About this property
Creek-side cottage in secluded mountain setting, centrally located, easy access.
Nestled in nearly 5 acres of wooded terrain, Creekside Cottage is a serene getaway tucked into a secluded mountain setting, amid hemlock and rhododendron, in the tranquil Buncombe county community of Broad River, a subdivision of Black Mountain. It is centrally located and easily accessed off scenic highway NC-9, just 20-35 minutes from fantastic boating, hiking, shopping and dining options in and around nearby downtown Black Mountain, Lake Lure, Hendersonville. Each town, roughly equidistant from the cottage in different directions, has its own personality with unique restaurants, cafes, artisanal shops, thrift stores, galleries, wineries, breweries, and coffee houses (additional on each below). Equally close is Asheville, the area’s most populous city where you’ll find, among many great points of interest, the Biltmore Estate, the largest private residence in the Americas, and entry to one of America’s most scenic drives – the Blue Ridge Parkway. Far from the crowds yet relatively close to everything, our cabin is truly a great place to unwind and disconnect in a welcoming, private, and peaceful atmosphere surrounded by nature after enjoying all the surrounding areas have to offer.
The cottage features a comfortable open floor plan interior. You'll find a fully equipped kitchen, comfy king size bed in a spacious bedroom, washer/dryer, and double sinks in the bathroom. Crack the bedroom windows and listen to the soothing sounds of the babbling brook as you fall asleep. Outside, you'll find lots of options to relax – swinging in the screened-in porch while listening to the creek, chilling on the sun deck, rocking on the front porch, lounging in the garden, or warming up by the fire pit while taking in the cool evening air.
The home is equipped with fast and reliable Wi-Fi Internet via a state-of-the-art fiber optic backbone installed just a few years ago, delivering plenty of low-latency, high-speed bandwidth for all your work and recreation Internet needs. Guests are welcome to use the Amazon Echo device to access music, news, weather, etc. or are free to turn it off during their stay. Be advised there are outdoor surveillance cameras monitoring the entrances for security purposes only.
WHAT’S NEARBY:
BLACK MOUNTAIN (NORTH): BLACK MOUNTAIN (NORTH): Known as the Front Porch of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Black Mountain is exquisitely quaint, casual, and very pet-friendly. It has a really neat and walkable downtown with an inviting Town Square, museums, coffee shops, breweries, dozens of restaurants, and unique shops - including an authentic old-fashioned general store, art galleries, and repurposed train depot - all just 25 minutes away. A short drive from downtown is the picturesque Lake Tomahawk Park and the hiking trails of Montreat. The treelined, curvy roadway that will get you there -- Highway 9 -- is perfectly paved, impeccably maintained, and just downright fun to drive. Along the way, you'll find a large Ingles grocery store, gas station, specialty markets, and everything else you'll need to make the most of your stay. Follow the link for more information on why the town of Black Mountain, also known as “The Little Town That Rocks” is a must see. https://www.exploreasheville.com/article/five-days-black-mountain-itinerary
LAKE LURE (SOUTH, THEN EAST): On route to Lake Lure, you'll find one of the area's renowned hiking destinations with something for everyone, just 15 minutes from us: Chimney Rock State Park. If you continue through Chimney Rock Village eastbound on hwy 64 for another five minutes or so, you'll reach Lake Lure’s Washburn Marina, Morse park, and the beautifully restored lake beach area, all of which are a must see. Continuing past the marina, the scenic drive will become a bit more windy as you circle the lake, driving past eateries and shops, on route to an Ingles gas and grocery store on the far southeast end of Lake Lure, roughly 11 miles (23 minutes) from the cottage. If you're into horses, driving another 22 minutes south on hwy 9 and then east on hwy 74 will bring you to the amazing Tryon International Equestrian Center, with all sorts of family-friendly events going on year round.
NOTE: This route will take you through areas which experienced some of the worst damage brought on by Hurricane Helene in September 2024, including Bat Cave, Chimney Rock Village, and the Flowering Bridge. Though recovery has been slow and is still a work in progress, the roads are greatly improved and businesses have begun to reopen, determined and delighted to welcome visitors back. Please consider making the trip to show your support! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LexfLIabIYc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc24Z4sLmEs
HENDERSONVILLE (SOUTH, THEN WEST): The closest and most conveniently accessed gas station is 10 miles away from the cottage heading west (southwest) on hwy 64, where you'll find an Exxon right beside Griffin's Grocery & Cafe. Continuing westbound along hwy 64 another 20-25 minutes will bring you to Downtown Hendersonville (https://www.romanticasheville.com/hendersonville.htm), a chic and casual-upscale area that we just love. As the second largest downtown in Western North Carolina (second only to Asheville), downtown Hendersonville has all sorts of shops, restaurants, galleries and even a pinball museum along the pedestrian-friendly half-mile Main Street, as well as lots of other eats and breweries less than a mile away. It's well worth the trip if you've got the time. Three miles shy of the downtown Hendersonville area on hwy 64, you'll find the largest concentration and assortment of recognizable franchise shopping center stores and chain restaurants, as well as numerous fast food options. You'll also find in that area multiple groceries and gas stations, all about 15 miles (25 minutes) from the cottage, including (you guessed it) another Ingles grocery store.
