About this property

STUNNING LOCATION FOR A RELAXED GETAWAY

Hebe House is a quaint three-bedroom holiday house at Manaroa, Clova Bay, deep in the middle of the Pelorus Sound. It’s the ideal getaway home for six, only 30 metres from the ​water and with breathtaking sea and mountain views. Hebe is a perfect retreat for those who enjoy fishing, swimming, walking, and relaxing.

The home is fully self-contained, clean, and comfortable and features a retro theme. All beds are made up, with fresh linen provided for every stay. Internet, Wi-Fi calling, and Digital TV are available. The shore and bays have mobile data reception, but not the house itself.

The windy and slow scenic drive from Havelock takes approximately 2 hours, while from Blenheim it takes about 2.5 hours. There are no shops in the area. The Hub Café is a wonderful midway stop, as is Portage Resort which offers a bar and restaurant.

From Havelock, boats and water taxis take about 50 to 70 minutes to reach Clova Bay. From Clova Bay, it takes a 25- to 40-minute boat ride to the outer Pelorus Reach coast and Cook Strait for excellent diving and fishing.

A boat launching jetty is located 200 metres down the road. Shore fishing is excellent, but kayak or boat fishing is even better! Signature catches include snapper, gurnard, blue cod (in season), kingfish, and more. (Jetty bait fishing – excellent for kids.)

Mooring: There is one registered mooring shared among three homes. Please enquire about availability when booking. Important: Always secure your boat to the mooring rope and not the thin buoy rope. For jetty pickups, call 027 579 8444 when leaving Havelock and again when you are 10 minutes away from Clova Bay.

From Clova Bay: Restaurants and Cafés: Ponga Cove (drive), The Portage Resort (drive ), TeRawa Resort (boat).

 All rubbish must be taken out; there is a free skip at Portage and another on this side of Linkwater.

Stunning Clova Bay Hideaway

What an amazing location to get away from the hustle and bustle and simply relax. Walks along the beach, fishing in the bay where the fish are plentiful and tasted very nice for dinner. I would recommend this location for anyone.

Perfection

This is the second time we have stayed at Manaroa but the first at Hebe House, What a perfect location. Nothing but views of Clova Bay. I just loved the indoors/ outdoor flow of the bi-fold doors. Even on a grey old day you still felt connected to the bay. Comfy, well equipped and oh so relaxing. Wifi good enough for teenager not to feel disconnected. Enjoyed SUPing, fishing and kayaking. Really appreciated Marion's load of an extra paddle when we lost ours.

Perfect getaway

Absolutely brilliant, stunning location, very well kept property which has everything you need. Steve and Marion were both a great help with loading and giving us local knowledge. Will definitely be back again

Peace and quiet

Lovely position with great views. Super clear water to swim in and a spacious kitchen for cooking. Good shade for those hot summer days and excellent facilities.

Very enjoyable stay, property was immaculate and has everything you need. Great barbecue and fish filleting area we we are glad to report we put to good use! Fabulous location for a relaxing vacation

Clean and comfortable cottage with stunning views. Nice quiet location filled with birdsong and natural beauty. Right on the sound so swimming and fishing are right on the doorstep, and lovely walks on the shore or up the hills. For an extra treat, be sure to pick up a copy of Marion Day's book "Passion". We truly enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. We will definitely try to return again someday.

Great bach in a remote bay.

Clean, well equipped and comfortable. Great scenery. Communication with the owner is via bookabach messaging rather than standard email. Internet coverage in the Sounds is very patchy so need to get everything sorted before your travels.

Thank you for your review. Am sorry you found our internet coverage to be patchy as it has always been perfect for other users. Live streaming could be a problem, as mentioned in the 'notes' folder, but apart from that I cannot think why this was so. Hope you had a great stay anyway.

Lovely Remote Sounds spot

We loved the old Sounds Farm feel of the place, both the house and location . Our six year olds loved fishing from the wharf and looking for crabs on the mudflats. Very tidy property
