Laid-back lake vibes! Blue tones reflect the calm of Lake Huron just around the corner and every corner of the cottage feels like it’s inviting you to stay a little longer. When you walk through the gate, you’ll instantly feel that laid-back lake vibe. Whether you’re planning a family escape or a friend-filled weekend, you’ll find room for everyone — and a few surprises along the way.
INSIDE:
Carruthers Cottage layout gives you just a little more room to spread out. With two full bathrooms, getting ready is a breeze, no waiting around. The space sleeps up to 8 comfortably, making it ideal for bigger families or friend groups.
Inside, you’ll find that lake-themed style carried through every room, calming blues, cozy textures, and all the touches that make you feel instantly at home. The living area invites you to kick back in front of the Smart TV, while the dining space is perfect for board games or shared meals. The kitchen is stocked and ready whether you’re making pancakes or pasta.
My favorite feature? The private “honeymoon deck” just off the primary bedroom, it’s the perfect little hideaway for morning coffee or an evening wind-down.

⚓ The Story Behind the Name: SS James Carruthers
Carruthers Cottage is named in honor of the SS James Carruthers, a Canadian Great Lakes freighter built in 1913. Tragically, during the infamous "White Hurricane" of November 1913, the Carruthers sank in Lake Huron with all 22 crew members aboard. Despite extensive searches, the wreck has never been located, making it one of the Great Lakes' enduring maritime mysteries. Debris and bodies washed ashore near Point Clark, linking the area to this poignant chapter in nautical history
EXPLORE POINT CLARK
There's a slice of heaven tucked away on the shores of Lake Huron. Not many know about it but those that do simply love it. Tiny roads meander through the woods and pass family cottages that are generations old. The landscape blends into Lake Huron and the coast of silky sand plays host to the laughter of children and sandcastles. The historical lighthouse is newly restored and is the shiny diamond on Point Clark. And you can see it from your beach!

ABOUT YOUR HOST
I'm Jennifer, I started CottageStays to share my own home with like-minded travelers who appreciate escaping to life at a slower pace. I've never forgotten how lucky I am to call Lake Huron home. Now more than ever, everyone is in need of the kind of peace and quiet that escaping to the lake can bring. It's my absolute privilege to be the one to provide families and friends a special place to gather and create memories while exploring an area so near and dear to me.