NOTE: In terms of ease of driving, Hendersonville might be preferable to run errands because there are fewer twists and turns compared to the drives into Black Mountain and Lake Lure. Honestly, though, I look forward to visiting each of these towns every time I am in the area and I know you will, too.

This was a perfect get away with everything you could ask for. The cabin is immersed in nature and we loved the screened in deck. The kitchen is fully stocked. WiFi was great. TV and game options. Excellent all the way around.
Creekside cottage was just a wonderful place to stay. We spent four nights here. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful mountain setting then this is your place. The cottage was very clean and well stocked. Very nice kitchen, comfortable living room and king size bed in the bedroom. Beautiful screened in back porch for morning coffee or evening relaxation. Loved the fact that our two corgis were welcomed. Great location for sightseeing, Chimney Rock State Park, Catawba Falls, Lake Lure, to name a few. Tony and Maria are great hosts and so easy to communicate with. Highly recommend this VRBO.
I had a wonderful stay at this little cottage. Tucked away with plenty of privacy. Check in and communication was easy and the cottage itself was immaculate. Comfy bed and nice big bathroom. My favorite part was sitting on the screen porch in the morning and at night because you can hear the stream and birds. It was incredibly peaceful. There is a fire pit just off the porch which is convenient. We will definitely be coming back!
The cabin was great. It’s in a beautiful area; there are houses around, but very little noise or traffic. The hosts were communicative and easy to work with. I want to come back to see all the rhododendrons in bloom.
We really enjoyed our stay during the 4th of July holiday at the Creekside Cottage (#5). It was located in a secluded mountain area, about 25 min drive to the town of Black Mountain and 15 min drive to Chimney Rock village. The cottage was very clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated. It was very peaceful. We enjoyed our evening time in the screened porch and listened to the sounds of nature. It was also pet friendly. We brought our dog Sammie, who had a great time. The check-in was seamless. The host Tony and Maria were very responsive and timely in communication. We received the detailed document highlighting everything we needed to know about the cottage and the area a week in advance. We highly recommend this cottage for those who love nature, secluded mountain cottage, and peaceful neighborhood.
My wife and I were looking for a relaxing place where we could chill with our dogs and listen to a babbling brook in the mountains. This place was absolutely perfect! the pictures really don't do it justice. The stream is larger than expected and is clearly audible from the front yard, back porch, or bedroom with the window open. Not to mention our dogs loved playing in the water (although we did see a small black snake, so approach with caution)The cabin was clean, quiet, comfortable, and fully stocked. We were impressed with the selection of cooking supplies and kitchen essentials. The air conditioner kept the family room cool, but the bedroom got a bit warm during our early august stay. We picked up a small fan after the first night and it made it much more comfortable. Also the road leading to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure still isn't open, which turns a 10-15 minute drive into a 45-60 minute drive, so that was a bummer. Black Mountain and Hendersonville wasn't a bad drive though, around 25-30 minutes. All in all we loved the cabin and will absolutely stay here again.
The cabin was beautifully decorated and gave the cabin a home feel. I hated leaving! The amenities were well thought out. The attention to detail was spot on!
We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary at the cabin, couldn't have asked for a better place! We had 4 days of rain, but found plenty things to do. We recommend Blowing Rock, Waynesville, Hendersonville and Black Mountain. Chimney Rock is great, but still some building taking place and roadwork.Maria and Tony are wonderful!!! We lost power one day while out and Tony immediately let us know so there was no surprise when we got back. The cabin has everything you need.. beautifully decorated, all kitchen appliances you could possibly want. The swing on the porch is great, and because of screening, no bugs.Thank you Maria and Tony for sharing your home with us and giving us great memories for this anniversary!!!

We enjoyed our stay at Creekside Cottage. The place was clean and was stocked with everything needed. We liked the back porch with the swing and the sound of the small creek/running water (dog enjoyed it, too, LOL).Could not have asked for anything more, thanks!
