has a stunning location, pride in ownership and excellent property management!” From the moment we met Krista G. and walked into this rental, we were mesmerized by the upscale furnishings, the recently remodeled kitchen and bathrooms, the fabulous view of the ocean from every room of the house except the bathrooms, and the Lanai that is breathtaking! The covered Lanai is large: it extends from the entry to the end of the living room and has a large dining table and four rocking chairs. Just 30 feet from the ocean, there are waves crashing on the rocks below, bringing you an endless view of life on the sea. Birds galore sing and play with a bird feeder you can fill each day if you choose, which we did! We did a lot of things on the island but the Lanai was our favorite and most relaxing place for sure! (You just feel the stress melt away!) Krista G. and her team are exemplary! Before our trip she helped us with suggestions of activities to do during our stay. It allowed us the opportunity to make reservations ahead of time. Upon our arrival, she greeted us at the rental and explained everything we needed to know and surprised us with a bowl of delicious fruit and goodies with a bottle of wine. Karen from the office checked on us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed, and Kyle helped us when the security gate needed adjustment. They are a professional team and are very much appreciated. We highly recommend this vacation rental for anyone who wants privacy, an upscale house, close to the ocean and a place to kick back and relax! Cherie B.

Relaxing beach house

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful beach house. We spent a lot of time on the back covered porch enjoying the ocean and watching all the surfers, swimmers and boats. The house was conveniently located to lots of activities but far enough away that it was very peaceful.

Magical Home

Sunrise to sunset this home is spectacular! Going to bed and waking up that close to the ocean was a dream. It's close to the road, but the ocean is louder than any passing cars. The walk to the nearby beach park couldn't have been easier. And the KITCHEN, wow, the best stocked kitchen we've ever had. A truly special place.

Spent 10 days at this house, it was exactly as described. Clear communication before I arrived, easy to check-in, and clean well-maintained property. The back deck is absolutely wonderful and we enjoyed the sunsets each evening. Definitely would stay here again, very much worth it!

A Spectacular Property!

This is an incredible property. It is perfect for two couples. The two bedrooms are on the opposite side of the house allowing for privacy and comfort. We appreciated the kitchen, it is well stocked. We barbecued/cooked a few meals and found everything we needed. All appliances were in good working order except for the TVs. They had been fried by an electrical surge caused by a nearby accident. Not a big issue for us, we don’t usually watch much TV. But one of our friends was recovering from a surgery and needed some down time. He had some problems with the bedroom TV. I’m sure the owners will address the issue soon. We spent the majority of our time on the covered deck in the rocking chairs. We watched the waves and surfers. We could also see lots of fish in the waves. That was incredibly relaxing. The sunsets were spectacular. The pride of ownership shows in everything in this house. I felt lucky that the owners would share this beautiful property. We will definitely be back and hope this property is available!!!

Perfect getaway for solo trip!

Perfect for solo travelers that don't want to deal with a whole mess of people in a hotel. Loved waking up to the sound of crashing waves and planning my day on the lanai with a cup of coffee. Snorkel and surf is just a few steps away at Kahului Bay. I was greeted by the property manager Adriana who made sure I found my around the house. Looking forward to coming back!!

Magic on the Ocean!

The view at Hale Lula o’ Nai’a is absolutely breathtaking! We were mesmerized by the sunsets, surfers, and whales. If you stay here, don’t bother with a whale watching trip; we saw exactly zero whales on our boat trip, but spotted lots of them from the lanai—along with dolphins and fish. We loved hanging out in the rocking chairs to drink our morning coffee, or to gaze at the gorgeous sunsets. The configuration of the house, with a bedroom and bath at either end, offers lots of privacy for guests. The living area is comfortable, and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking. We enjoyed grilling on the gas barbecue. Beach gear is also provided: towels, chairs, umbrella. The owners/managers have thought of everything! The location of the home is convenient as well. You’re close to everything you need, but far enough away from downtown Kona to avoid the most crowded areas. There is a grocery store, drug store, and restaurants less than two miles away. The only downside is that traffic can be loud at busy times, but the location and view make it worth ignoring. If you’re sensitive to noise / a light sleeper, bring some ear plugs and you’ll be fine. The property managers are welcoming, friendly, and responsive! Naomi graciously accommodated us when our flight was changed. And Gabrielle was a helpful resource for local markets, restaurants, and an excellent bakery. In short, we would stay here again in a heartbeat! It’s a beautiful house and the view is magical!!

Fabulous view!

We really enjoyed our stay with million dollar view. The house was nice and cozy, it will not disappoint. Our only gripe will be that we had ants in the kitchen and grub like worm in the foyer and living room area daily. Other than that, we will definitely stay here again and again. The sound of crushing waves and beautiful sunset, who cares about bugs!! It is a beautiful home with lots of character. I highly recommend this beautiful home for your next vacation!! Enjoy!!

A lovely property!

We've stayed at the ocean before, but never this close! We'd love to return here! Pros: Gabrielle (manager) and Henry (grounds) were the absolute best, friendly and helpful. One of the best stocked kitchens ever. They even had the best pineapple slicer ever designed! We loved the photos in the drawers to help us remember where we found items. Everything was clean and comfortable, with treats waiting for us on the dining table. Nice! They even had binoculars for us to use, which was great! The views were beautiful! We've never seen surfers this close before. We saw yellow tangs, whales, crabs, geckos, impressive waves, and gorgeous sunsets. We loved the rockers on the lanai! We slept so well hearing the sound of the waves. A/C in bedrooms, fan in living room that worked great! Cons: The bedroom TV wasn't working (only one bedroom had a TV), but there's a large one in the living room. This property is on a busy road, but with the sound of the waves, we didn't even notice it. There was a high surf warning while we were there, so the protective screens across the lanai and bedroom sliders were up most of the time. So that is a possibility, depending on the weather. But we still had a great view on both sides. Henry removed them as soon as it was safe. Breathtaking views! A big thank you to the owners for sharing their bit of paradise with us!!! Mahalo!

Great view with crashing surf. We saw whales jumping most afternoons

Well laid out house with great amenities. The view is beautiful and the kitchen well stocked. It’s important to note that each bedroom has a private ac but no ac in the common areas. There are lots of breezes and we were not hot but it can get a bit humid .

Excellent Waterfront stay

Everthing about this unit, the process, the lanai, the stocked kitchen, the thoughtfulness of everything there, and the management was perfect. The road noise is hard to deal with, but you do have the ocean to cancel it out. The road noise started at 6 AM and woke me up every day. The property managers can’t manage this, but there is a really loud dog across the street. However, I would still go back and stay there again because it’s so beautiful and the property has everything you could think of. Additionally, we saw whales off of our deck every day. Last, we could walk to two different beautiful beaches.

Fantastic Oceanfront

We absolutely loved this home. Unreal location - feels like the ocean is all yours. Super convenient to stores, restaurants, etc., but also a great launching spot for off-grid adventures. It is right on Ali'i Drive, as others have noted, and at times you will hear traffic; but the wall provides decent privacy and most of the time any road noise is canceled out by the sounds of the surf. Management was awesome to deal with. Really a great spot and we will happily return.
