Great location, clean, cozy. We loved our stay here and the owners were so kind and helpful. Communication was easy and questions were answered promptly. Definitely would stay again!
My family of 7 enjoyed this property. Location was great, was just a seen in the pictures and the property owners were great to communicate with. Would stay here again.
Our stay was great, the hosts were wonderful! The house was so cute and very clean. We truly enjoyed our stay and will book here again on our next trip.
We prefer home settings as opposed to hotel stays. This was a great location without hustle and bustle while also being in relatively close proximity to various attractions. This was a cozy cabin-like home and all enjoyed their stay! We had 6 adults and a 14th month old so accommodated all of us nicely!!Host was very timely with communication! Highly recommend and would stay again!
My family stayed here (2 adults, 2 kids) for a few days to explore the black hills. We were really happy with the house. It was a perfect size for us, super clean, and a good location for the places we wanted to go. We would absolutely stay here again.
This is the second time we stayed here and would certainly stay again and recommend to all. Clean, nice amenities, including washer/dryer, garage, grilll and fire pit and the beds were comfortable! A little glitch when we were waiting for our checkin code, but resolved VERY quickly, did not and would not hinder another stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed this roomy cabin! Space for so many people - great for families and bigger groups. Well-stocked kitchen and adorably decorated. Conveniently close to the town of Custer, but far enough away to be a more quiet, private setting. We will be back!
Great place with everything as described. This is a nice quiet location and the owner is very attentive to making sure everything is going okay. We will be back next year.

Richard and family were fantastic guests treating the property with great care. Will definitely want to have them back.
We enjoyed our stay here so much that we changed our ideal vacation days next year to accommodate what they have open. Great communication, clean, stocked with the basics and more! Outdoor patio with a gas fire pit for the evening was so relaxing. Truly a home away from home for us!
We have been going to the Black Hills for the last 30 years and really enjoy the area. Our family wanted to see the Buffalo Round up, Needles Highway, Wildlife Loop, and Mt. Rushmore. We also visited the various shops that featured local artists. The house we stayed at was wonderful. It was very clean and well supplied.
The property was very clean and ready to move into. We thoroughly enjoyed the scenic view of the pine covered hills across from the property and spent a lot of time relaxing and enjoying the horses that grazed there. The Mickelson Trail is within feet from the home and provides great opportunities for hiking or riding a bike.My family found it relaxing and rejuvenating !The owner provided thorough directions and answered all of our questions.I would highly recommend this as a VRBO rental !
Very cute house. Ideal location to setup base camp and explore the Black Hills. Can’t beat the view off the back porch!! Drinking a cup of coffee and watching the Deer play across the meadow. What a wonderful home. Definitely recommend staying here. We will be back!
We had three older couples, taking our electric bikes for a week of biking and enjoying the beautiful area. This was a wonderful home access to the trail just out the backyard. It was very private and cozy but yet close to town and amenities. We have everything we need home is beautifully decorated and this was probably one of the most responsive host we've ever had. We were returning her at the recommendation of one of the members of our group and we will come back again.
Was further out of town than we thought but really, 5 miles is not much. Great place for us all to hang out, chat, good sized table to gather around. S'mores on the gas fireplace (no gathering of wood!) Mickelson Trail out the back yard to walk/run in any direction. Good relaxing time!
This home is great. The owners have anticipated every need a guest might have and then have gone above and beyond to meet those needs. Items in the kitchen as well as linens, towels, etc. throughout the house are easily found in labeled cupboards and drawers. Our group of 4 bicyclists riding the Mickelson Trail found the location of the house (right on the trail) as well as the huge garage for bike storage a major perk. And finally, the hosts were incredibly accommodating and responsive to our correspondences prior to our arrival. We would stay here again for sure.
This was our second time renting tranquil trailside, our stay was just as great as the first time. House is clean, beds are comfortable, kitchen is well stocked with pots/pans/dishes/griddles/coffee makers/toaster/waffle maker/sheet pans ect.) Backyard is plenty big for outdoor play (we brought our own outdoor games), back patio is a great spot for eating and relaxing. Plenty of towels, toilet paper, paper towels and soaps to get you started. House is outside of town, but close enough for a quick run in if needed. Close to all attractions. Owners take a lot of pride in this house and are wonderful hosts. Would rent again if in the area.
The pictures don't do this place justice. We were slightly unsure about booking this based on pictures, but we were wrong. You feel at home staying here! Sitting on the back porch and looking at the tranquil back yard. The house is on a main road, but you would never know it. Very comfortable beds, plenty of towels and anything you would need in the kitchen. Everything is labeled for easy findings in the house. The host has gone out of the way to make your stay great. They even had sandwich bags, tin foil, bug spray, candles if power went out, etc...We came for all the tourist activities and hiking and this house was great to come home to for a family of 6. Guest book on the table has all great compliments and is booked every week!
The kids loved playing in the large yard. It was great being so close to the mickelson trail, and a very easy drive into Custer. It was a great weekend getaway for our family!
Great place to stay for all the beautiful mountain motorcycle rides in the area. Was sad to leave this wonderful house and area. See ya soon

About the host
Hosted by David Andrews
A few years ago my wife and I needed to get away ... just a little breather from the big city. Custer was only 6hrs away so we loaded up the truck and headed up. We were enjoying a relaxing ride on the 1880 train (scenic train ride out of Hill City) when we saw the sign of a house for sale. Just for grins, giggles and dreams we looked up the listing and thought it affordable. We had a 4 day trip planned and it turned into 6 and a contract with a realtor. (Just have to put in a plug here for the most loveable realtor in Custer, Anne Fuchs) Well we loved the place so much we purchased a place for us and a place for others to come and hopefully fall in love with the Black Hills just like we did.
