About this property
Family Home Overlooking the Harbor Easily Walkable to Town
The Stanley home is a comfortable 2 bedroom family home nestled at the top of the hill at the end of a dead end road. The property includes a large back deck with patio set and grill for barbeque on summer nights. With an attached fenced in play yard for your pet and a large unfenced area out back for children to play, this is the perfect property for a family getaway.
You can choose to enjoy the quiet, nature filled back yard by the orchard or simply walk out the front door for ocean views. Just down the hill is a popular spot for photographers to capture the sunrise over the harbor. This home is a short 1/2 mile walk to restaurants and shopping in Southwest Harbor and provides easy access to hiking trails and Acadia National Park. In the summer and fall this rental is walking distance to weekly farmers markets and art vendors.
A few notes about the set up of the house: 1. Both bedrooms are on the second floor. The bathroom is on the first floor. 2. There is a bar style table in the kitchen that seats four people elbow to elbow. There is a more traditional dining set up on the back deck.

We loved our stay! The fenced in yard was perfect for our dogs. The view in the mornings cannot be beat, so beautiful. Also, the deer were so cool to watch every day!
Fantastic home that was incredibly well stocked and perfect for our family and dogs. The fenced in dog area out back was amazing. Our host was awesome and even gave us some great recommendations! Highly recommend
This was our second stay at Ashley’s home, and it was even better than the first. The house was sparkling clean, comfortably equipped and by far the best dog friendly property we could imagine. The dog run out back is just perfect, we spent evenings hanging out with the pups marveling at the stars, the perfect ending to days at Acadia. Ashley is thoughtful, professional and communicative. I would stay there again any chance I get.
Excellent base from which to explore the entire island. We are always finding new hikes/adventures every time we visit.
The dogs feel comfortable here as well. Great fenced in back yard is a big plus for them!
Perfect house for a relaxing getaway to Acadia National Park. Conveniently located close to town with many restaurants and essential shops nearby. The house was very clean, comfortable, and well stocked with more than just the essentials.
The Stanley home was a great place to spend a week in Maine. The well-kept home is surrounded by a giant yard and adjacent to a small apple orchard. The large, fenced-in dog run was heaven for our Australian Shepherd, who enjoyed playing fetch on demand. Restaurants and shops in Southwest Harbor were less than a mile away in the center of town. In the morning we watched deer come through the orchard to eat apples. We hiked in nearby Acadia National Park during the day, and the sky was dark and full of stars at night. It was a relaxing place to spend a week.
We absolutely loved Ashley’s home. It was a great location and beautiful, dog and family friendly, well stocked home will everything you could need. We hope to return in the future! Thanks for having us!
Awesome house within walking distance to Southwest Harbor!
We loved our stay here! It's very dog friendly with a fenced in back yard. Walking distance to Southwest Harbor which we enjoyed walking to dinner and the shops. So close to lots of hiking and a great kayaking place just down the road. We were "working from anywhere" and the wifi was great for both my husband and I at the same time. I was able to have zoom meetings with no problem. We will definitely be back!
This property was exactly how it was described and allowed us and our pup to be very comfortable. The fenced in area was perfect with a dog. The kitchen had everything you could need to cook (we ate out for each meal). We loved seeing a buck and his deer friends eating apples in the orchid each day. The location is on a quiet street with the harbor in sight at the bottom of the hill. Southwest harbor provides some gems for restaurants and little shops. We loved exploring the quiet side of the island, away from the crowds of Bar Harbor. Check in couldn’t have been easier and the host communication was helpful and timely. Would definitely recommend.
Everything was clean and presented nicely. Quite a few tripping hazards with raised thresholds in bedrooms. Slanted sealing at top of stairs caused a few head bumps. Did not like the bar in kitchen for dinning. We did enjoy our stay and would come back again.
It was a perfect location for us. Able to enjoy a class of wine on the porch while catching a hint of the harbor. Great for dogs as the entire back yard is fenced in and the added attraction for your dog is watching the deers in the apple orchard.
This house was in the perfect location. We could access Acadia quickly and easily, we could also enjoy the “quiet side” of the island. It’s a quick walk into town or a short drive Bar Harbor for dinners. We cooked one night in the house and we had everything we needed. We found lobstermen who sold lobster from his garage and it was amazing. The house is also close to a grocery store and mini golf. There is a view of the harbor which was nice surprise! The house had everything we needed, from towels to linens. The house was very clean and had ample room for my family of five. My boys loved the Wii in the evenings. This is house was perfect for our Acadia vacation. Would definitely book here again!
We had a lovely stay at Ashley’s home- tucked away at the end of a quiet street, surrounded by a small orchard. It was very clean and super comfy. We walked into Southwest Harbor at least once daily for coffee, a meal or ice cream. Accessing the rest of the island was easy to do via car or the Island Explorer. Our dog loved the fenced in backyard and it was nice to not worry about where she might wander off to. We saw a group of young bucks wander through the orchard in early evenings from the back porch. The front porch had a lovely view of the harbor, best enjoyed in the morning with a cup of coffee.
Lovely home base for exploring the natural beauty of Acadia and Maine coastline. My dog loved the fenced, private backyard and I appreciated the pet friendly, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Well appointed, and as described, but views and location surpassed expectations! I would definitely stay here again!
We totally loved the location in less hectic SW Harbor…The house had everything we needed, and the fenced in yard was great for the pup. We had an issue with the TV that the owner quickly solved. Make sure to hike Ship Harbor close by…a little gem of an area. We stayed 5 days and had a great time exploring and hiking Acadia.
The perfect place for our family of four, with two teenagers, to rest up from our day adventures exploring Acadia national park for the first time! I cannot say enough good things about this house and host. It was so clean and relaxing and Ashley answered all of my questions! Ps, look for seals in the harbor at sunset/low tide what a treat to see right down the street! I will miss this place and hope to return!
The house is perfect for a visit to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Location is close to all the highlights of the park and in a quiet neighborhood. The view of the harbor is super. Our dogs loved the fenced in yard which was a bonus. The property is full of character and has great charm. The living space and bedrooms are spacious. The kitchen has everything you need, just bring your groceries. Due to the weather we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor area, but the back deck and front porch are nice both with nice views. There are several nice places to eat within walking distance.
Beautiful house with plenty of room for two adults, two kids, and our Golden Retriever. Quiet neighborhood, but very close to restaurants and downtown including the Wendell Gilley Museum. We found hiking nearby, and Bar Harbor was only about 20 minutes away. We would stay here again!
4 senior adults and two standard poodles. We all really enjoyed our stay (four nights). Place is super clean and well equipped. We would have enjoyed an indoor table and chairs as the evenings were cooler in October. We ate in the evenings at the bar in the kitchen. Great map of the park on the wall that we enjoyed discussing our plans for the next day!
